Derek Chisora called out by Tyson Fury’s cousin Hughie for heavyweight fight and also targets Joseph Parker rematch

HUGHIE FURY, cousin of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has called out Derek Chisora for a British heavyweight blockbuster fight. Fury – now No4 in the WBA rankings – blitzed past Christian Hammer on Saturday night.

The 27-year-old forced the German to retire in the fifth round.
And now according to BOXXER promoter Ben Shalom, Fury wants to take on veteran Chisora at the start of 2022.
Shalom told Sky Sports: “Hughie Fury can be a world champion.
“Christian Hammer was no joke and I think we saw a Hughie that was landing cleaner shots, that was more confident in himself, more confident in his body, and had more power.
“Whether Christian was injured or not, I’m not sure. He took a lot of shots and I think Hughie hurt him.
“The heavyweight division at the moment is all over the place. It’s wide open.

“With Hughie, we’re going to look to try and make the Chisora fight early next year. That is what we feel is the next step-up for him.”
Chisora is focussed on his rematch against Joesph Parker at the end of this year.
The 37-year-old lost to the New Zealander via split decision last time out, and he’s desperate to avenge the loss.
So much so he turned down a fight with Fury, says Shalom.
The promoter continued: “We offered Derek the fight.
“I think he knows how good Hughie Fury is – and how technical he is.
“I think he really wanted the Parker rematch. That was what he wanted. He didn’t want to fight Hughie Fury, but let’s see after December, it might be different then.”

Anthony Joshua pictured with Charlo brothers and American boxing trainer Ronnie Shields as he continues touring US gyms

ANTHONY JOSHUA has been pictured with Jermell and Jarmall Charlo as well as boxing trainer Ronnie Shields.Shields is the latest coach AJ has visited, after the former heavyweight champion linked up with Canelo Alvarez and Joshua Buatsi.

Anthony Joshua has been on holiday in America
Joshua went to Virgil Hunter’s Los Angeles gym to see light-heavyweight Buatsi, 28, who he manages.
And he was then captured at Canelo’s adopted US training base in San Diego, headed up by esteemed trainer Eddy Reynoso.
Now Joshua, wearing training gear with his hands wrapped, posed for a picture with the Charlo brothers and coach Shields in Houston, Texas.
The experienced cornerman trains WBC middleweight champion Jermall and Cuban former two-weight champ Guillermo Rigondeaux.
Joshua, 32, is enjoying some down time Stateside after his recent defeat to Oleksandr Usyk, 34, in September.
But he appears to be making the most of it with a spot of training and picking the brains of current champions like Canelo, 31, and Charlo, 31.

Following Joshua’s 12-round decision loss to Usyk he faced calls to replace his training team.
But those same doubts were raised when he lost to Andy Ruiz Jr in June 2019, before brilliantly winning the rematch six months later.
His loyalty was rewarded when he reclaimed the WBA, IBF and WBO belts after smartly switching tactics to outbox Ruiz, 32.
And there is no suggestion yet Joshua will part ways with trusted coach Rob McCracken, who had twice led him to unified titles as well as Olympic gold.
But AJ did bring in two additional trainers in Angel Fernandez and Joby Clayton before avenging defeat to Ruiz.
Gaining knowledge from coaches in America can only be a good thing before Joshua prepares to fight Usyk once more.
AJ will always look at his preparation and see how he can improve. If that’s changing things up, looking at bringing people in, or whatever he’s got to do, he will do that.Promoter Eddie Hearn
He has officially invoked his right to an immediate rematch, Eddie Hearn confirmed, with a target date of March or April.
And the promoter did not rule out new faces in the training team in order to become the first to figure out the Usyk puzzle, who is unbeaten in 19 fights.
Hearn told Boxing Social: “I think what AJ will wanna do is analyse why he performed like that.
“Yeah, the tactics weren’t right, he underperformed, but why?
“It’s difficult just to say, ‘He didn’t get the tactics right and he underperformed,’ because let’s talk about the brilliance of Usyk as well.
“But AJ will always look at his preparation and see how he can improve.
“If that’s changing things up, looking at bringing people in, or whatever he’s got to do, he will do that.”

Jake Paul fight with Tommy Fury set for December 18 in Miami after months of talks between celebrity fighting rivals

JAKE PAUL and Tommy Fury are set to fight in a grudge match on December 18 in Miami. The two have been going back-and-forth relentlessly online in recent months but talks progressed behind the scenes.

And despite recent bumps in the road, SunSport understands a deal is over the line for a Christmas cracker.
They both fought as recently as August 28 on the same card, with Paul beating ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, 39, over eight rounds.
Earlier in the night, Fury, 22, did the same against the YouTube star’s sparring partner Anthony Taylor, 32, on points in a four-rounder.
The rival fighters then clashed backstage with their opposing teams before security had to pull them apart.
Negotiations soon followed but Fury publicly admitted he turned two offers down, believing he had been lowballed.
Paul’s effort to bump up the deal to $1million, plus additional pay-per-view upsides, were also knocked back.

