Tyson Fury snubs Anthony Joshua, Oleksandr Usyk and Dillian Whyte and thinks Joe Joyce is ‘the best one out there’

TYSON FURY has picked Joe Joyce as ‘the best one out there’ to challenge for his throne in a surprise snub to his other heavyweight rivals. Fury right now is the top dog in the division, having knocked out Deontay Wilder.

And if Dillian Whyte beats Otto Wallin on October 30, he will be the next in line for the Gypsy King’s WBC title.
Fighting for the undisputed crown is also in Fury’s sights before the end of 2022, but he has to first wait for Anthony Joshua to rematch Oleksandr Usyk.
Despite all the usual suspects lurking underneath him, the unbeaten champion believes British contender Joyce is the best of the bunch.
His promoter Frank Warren told Sky Sports: “I was talking to Tyson about him. Tyson said that he’s the best one out there.
“That’s what Tyson’s opinion was. Can he go all the way? Yes he can. He’s got a good ticker, a big heart.
“He’s strong, he walks forwards, he is the ‘Juggernaut’. Whoever he’s in there with, you know they will have a problem getting rid of him.
“He’s a tough guy. He can fight a bit. He can punch.”

Joyce, 35, looked in line to fight Usyk, 34, for the WBO ‘interim’ title while Joshua, 32, was in talks to fight Fury, 33, in the summer.
But instead Wilder, 35, won an arbitration case which meant he forced through his contracted trilogy bout with the Gypsy King.
He later lost it after 11 thrilling rounds, just weeks after Usyk dethroned AJ of the unified titles at Tottenham’s stadium.
The heavyweight saga meant Joyce, who sparred Fury in 2018, was frozen out, but did get placed as the WBO’s next mandatory challenger.
He returned in July with a win over veteran Carlos Takam, 40, and will now wait patiently in the heavyweight queue.
But his promoter fancies Joyce’s chances against Usyk, who he lost to in the amateur World Series of Boxing tournament in 2013.

Warren said: “Him and Usyk would be a great fight. He could hurt Usyk, he’s a big man.
“Could he beat Usyk? Yes. He fancies it and I fancy it. He isn’t going to back off Usyk. He’d let his shots go.
“It won’t be the little man out-jabbing the big man – that will not be happening.”

Errol Spence Jr returns to gym after eye surgery but Terence Crawford questions if rival will ‘ever be the same fighter’

ERROL SPENCE JR has returned to training after successful surgery on his eye as he was pictured skipping in his gym. The WBC and IBF unified welterweight champion was due to fight boxing legend Manny Pacquiao in August.

But two weeks beforehand, Spence was forced to withdraw after revealing an injury in sparring left him needing surgery on retinal tear.
Cuban Yordenis Ugas, 35, was elevated from the undercard and filled in to beat Pacquiao, 42, who announced his retirement soon after.
But Spence, 31, has now started training again as his coach Derrick James posted a picture of the American alongside light-heavyweight Marcus Browne, 30.
The unbeaten Texan beat Danny Garcia, 33, in a comeback last September, his first fight since escaping death in a horror car crash.
Spence was hit with a DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) after his Ferrari flipped in the high-speed accident in October 2019.
But he made a full recovery and convincingly beat Garica over 12 rounds.

Despite losing out on a super-fight with Pacquiao, Spence again wants to face the biggest names in the division.
But long-time rival Terence Crawford questioned how Spence will recover from the eye injury.
Crawford, 34, said: “I don’t feel like our fight should’ve took that long. He’s gotten two injuries since.
“Who knows if Errol Spence will ever be the same fighter that he once was when he was considered the boogeyman of the division?”

His dad and trainer John revealed talks are progressing well and is left in no doubt his son makes easy work of the social media star.
But he warned if Tommy suffered a disastrous defeat, it would come with brutal consequences.
John told GiveMeSport: “We’re nearly there with the business side of it with Jake Paul.
“They’re being greedy, but like I say, we know our worth, we want as much as we can out of this job.
“But we’re nearly there, this fight is going to happen, we’re 99.9 per cent of the way there.
“It’s almost done, we’ve just got a few T’s to cross and I’s to dot and we’re nearly there over the line, but it will happen.

