Canelo Alvarez so confident in beating Caleb Plant he boxed with ‘undisputed’ written on his gloves BEFORE winning belts

CANELO ALVAREZ had ‘undisputed’ written on his gloves on the night of his super-middleweight coronation. The Mexican star boasted of undisputed credentials before the job was even done as he knocked out Caleb Plant in 11 rounds.

It saw him add the missing IBF from his WBC, WBA and WBO belt collection and make him just one of six men to ever win all four titles.
Canelo was so confident of achieving the feat, not only did he have undisputed printed on his gloves, he also had a ready-made jacket.
Alvarez, who has won belts in four divisions, scored two knockdowns with a round to go before the ref waved off the fight.
Plant, 29, beaten for the first time in 22 fights, was transported to a local hospital in Las Vegas for precautionary checks.
But he later broke his silence after defeat and vowed to bounce back better than ever.
Plant posted: “I’ve bent most the world to my will and done it with nothing but passion and skill.

“I’ll be back I showed I belong on the top level and I’ll be champion of the world again.
“I’ve never been scared to go big or go out on my shield. Thank you to all the fans and all my supporters.”
Canelo admitted before the fight he had never felt such animosity towards an opponent, but later paid his respect to Plant.
He said: “He wanted to continue. I told him there is no shame. Of course I came out on top.
“Caleb is a good fighter. He was a difficult opponent with a lot of ability and I do respect him.”

His promoter Eddie Hearn bumped into Iron Mike while attending Canelo Alvarez’s victory over Caleb Plant in Las Vegas last night.
And during the exchange, a reporter from ES News brought up the idea of Tyson training Joshua in the build-up to his rematch with Usyk.
Reporter Elie Seckbach asked Tyson: “Mike, you know what I told him [Hearn] yesterday?
“I said you should coach Joshua and he agreed, he liked the idea.”
Hearn joked: “Of course. He’s been there, he’s seen it, he’s done it all!”
And as Tyson laughed and clapped along, Hearn added: “No sparring though!”

After the Matchroom boss wandered off, Tyson was asked about what it would be like to join Joshua in the gym.
He replied: “That’d be an honour.
“Not to fight, but to help each other – that’d be awesome.
“He has so much potential, he should not be depressed.
“Him and (Deontay) Wilder should not be depressed and give up on the world.”
Speaking to Boxing News, Hearn explained the thought process behind AJ’s recent trips to the States.
He said: “I was involved in most of the meetings out here (in the States).
“He’s been in Sheffield for years. The problem in there is that he’s god. And when you’re God are going to be worked like a dog?Eddie Hearn
“They weren’t interviews, they were just watching, looking around, learning, talking to great minds. I think it was pretty good for him, I think the change of scenery will do him good to be honest with you.
“He’s been in Sheffield for [11] years. The problem in there is that he’s god. And when you’re God are going to be worked like a dog? That’s sometimes what you need. He works unbelievably hard but everyone does look at him and they’re like, ‘You are God.’
“You come in here [to an American gym], it is so different. It’s draining for him in the UK. I think it’d really freshen him up out here and I think this is where he should base camp.”
Joshua has received an offer from Tyson Fury to help train him ahead of his Usyk rematch.
And AJ admitted that he’s up for it… unless the Gypsy King is looking to make money out of him.

He is undefeated since 2013 and now holds five belts, and although Usman maintained his flawless UFC record on the same night, White believes he would have no chance against Alvarez.
When asked what he thought of Usman calling out Alvarez for a fight earlier this week, White responded: “I watched the Canelo fight tonight.
“He doesn’t want to fight Canelo, he doesn’t want to fight Canelo.
    “C’mon man let’s stop this s***.”
Alvarez is ranked as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world by Ring magazine.
And although Usman, 34, has a height advantage over the world champion, and knock-out power, it would be a big step to swap the Octagon for the ring.

But after dominating the Welterweight division with 14 straight wins the Nigerian is keen to face a different challenge.
Alvarez, however, believes Usman is merely looking for a “payday” and shrugged off his suggestion of a fight.