But Fury’s promoter Frank Warren recently confirmed talks were heading in the right direction, as he grew confident a deal would be met.
Paul turned pro in January 2020 beating online rival ‘AnEsonGib’ in one round and 11 months later knocked out ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 37.
He then beat retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 37, in the first round in April before his biggest win, against Woodley.
Fury is 7-0 and debuted in 2018 to much fanfare due to the popularity of his unbeaten older brother, WBC heavyweight champion Tyson.
But a year later he shot to mainstream fame after finishing runner-up in hit reality TV show Love Island with his now-girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague.
The light-heavyweight has so far faced mainly journeyman opposition, a regularity for most boxers in their early days of the trade.
But he signed a two-fight contract with US network Showtime this year and made his Stateside debut against MMA fighter Taylor.
The second part of the deal will now see him fight Paul following months of trash talk and viral goading.

Tyson, 55, came out of retirement for an exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr, 52, which ended in a draw after eight rounds.
He has confirmed his intentions to fight again and was even called out by Paul’s older brother Logan.
But Iron Mike – the youngest heavyweight champion ever aged 20 – has ruled out facing the younger Paul, no matter how easy he thinks it would be.
Asked on the Full Send Podcast if he could KO Paul, Tyson said: “So f***ing easy. Yeah, but I would never.
“I’d be against my own f***ing family. They love this little white motherf****er You know what I mean?
“He got balls. He’s got f***ing balls. When you see a white boy with balls, you know. I’m talking about for real, but f*** you motherf***er. Yeah, but nah man, let him have his f***ing reign.”

Freddie Roach knew Manny Pacquiao would be a champ after ONE ROUND on pads and says there will never be another PacMan

LEGENDARY boxing trainer Freddie Roach knew Manny Pacquiao would be a champion after just ONE ROUND on the pads together. And following Pacquiao’s recent retirement, the Hall of Fame coach insisted there will never be another PacMan.

Roach first met the future boxing icon in 2001, when he was an unknown former flyweight world champion looking to escape poverty through a career in fighting.
Pacquiao, now 42, had travelled to America for training and initially set up in San Francisco, before heading almost 400 miles south to Los Angeles.
It was there he walked into Roach’s now iconic Wild Card boxing gym, and the rest is history.
Roach told SunSport: “From the day he walked in my gym, he said, ‘I heard you’re good on the mitts’.
“We did one round on the mitts and he said, ‘I think I have a new coach’. I said, ‘I think I have a new fighter’.
“And from one round on mitts I just knew, we just connected with each other and he’s always been a great person and a great guy.
“He’s a great example of how great champions train, this didn’t happen by luck, he trained his ass off everyday and he’s the best role model out there for any younger fighter.”

In their first fight together, Pacquiao became an overnight sensation when he knocked out Lehlohonolo Ledwaba to win the super-bantamweight title.
It kickstarted one of the most celebrated careers of all time, which ended with PacMan reigning over EIGHT divisions.
But following defeat to Cuban Yordenis Ugas in August, Pacquiao soon called it quits on his historic run after an incredible 72 fights over FOUR decades.
It leaves Roach behind with an equal amount of memories made and lessons learned, which he still uses to coach his current stable of fighters.
That even includes Filipino proteges of Pacquiao’s – but they can never be compared to the great man himself.
Roach said: “I have a lot of fighters that I train right now and a couple of Filipino fighters.
“Everyone asks, ‘Is he the next Manny Pacquiao?’ There is no next Manny Pacquiao!

“This is a one-time deal, we’ve had a great relationship for a long, long time and I don’t compare any Filipino fighter to Manny Pacquiao.
“There’s some great fighters out there, I have a couple of good prospects yes, but they aren’t what Manny Pacquiao was.
“An eight-weight world champion, that record will never be broken I feel.”
Pacquiao was due to challenge Errol Spence Jr, 31, for the unbeaten American’s unified WBC and IBF welterweight titles.
But Spence withdrew after suffering an eye injury in sparring, leaving Ugas elevated from the undercard to later win on points.
PacMan soon after confirmed his boxing exit in a tearful retirement speech and revealed he will run for presidency of the Philippines next year.
Paying tribute to his friend and now former fighter, Roach said: “When the tear came to his eye in the speech it touched me.
“I’m happy he’s calling it quits and he’s going on to possibly bigger and better things.”

But his dad and coach John is already talking up a follow up fight against Logan afterwards.
He said the True Geordie podcast: “Well if he gets Jake Paul, we’d like to go after his brother Logan Paul.
“Once he smashes, sorry when he smashes Jake Paul, he’ll take on his brother Logan and smash him along if he fancied it.
“But let me tell you, once they see what Tommy does to Jake Paul, they’re not going to want it.”
Logan, 26, is officially 0-1 as a professional boxer, losing to online rival KSI, 28, by split-decision in 2019, a year after they drew in a white collar bout.
But he returned in June for a remarkable exhibition against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, 44, which ended without a winner after no knockout was scored.