“Will Tommy beat Jake Paul? Absolutely. He’s a silly man because believe me, like Jake Paul is saying, if Tommy lost to Jake Paul, he would have to change his name to ‘Tommy Fumbles’.
“Plus Tyson would batter him, Hughie would batter him, Shane would batter him, and we would retire him from boxing there and then, so there’s no pressure really!”
Tommy, 22, admitted he rejected two deals to fight Paul, 24, believing he was being lowballed.
But hope was not lost and talks continued, with Paul even adding an extra wager for the loser.
He will have to pay Fury an additional $500,000 if he loses, but should he win, the light-heavyweight would have to change his surname to ‘Fumbles’.
The deal was accepted and promoter Warren confirmed talks are heading in the right direction for a fight by the year’s end.
Warren told iFL TV: “At the moment we’re working through the terms, we’re quite close and I’m hoping we can get it over the line.

“It’s a great fight for Tommy. It’s a very lucrative fight for him. Financially, how can you turn that down?
“I think he wins it. It’s captured everyone’s imagination, it’s all they were talking about out in the States.
“Hopefully, we will finish it off this week and we can move forward. It’ll be in late November, December.”
Paul only turned pro in January 2020 and did so with a stoppage in the first round against online rival ‘AnEsonGib’.
He then knocked out ex-NBA star Nate Robinson and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, both 37.
But his biggest win to date came in August against ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, 39, on points over eight rounds.

Tyson Fury gets pal Joseph Parker and ex-opponent Derek Chisora on FaceTime ahead heavyweight rivals’ December rematch

It has left the pair ready to do it all over again back in Manchester on December 18 in a Christmas cracker.
But the war of words could have started early after Fury put the pair on a FaceTime call.
The Gypsy King, 33, twice beat old rival Chisora, 37, in 2011 and then 2014 but they have since formed a friendship born out of respect.
But Fury more recently has enjoyed a bromance with Parker, 29, who beat his cousin Hughie, 27, in 2017.
Before the rematch was confirmed, the New Zealander’s promoter David Higgins said Chisora could be sent into retirement.
Higgins told Sky Sports: “There’s talk of Derek Chisora and a rematch.

“If I was Chisora, I’d be planning my retirement after that fight, if it is to happen.
“It’s under negotiation now, so the fight is not confirmed. What I do know is that Chisora has vocally said he wants a rematch with Joseph Parker.
“Joseph is quite happy to fight Chisora again. He knows exactly what he’s dealing with now.
“Chisora had that early first round punch, but Joseph is confident he can make good work of Chisora and put him away into retirement.”

UFC champion Francis Ngannou names heavyweight boxing legends Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson as his two dream fights

FRANCIS NGANNOU named heavyweight boxing legends Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson as his two dream fights. The UFC champion was asked to name which fantasy opponent he wishes he could most face.

But Ngannou snubbed even the best MMA icons of the past to instead opt for two of the most celebrated boxers of all time.
Speaking on Jeff’s Barbershop, he said: “I think I will put Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson.”
Ngannou first dreamed of a boxing career aged 22 before he moved to France.
But instead he transitioned to MMA as it was easier to find fights and by 2013 the Cameroonian made his debut.
After just six years 13 bouts into his UFC career, Ngannou, 35, this March won the title by knocking out Stipe Miocic, 39, the man he lost to in 2018.
But the hard-hitter has flirted with a move to boxing to fight the likes of Tyson Fury, 33, Anthony Joshua, 32, and Dillian Whyte, 33.

And again Ngannou publicised his intentions to crossover to the ring after revealing financial struggles, even while reigning as UFC champ.
He said on the MMA Hour: “MMA is more difficult than boxing. I feel I should not be needing to borrow money for my training camp.
“At some point, I’m gonna go after the money. I’m going to boxing for sure. I’m not challenging the system, I’m just saying my right.
“I have not signed a new deal yet, because I do not want to sign a deal on these certain terms as I do not feel protected.
“In the past two years I have had to borrow money and nobody cares about it and I have no guarantee in that deal.
“At some point, I’m gonna go after the money. I’m going to boxing for sure. I’m not challenging the system, I’m just saying my right.Francis Ngannou
“So based on that experience I am trying to get better terms on my contract, and what I believe that I deserve.
“According to what they said, I am on an independent contract so I want a terminated date so after that I can be free.
“Then after that I would like to be free, so then you have a right from there to decide where you going and what you are going to do.
“I will also then not be forced to keep signing the contract (with a termination date), so that is not being an independent contract.
“If you say I am challenging the system, I already am having a hard time getting out at the moment but I can assure you that I am not.”
UFC star Francis Ngannou says he is sick of ‘borrowing money’ as he hints at boxing switch as Fury and Wilder rake in £18m each More
