TYSON FURY could barely run three miles a month before his epic trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder.Fury’s preparations for his third clash with the American were rocked by Covid and daughter Athena’s stint in the intensive care unit at Liverpool’s Alder Hey Hospital.

Dad John encouraged his son to keep busy during his stay at the hospital by going for a run and was left stunned when he outpaced the Gypsy King.
He told Sky Sports: “I went to Alder Hey Hospital, I accompanied him just to keep him right.
“I said, ‘Look, you’ve got to do some form of exercise, just don’t sit in here.
“Let’s go for a bit of a run, you’ll feel better after it.’
“I’m 56 years old, 20 stone, I outran him. We went for a run round Liverpool and his lungs were on fire, I thought, ‘Look at this’.
“My lungs? You couldn’t hear them. He struggled with a three-mile run.

“He said afterwards, ‘That nearly killed me.’ So that’s where he was at four weeks prior to that big night.”
Pulling out of the fight never crossed Fury’s mind, although his old man reckons he should’ve postponed the Sin City showdown.
John continued: “He was going to do it anyway, so what I said was: ‘OK then, I’ll try to make the best of a bad job. I’ll fill him full of confidence’.
“But deep down inside I was worried because I thought ‘you know what, he shouldn’t be doing this’.
“There’s a power to be in boxing, Tyson wanting to stand up for his country knowing Anthony Joshua just lost his belts at home, two miles from where he lives.
Deep down inside I was worriedJohn Fury on Tyson Fury’s preparations for Deontay Wilder
“He thought: ‘You know what, I can’t be like this man, I’ve got to do my own thing, stand for my country.
“‘Win, lose or draw it’s on!'”
John was immensely proud of his son’s soldiering on, saying: “I can only commend my son, there’ll never be another man like Tyson Fury ever in the sport of boxing.
“I told him: ‘You’re that good, it’s scary!’
“He’s the full package, he’s proven everything, there’s nothing more for him to prove.

“If he walked away today he’s done his business, won every professional title there is to win.
“He’s a remarkable human being, so embrace him while he’s here because when he’s gone, he’s gone, and then you’re back to the boring stuff – the losing.
“The belts will be gone because – let me tell you something – it’ll be a long time before those heavyweight belts are held here again because I think once they leave these shores when Tyson’s gone they’re staying gone.”

Deontay Wilder’s sparring partner wants him to fight Anthony Joshua but warns NO ONE can take the power bar Tyson Fury

DEONTAY WILDER has been urged by his sparring partner to fight Anthony Joshua next year. But Joshua is warned no other heavyweight on the planet bar Tyson Fury has proven capable of taking Wilder’s shots.

American Jim Torney, 34, helped the former champion with two week’s worth of sparring before the epic trilogy bout with Fury.
Wilder, who scored two knockdowns in round four, was floored three times in total but fought until the bitter end, when he was finished in the 11th.
He is set to undergo surgery next week for a broken hand, but is in line to return by May 2022.
And training partner Torney picked long-time rival AJ as the perfect opponent upon Wilder’s return.
He told SunSport: “I would love to see the Anthony Joshua fight.
“His team and D know what’s best for him, but I think probably they will try to make that fight happen eventually.

“Whether he does a comeback fight first and then goes for AJ, he’ll be ready.
“His team will decide what’s best to do, but that would be an awesome fight for the fans.”
Torney, who perfectly matches up with Fury’s 6ft 9in and 19 stone frame, felt first hand the force of Wilder’s right hand.
The Gypsy King twice got off the canvas in their 2018 original, and won the rematch with a one-sided seven beatdown last year.
But the heavyweight stars saved the best till last with their trilogy decider going down as an instant classic.
It saw Fury again rise from the floor two times, this time to win, and Torney admits Britain’s unbeaten WBC champion could be the only man capable of doing so.
But I don’t see anyone right now that’s proven themselves to get up off the canvas from a guy like Wilder, other than Fury.”Deontay Wilder’s sparring partner Jim Torney
He said: “I don’t think anyone takes those other than Fury.
“And that’s only because you have to go off people’s past experiences, and Fury has got up in the past. AJ is a tough, tough dude.
“He got up against Andy Ruiz, so I think if he could get up he would but I just don’t know whether he could weather the storm for another seven, eight rounds.
“He didn’t prove he could against Ruiz, but he’s a tough dude and you have to give him credit.
“But I don’t see anyone right now that’s proven themselves to get up off the canvas from a guy like Wilder, other than Fury.”
Joshua, 31, was beaten by Oleksandr Usyk, 34, in September and is now set for a rematch with the Ukrainian.
Meanwhile Fury, 33, will be ordered to face the winner between Dillian Whyte, 33, and Otto Wallin, 30, who fight at the end of the month.