    MUTUAL RESPECT
Kamara Usman and Colby Covington were mocked by the referee after embracing at the end of their five-round war at UFC 268.
Usman and Covington exchanged words of encouragement to one another inside the octagon, before referee Dan Miragliotta praised them for their sportsmanship.
The ref said: “Ahh, I like that. Good job gentlemen. Much respect, much respect.”
The two fighters then came together once more and hugged out their animosity, receiving a round of applause from the Madison Square Garden crowd in the process.
This time, however, Miragliotta could not help making fun of the pair’s decision to embrace in the ring.
He added: “Alright go kiss later. Go back to your corners! Go.”
    PLANT WELL
Caleb Plant was praised for his valiant effort against Canelo Alvarez despite losing the clash by a bunch of fighters.
Danny Garcia said: “Congrats to Canelo, he closed the show like a true champ. Respect to Plant.”
Joseph Diaz added: “What a fight, Canelo always closes! Respect to both fighters. Plant put on a great fight.
“We’re witnessing true greatness what Canelo is doing in his career.”
And Jamel Herring chipped in saying: “Shout out to my guy @SweetHandsPlant for putting up a good effort.”
    NOT A WHITE IDEA
UFC boss Dana White has warned Kamaru Usman to stay away from Canelo Alvarez.
Both fighters won their fights last night in their different categories with Usman beating Covington in the UFC, and Alvarez disposing of Plant in the boxing ring.
Usman’s been flirting with the idea to take on Alvarez in a cross-sport bout to cement his legacy, but after watching both fights, White doesn’t think that would be a good idea.
He said: “I watched the Canelo fight tonight.
“He [Usman] don’t want to fight Canelo, he don’t want to fight Canelo. Come on, man. Let’s stop this s**t. If Canelo wants to come over here, awesome fight.
“Those two put on an incredible performance (tonight).”
    CANELO’S THE BEST
Canelo Alvarez has been labelled the best boxer in the world at the moment after his win over Caleb Plant.
The praise was led by Manny Pacquiao who said: “Congratulations to the pound-for-pound king, Canelo, on making boxing history as the first undisputed super middleweight champion ever.
“Plant put up a great fight but Canelo is just too good. Boxing is in great hands”‘
Devin Haney, who takes on Joseph Diaz next, also chimed in, stating: “Canelo is the best mf fighter in the world! Period.”
YouTuber-turned boxer Jake Paul also added to the mix, jokingly stating that he is thinking of signing Canelo to his Most Valuable Promotions label.
    PLANT APOLOGY
Canelo Alvarez revealed that Caleb Plant apologised to him after their fight last night.
Things had got heated in the lead-up to their bout which ended in and Alvarez win, but after the slug-fest, Plant let Alvarez know that he meant no harm.
Speaking after his win, Alvarez said: “He told me after the fight that he wanted to keep fighting, that he wanted to continue.
“And he also apologised to me and said what he said about my mother, he didn’t really mean it and that he was truly sorry for that.
“I told him: ‘Look, it’s ok, it is water under the bridge.’
“I told him he is a great man and I told him one day I hope he has a great family as well. I only wish the best for him.”
    WHITE’S ALL RIGHT
Dana White won a staggering $100,000 (£74k) bet after Canelo Alvarez’s stunning KO of Caleb Plant, writes TOBY GANNON.
The UFC chief – who oversaw a stacked card in which Kamaru Usman beat Colby Covington – placed the huge wager on the P4P king before their super-middleweight undisputed world title fight in Las Vegas.
And it was quids in for White, who walked away with $41k (£30k) after backing the Mexican to win by knock-out.
Canelo, 31, struggled throughout the fight but sent Plant crashing to the canvas in the 11th round.
He is now the first-ever undisputed super-middleweight champion in history – and has banked at least £30m for his troubles.
And White is a whole lot richer for it, too.
The 52-year-old – who watched the fight on TV while sitting in the front row at UFC 268 – admits he is a ‘degenerate’ gambler having lost a $1MILLION (£741k) boxing bet in 2007.
    APOLOGY
Caleb Plant apologised to Canelo for insulting his mum.
The American did so during their post-fight embrace – Canelo told him: “We are men, everything is OK – we keep going.”

Tommy Fury misses Jake Paul press conference due to family emergency as rival pays respect to Love Island star

TOMMY FURY missed the first press conference ahead of his fight with Jake Paul because of a ‘family emergency’.YouTuber Paul was the only fighter present at Saturday’s event in Las Vegas with some reports suggesting former Love Island star Fury was ‘taking care of his ill mother’.

Jake Paul was in attendance and vowed to KO Fury after initially showing respectCredit: Getty
Fury, 22, is 7-0 and will take on the online personality in Tampa, Florida on December 18.
Paul, 24, is also unbeaten with both men having been criticised for the quality of the opponents they have faced before now.
Pre-fight promo officially began on Saturday but Fury’s camp announced a ‘family emergency’ meant he had to fly back to the UK.
Though it hasn’t been confirmed, FightHub’s Marcos Villegas reported it was because Tommy’s mum Chantal is unwell.
Paul appeared to give credence to that suggestion when he paid respect to the Brit as he spoke to the gathered media.
He said: “I’m upset that Tommy’s not here. I know he’s taking care of his mother and I respect that as a man. I hope she’s okay.”

Tommy’s trainer SugarHill Steward attended in Fury’s place.
And despite his opponent’s family issue, Paul did not hold back after his initial show of respect.
The American declared: “I will TKO him in the later rounds, I think he’ll be gassed.
“This will be his first time actually getting punched in the face by somebody who can hit.
“He’s always fought smaller guys with losing records. He’s not hearing that final bell ring.
    ‘IS HE ACTUALLY A FURY?’
“He’s only been put in there with opponents that were meant to lose.
“This is his first real test where his opponent isn’t some guy who’s just going to flop over.
“He has no idea what he’s getting himself into. This is his first time under the big lights, on the big stage, and he’s going to crack under pressure.
“The beautiful thing about this fight is the unknown. Is he actually a Fury, or will we find out that he’s just a half Fury?
“Does he have the heart like his brother, or is he just living in the shadow of his brother?

“The beautiful thing about this fight is stepping into the unknown, because this is also my first time fighting a real boxer, whatever that means.
“He’s undefeated, he’s young, same age, same weight, same height, so it’s really a perfect match-up.
“We’re just going to see who worked harder, who wants it more and who has that dog inside of them.”
