And according to Michael Benson, the WBC gave Fury 30 days after his trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder to try and set up a unification blockbuster with WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO champion Oleksandr Usyk.
The deadline has since passed and they’re set to officially order Fury to fight Whyte.
TalkSPORT’s Benson said on Twitter: “The WBC gave Tyson Fury 30 days after the Deontay Wilder win to agree a fight with Oleksandr Usyk, or he’d have to defend against Dillian Whyte next.
“This deadline has now passed. WBC will address all mandatories on Tuesday, with Fury vs Whyte expected to be officially ordered.”
Whyte, 33, had been set to fight Otto Wallin at the end of last month in a fight which would have played a factor in who fought Fury next.
But the Brit reportedly suffered an injury during his training camp in Portugal.

And the Body Snatcher got to skip past Wallin because of it.
Addressing claims that the timing of his injury was ‘convenient’, Whyte said: “We need to put some respect on my name. Listen, I’ll fight anyone; I don’t care.

Chris Eubank Jr vs Liam Williams CONFIRMED for December 11 with bitter British rivals to settle score in Cardiff

CHRIS EUBANK JR and Liam Williams have confirmed they will fight on December 11 in Cardiff to settle their long-running feud.SunSport exclusively revealed in September that Eubank Jr was ready to fight Williams after shelving plans to box Gennady Golovkin until next summer.
Chris Eubank Jr will fight Liam Williams in Cardiff next month

Eubank Jr and Williams have been at each other’s throats on social media ever since.
But the pair will finally settle scores in front of a packed crowd at the Motorpoint Arena next month.
WBA title contender Eubank Jr, who boasts a 30-2 record, declared: “Liam Williams has been saying a lot to try to catch my attention and bait me into fighting him.
“It’s now got to the point where everyone is asking me to shut him up, and on December 11, I’m going to give the people what they want.
“As I’ve said, I’m only involved in big fights from now on and this is the fight people want to see. They want to see if Williams can back up what he’s been saying – which he won’t.
“I’m on a mission towards world titles and Liam Williams is someone I’ve got to go through to get there. I’m looking forward to shutting him up.”

Williams, whose record stands at 23-3-1, responded: “I’m very excited to get the fight made. It’s been coming for a long time.
“I can’t wait to shut his mouth once and for all. There’s nothing like a big domestic showdown to get the juices flowing.
“A lot of people have been calling for this fight for a long time. I personally think it’s the biggest all-British fight outside of AJ and Fury.
“I’m really excited and just counting down the days. I’ve not been that impressed with Chris’ recent performances.
“People are talking about how he’s brought Roy Jones in to improve him, but if I’m being totally honest, I don’t think he’s improved one bit.
“A win in this fight and possibly even a stoppage over Eubank and my name is going to be well and truly out there and in the mix for world titles.”
The fight will be Eubank’s third this year, with the ace beating Marcus Morrison in May before defeating Wanik Awdijan last month.
Eubank Jr has now won his last five bouts since losing to George Groves in February 2018.
And after holding the WBA interim middleweight title up until August, he is now eager to continue his trajectory towards a title shot, with the belt currently held by American ace Erislandy Lara.
Meanwhile, Williams has fought just once in 2021, suffering defeat to WBO middleweight champ Demetrius Andrade in April.
Before that, Williams had won seven in a row following two straight defeat to Liam Smith.
And a win for him against Eubank Jr would throw Williams right back into the title hunt.

He added: “I am excited with this opportunity. To become a world champion in a second weight division is my goal”.
Galahad is also showing plenty of respect for his competition.
“We saw how sharp and hungry he looked against Zelfa Barrett recently so with this being his chance to become World Champion again, I’m expecting an even hungrier and sharper version and I will be preparing for exactly that,” he said.
He also expressed his excitement of being in his home town: “I am beyond excited for this. It will give me a great sense of pride to be making my first World Title defence right here in Sheffield, the city where my boxing journey began with the legend Brendan Ingle.”  More

Eddie Hearn reveals Anthony Joshua’s trip to USA wasn’t about new trainer as he opens door to shock Rob McCracken stay

ANTHONY JOSHUA’s recent trip to the United States wasn’t about ‘identifying a new trainer’.AJ sparked intense speculation he could ditch long-time coach Rob McCracken after being spotted at several gyms during his stateside stay following defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.

But promoter Eddie Hearn insists the former unified heavyweight champion’s trip to America was about ‘learning’ in a different environment.
The Matchroom Boxing chief told DAZN: “The trip wasn’t about identifying a new trainer, it was about learning and new environments.
“I believe that he needs to change his environment.”
Hearn believes the Watford warrior would benefit immensely from a change of scenery.
He continued: “I believe that’s a good move for him.
“He’s been in Sheffield since he’s been 18, that’s 14 years, and it’s an amazing camp.

“But he’s God there, and in the UK. What he liked about coming over here, he could go to breakfast, he could get to the gym, and he wasn’t being mobbed all day, every day.”
Axing mentor and good friend McCracken for next year’s rematch with Usyk is something Hearn believes Joshua, 32, will find hard to do.
He told BetFred: “Robert McCracken is more than just a trainer to AJ. He’s a friend. He’s a mentor. He’s an advisor.”
Joshua will bid to reclaim the unified heavyweight titles from the undefeated Usyk in the spring.
And although a date for their rematch has not yet been finalised, Hearn has already seen a change in mentality from the fallen champ.

He said: “I say we have to go rough and rugged but he’s got to have that challenger mentality in this fight and he’s got it.
“Everything I hear from him tells me that he wants to win badly and bash Usyk up, which I didn’t hear any of going into the first fight.
    “He’s angry, which is good.
“No decision has been made yet but I do think a change of scenery would be good for him in terms of where his training camp’s based.”