Wilder, 35, again faces a rebuilding job, but his reputation was restored after a brave and gutsy performance against Fury.
He did so under the guidance of new coach Malik Scott, the man he actually knocked out in 2014, before building a friendship.
Torney, 4-0 in his career, backed the Bronze Bomber – who has 41 KOs in 42 wins – to come back better than ever, quashing any threat of retirement.
He said: “I know a lot of guys say this when they’re leading up to big fights, that this is ‘best camp’ they’ve ever had.
“But watching D, he was all of 230-pounds in camp and athletically he doesn’t look like he’s ageing.
“So yeah, I think the best is yet to come from Wilder.”

Manny Pacquiao’s son Emmanuel Jr, 20, trains with superstar Canelo Alvarez as he looks to follow in his dad’s footsteps

CANELO ALVAREZ has been filmed training Manny Pacquiao’s son Emmanuel Jr in his gym. Emmanuel, believed to be 20, is a Filipino actor, model, and vlogger but is best known for being the son of iconic boxer Pacquiao.
Canelo was filmed training Manny Pacquiao’s son Emmanuel Jr in his gym
Jimuel Pacquiao filmed training with Canelo
Despite a planned career in showbiz, in 2018 the son of a legend – commonly nicknamed Jimuel – began training in boxing.
He is said to have only had six amateur bouts, winning four, losing one and drawing the other.
And despite the advice from his legendary dad to opt against boxing, Jimuel has continued to pursue the sport.
It recently saw him visit Canelo’s gym in the Mexican’s adopted American home of San Diego.
Jimuel was captured practising slipping and defensive drills before showing off his rapid hand speed – similar to his old man’s but from the orthodox stance, not southpaw.
Pacquiao, 42, recently announced his retirement after 72 fights, closing out a historic career which saw him win titles in eight divisions.

He called it a day after defeat to Cuban Yordenis Ugas, 35, over 12 rounds in Las Vegas.
Jimuel was ringside but did not travel back to the Philippines with his dad, instead staying in America to train.
After calling quits on his career, Pacquiao opened up about his son’s decision to focus on boxing.
He told Rappler Talk: “If you ask me, I wouldn’t want him to become a boxer because I can’t stand watching my son fight.
“But when I tell him about it, he tells me, ‘Daddy, boxing is your passion, right? Same with me, like you, boxing is my passion also. So what are we going to do?’ I become speechless.
“I told him boxing is not just training, but hard work. You need to have dedication, focus – mentally, physically, and spiritually.
“I told him to remain in the amateur ranks for now, and to not turn professional.”

Deontay Wilder’s manager names three legends who could beat Tyson Fury with Brit ranked top five heavyweight of all time

TYSON FURY is ranked as a top five heavyweight of all time by Deontay Wilder’s co-manager. Fury contentiously drew with Wilder in 2018 but brilliantly won a one-sided rematch last year.

But the rivals saved the best till last with their epic trilogy bout in Las Vegas going down as an instant classic.
Fury scored three knockdowns, getting up twice from the canvas in the fourth, to close the show with a knockout in round 11.
It cemented the Gypsy King as the best heavyweight in the world, but Wilder’s co-manager Shelly Finkel rates him as one of the greatest ever.
Asked where Fury’s ranks amongst the greats, Finkel told SunSport: “Probably in the top five.
“You have to give Fury credit, he got up twice, also in the first fight, and he is calm in the ring.
“He knows what he’s got to do and he does it very well. Time will tell where he places in history.”

Finkel, who began his boxing management career in 1980, has worked with some of the best heavyweights in history.
That includes Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield and Wladimir Klitschko as well as Wilder more recently.
The Bronze Bomber, who made ten WBC title defences from 2015-2020, weighed in a career-heaviest 17 stone for his trilogy with Fury.
For much of his championship reign, Wilder, 35, scaled anywhere from 15-16 stone, often giving away size but making up for it in brutal power.
Champions of the past such as Tyson, 55, Holyfield, 58, and Muhammad Ali, who died in 2016, all cut a similar frame.
He knows what he’s got to do and he does it very well. Time will tell where he places in history.” Deontay Wilder’s co-manager Shelly Finkel on Tyson Fury
But Fury, 33, is an example of the modern-day heavyweight, piling on the pounds to 19-and-a-half stone against Wilder the third time around.
For that reason, Finkel warned it would have been hard for any great heavyweight of the past to overcome him, except a certain three.
He said: “The smaller guys couldn’t beat him because of his size. Maybe, a George Foreman, at Foreman’s peak.
“Ali was specially gifted in movement, but smaller than that would’ve been hard.
“Mike Tyson may have been able, even though he was only 215 or so.”

Tyson’s party ways saw him fall afoul of the law in January 2007, when he was arrested for drink driving and possession of cocaine.
Iron Mike gave up booze and drugs in 2016 in a bid to turn around his life after excessive weight gain, which was around the time he started he started using weed and psychedelics.
He told Forbes: “You see how much my life changed five years ago? I was a junkie five years ago.
“I didn’t even think I could survive. Then I got introduced to animal and plant medicine.”
Tyson, 55, is happy with his new healthy lifestyle.
He said: “Before you always read about me in the papers, doing something negative.

“Now, what happened to that guy? You don’t see me partying anymore. That’s not my life anymore.
“It’s hard to really articulate it from my perspective, but psychedelics helped me assume my relationship with God.
“I don’t use it for recreation. I’m not a recreational user. This stuff is only done from a spiritual perspective.
“We go to ceremonies, you know. We have to bear witness and be humble.”
Tyson has teamed up with Wesana Health in a bid to change the stigma surrounding psychedelics and educate the public about their benefits.
He continued: “There are tons of companies to get involved with, but it’s only the right one that would do for me.
“And I think Wesana, they’re the right ones with my personality, I think it suited just well.
“I’m involved with the whole team, and this is what we’re doing. We’re educating people.”

Anthony Joshua rematch with Oleksandr Usyk set for April 4 as Bob Arum claims Brit is ‘too chinny’ to win fight

ANTHONY JOSHUA has been accused of being too ‘chinny’ to beat Oleksandr Usyk, with the pair set to rematch on ‘April 4th’. Joshua was beaten over 12 rounds and lost the WBA, IBF and WBO belts to Usyk in September.

But the defiant Brit has already invoked his right to an immediate rematch.
It cancels out any chance of stepping aside to allow Usyk to unify against WBC champion Tyson Fury, 33, who recently beat Deontay Wilder, 35.
Fury’s US promoter Bob Arum hit out at Eddie Hearn and AJ for refusing to sit out and has written off their chances of winning the rematch.
Arum told FightHub: “Eddie thought Joshua wouldn’t be amenable to a step aside and would want to do the rematch.
“Which is sort of stupidity on his part because no way is he going to beat Usyk in his next fight no matter what new strategy he deploys.
“Yeah, too talented, and he’s a little chinny, Joshua is.