Boxing champion turned MMA fighter Claressa Shields also repeated the claim, which Paul has insisted is ‘bulls***t’.
The Problem Child said: “Look, it’s a bunch of losers trying to make s*** up to get in the headlines.
“And to get reporters like yourself to ask about that exact question and put their name into the mix so they can get a little bit of clout.
“Having a ‘no knockout clause’ in a contract – I’ve never heard of that.
“It’s highly illegal, I would be in jail.

That means Usyk’s attention will turn to AJ, with WBC mandatory White likely to be Fury’s next opponent.
And Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk has revealed he will meet Eddie Hearn soon to discuss details of Usyk vs Joshua 2, including the location of the fight.
He told Sky Sports News: “We keep focus on the rematch as the no 1 option.
“We plan to meet with Eddie Hearn within the next couple of weeks to initiate the rematch activities.

After claiming the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight world titles on Joshua’s home soil Usyk could be keen to take the Brit back to his native Ukraine.
Or Usyk could prefer a trip to the Middle East where he will likely receive a bigger pay packet.
As for Whyte, he will likely appreciate the fact Usyk’s camp are focused on fighting Joshua.
That opens to door for his first world title fight against Fury – one which he thinks will be massive in Britain.
He said previously: “Hopefully now, the WBC forces my position and Fury has no choice.
“It’s a massive British fight, a major fight for Britain.

Meet Jaime Munguia, Mexico’s next star who is trained by legend Erik Morales and wants ‘historic’ rivalry with Canelo

JAIME MUNGUIA is on the way to becoming Mexico’s next great hope – and already has boxing royalty in his corner. The former light-middleweight champion is trained by the legendary Erik Morales, who enjoyed one of the greatest rivalries of all time with Antonio Barrera.

Unbeaten Munguia, still only 25, can only dream of such an epic trilogy with fellow countryman Canelo Alvarez, currently boxing’s top attraction.
But if anyone is going to guide him into a potential all-Mexican showdown, Morales is the man for it.
The pair were introduced by promoter Fernando Beltran, and Munguia’s idol soon turned into a mentor.
Mungia told SunSport: “I’ve always been a fan of Erik.
“He’s a great idol of mine and he’s was a very technical fighter, entertaining to watch, he had a great defence.
“He had great attacks and he was a very complete fighter, always very fun to watch.
“My favourite fight was the one with Daniel Zaragoza, where he won the world championship.”

Munguia won the WBO world title against Sadam Ali in 2018 as a 21-year-old and made five defences – one against Britain’s Liam Smith – before moving up.
He is now at middleweight, where he has won three times, and returns against veteran American Gabriel Rosado over the weekend.
It will be his toughest test at 160lb, the division where in 2018 Munguia was refused the chance to fight Gennady Golovkin by the Nevada commission.
He said: “I have a lot to prove in this new weight division.
“I am ready to show everybody what I am made of, I’m ready to show what I’ve learned from my experience and that I’m a great fighter.”
Rosado, 35, has had a storied 41-fight career with several ups and downs, enough to justify his role in 2015 Hollywood hit Creed, a Rocky spin-off movie.

Jaime Munguia in his last fight against Kamil SzeremetaCredit: Getty
In his last fight, he knocked out hot prospect Bektemir Melikuziev, 25, a fierce reminder of his giant killing ability.
Munguia said: “I think Gabriel will come out and box, use his jab. But I have to be very careful, because Gabriel is a very experienced fighter.
“I feel I need to be prepared for whatever Gabe is able to do in the ring and adapt to that.
“But of course I will make sure I am the best version of myself fight night and take control of the fight on the night.”
Munguia was ruled out of filling in for Canelo – who was serving a six-month drug ban – to face GGG at late notice almost four years ago amid safety fears.
Now settled at middleweight, the heavy-hitter – who snubbed the Olympics to turn professional at 16 – has set his sights on finally fighting Kazakhstan’s 39-year-old danger man.
And the move up to middleweight has also put him within touching distance of Canelo, 31, now the undisputed super-middleweight champion.

Alvarez has long yearned for a Mexican counter part fit to share the spotlight, having failed to do so with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, 35, who he dominated in 2017.
Munguia’s trainer Morales came off second best in his epic trilogy series with Barrera, which stretched from 2000-2004.
The brutal rounds still live long in the memory for boxing fans, and has inspired Munguia to try and one day replicate the rivalry with Canelo.
He said: “I think that would be something historic. It would be a very exciting fight, for all boxing fans to see.”
“Obviously, it would be a great war. I’d apply a lot of pressure, come forward. That’s what Mexican fighters do.
“It would be an exciting war for all the fans.”

The Gypsy King, 33, retained his WBC heavyweight title last month when he defeated the Bronze Bomber in their thrilling trilogy showdown.
But Lee says that Fury told him over a coffee beforehand that he was leaning towards retirement.
However, now with victory under his belt and the prospect of an all British clash against mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte on the horizon, the fan favourite will get back into the ring to defend his belt.
Lee told TalkSPORT: “Well I arrived in Morecambe a few weeks ago, the first day we went out for a coffee and I said, ‘What do you do? Do you retire, do you hang them up?’
“He said, ‘Well, I’m thinking that way.’ And then he said, ‘On the other hand, what else am I going to do with my life?’
“He loves to train, he loves to fight and although there are no challenges out there for him, he can still take a lot of pleasure in cleaning out the division and beating up these other guys and also earn a hell of a lot of money while doing it.”

Discussing the showdown with Fury, Lee also revealed Fury’s excitement over his upcoming defence against Whyte.
Lee added: “He likes the Dillian Whyte fight.
“He is enthused by that, that’s what he is talking about to me so I can see that being the next one.”