“The only way you’re going to beat Usyk is to pin him and corner him with your high weight and pressure him.
“But then he can unload against you. Now, a Tyson Fury can absorb that, as we all know, but Anthony Joshua has a suspect chin.”
Fury is now set to be ordered to face the winner between Dillian Whyte, 33, and Otto Wallin, 30, who fight at the end of the month.
Arum is hopeful he could then go into an undisputed title decider by October as he predicted AJ’s return date.
He said: “Joshua and Usyk, I think they’re going to wait until April 4th.
“I think Fury will fight again in March or April. Then we can look to September or October match for a unification.”

Tyson Fury could retire TOMORROW after ‘having enough’ following brutal Deontay Wilder win, hints promoter Frank Warren

FRANK WARREN admitted he would not be surprised if Tyson Fury retired ‘tomorrow’ after cementing himself as the No1 heavyweight. Fury settled his trilogy series in style against Deontay Wilder with a brutal knockout in round 11.

Beforehand, he mapped out a five-fight plan which included Wilder, Dillian Whyte, Derek Chisora and a double header with Anthony Joshua.
But even his promoter conceded if the motivation is no longer there, the unbeaten Gypsy King could call it a day, leaving on top.
Warren told talkSPORT: “Before the fight, he did an interview and he mapped out five fights.
“I’m just saying, if he chooses to do it, he will do it. He will do what he wants to do and no-one is going to tell him who he is going to fight.
“I tell you that now; he is the man and he will do what is necessary.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if Tyson said tomorrow, ‘I’ve had enough, I don’t fancy it.’
“If he does, he is wealthy, he has made a lot of money and he has got to do what is right for him.”

Fury, 33, was set to fight Joshua, 31, in Saudi Arabia in August after trying to walk away from his contracted trilogy with Wilder, 35.
But the defiant American took the dispute to arbitration and was awarded the verdict.
It saw Joshua instead fight and lose to Oleksandr Usyk, 34, surrendering the unified titles.
Now after Fury’s win, Dillian Whyte, 33, will be next for the WBC title – if he beats Otto Wallin 30, at the end of the month.
Fury is sitting pretty with the possibility of a mega-fight in the UK with Whyte, or undisputed decider between the winner of AJ and Usyk’s rematch.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if Tyson said tomorrow, ‘I’ve had enough, I don’t fancy it.’Promoter Frank Warren
His dad John urged him to face only Usyk for all the titles next, or else retire, to make sure he returns with 100 per cent focus.
But even the Gypsy King himself dropped a recent retirement hint after his gruelling Las Vegas thriller against Wider.
He told the Telegraph: “I don’t know what’s going to happen.
“I’ve got one fight left on my contract with Top Rank and ESPN and we’ll see what that is.
“But I’m not thinking about boxing right now. I don’t know how many fights I’ve got left.
“I don’t know if I need to fight any more. I don’t know what the future holds.”

Afterwards, Fury spent the night and following day partying non-stop with his family and friends to celebrate the heavyweight thriller.
He’s now back home with his entourage, landing at Heathrow T3 from a flight believed to have been from Atlanta.
Fury touched down around 11am, and was pictured by SunSport queuing up at passport control while yawning with the affects of the gruelling 11 rounds – plus the partying – there to see.
Ever the people’s champ, the father-of-six lined up like everyone else, proving he needs no special treatment.
Fury three times floored Wilder, twice picking himself up from the canvas too, before scoring a stunning knockout with just a round to go.
He enjoyed the win in style, partying with brother Tommy and wife Paris, while dancing on stage with DJ Steve Aoki.

But after the dust settled, it was time to come home for Fury, who enjoys the local life in Lancashire.
Paris posted a picture with the heavyweight icon on what appeared to be a lunch date, as they prepared to return home to their adoring children.
She wrote on Instagram: “What a night . . . what a fight! The last 48 hours have been epic and I’m still on cloud nine.
“It meant everything to be there with Tyson, he’s worked so hard for this and he brought it home like the great champion he is!
“It won’t be long till We’re back to reality and the school run but for now this is definitely one of the highs of being a boxer’s wife.
“And not long till Love and Fury (Paris’s book on life with Tyson) is out too.”