Jake meanwhile is 4-0 and most recently beat ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, 39, on points over eight rounds in August.
On the undercard, 7-0 Fury beat his sparring partner Anthony Taylor, 32, which has set up the two celebrities to fight.
Talks are progressing for a grudge match and John warned he will force his son to retire if he cannot KO Jake inside four rounds.
He said: “If it’s a close fight Tommy’s retired. If Tommy beats him and struggles to beat him, he’s retired from boxing.
“He is a YouTuber. He’s got to be knocking Jake Paul out. He’s got to box him and knock him out, he’s a YouTuber.
“And I’m not wasting my time on people in the gym because I haven’t got a lot of time left at 56-years-old.
“So I’m not going to train with somebody I’ve got no faith in. So I’ve told him, ‘unless you knock him out, pal, forget me with boxing.’ I’ll walk away.”

Conor McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis claims Tyron Woodley was contractually ‘not allowed’ to KO Jake Paul

DILLON DANIS has claimed Tyron Woodley was ‘not allowed’ to knock out Jake Paul as it was ‘in the contract’. Paul scored the biggest win in his four-fight boxing career in August as he beat ex-UFC champion Woodley on points over eight rounds.

But it did not come after some scares for the YouTube sensation, who in round four was sent into the ropes after a right hand.
Woodley was unable to follow up as Paul recovered to eventually see the danger out and win on the scorecards.
But Danis, a training partner of Conor McGregor’s who has feuded with the social media star before, made sensational allegations about the fight without any evidence.
He said on The MMA Hour: “Tyron Woodley, from what I heard, had it in the contract that he was not allowed to knock out Jake Paul.
“I swear on anything, when he was against the ropes, I swear, that’s why when Jake Paul was against the ropes, Tyron Woodley didn’t hit him.

Danis, 28, was offered the chance to fight Paul, 24, in March but declined amid a knee injury.
Ex-UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 37, instead agreed and was knocked out in one round in April.
Paul followed it up with his win over Woodley, 39, to go 4-0 as is now in talks with Tyson Fury’s brother Tommy.
He has ruled out ever fighting Danis, after his initial offer was turned down, and told Fury, 22, the same could happen if they do not agree terms.
But Danis, who is 2-0 in MMA but has not fought since 2019, believes he will fight Paul in the future, when he returns from injury.
Tyron Woodley, from what I heard, had it in the contract that he was not allowed to knock out Jake Paul. Dillon Danis
He said: “So, I’m allowed to do boxing, I’m saying in a month-and-a-half, two months.
“Right now, I can’t. I’m not allowed to turn my leg, so I can’t even do boxing. I’m not allowed to even pivot, that’s what I’m saying.
“I don’t think it’s about not being [able to fight him]. I think the fight will happen.
“He’s still calling me out. I mean, the thing is like, these fights should happen, you know.
“It’s just like Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov. These fights need to happen.
“And I think that me and him have so much beef. It’s not like anything ever happened – He hasn’t lost. I haven’t lost. I think we should do it.”

‘A quick pay cheque’ – Jorge Masvidal open to Jake Paul fight when he finishes with UFC and ‘hit him so ‘f***ing hard’

JORGE MASVIDAL has opened the door to a fight with Jake Paul – but only after his career in the UFC is done. Paul has called out the UFC welterweight recently, despite the pair previously training together.

But Masvidal fights Leon Edwards on December 11 next and still has aspirations of winning the UFC title, despite consecutive defeats to champion Kamaru Usman.
And he believes a mega-money boxing match with Paul will still be on the table once his time in the octagon comes to a close.
Masvidal said on the MMA Hour: “Right now, where I’m at in my career, I’m gonna fight the world’s best fighters in the world.
“We can both agree that they’re in the f***ing UFC. In 170 pounds there’s a lot of good guys and I could f***ing beat them.
“And I’m gonna get the most money out of it, my brother.
“Now when I’m done beating up world-class fighters, if this will still be around, I’ll go and collect a quick pay cheque for hitting him so f****** hard in front of the whole world.
“Those other options will always be there. But right now while I’m in my prime, I gotta do things that people in their prime do and that’s fight the world’s best. He’s not in that conversation or ever will be.”

Masvidal, 36, linked up with Paul, 24, earlier in the year when the YouTube star fought his ex-opponent Ben Askren, 37.
Askren was knocked out in one round which saw the American social media sensation go 3-0 as a boxer.
But then Paul signed to face Masvidal’s friend and training partner Tyron Woodley, 39, which started a feud between the pair.
Paul called Masvidal an ‘air head’ and revealed aspirations to fight the former UFC title challenger.
But Masvidal hit back: “He knows at the end of the day, on a face-to-face. Unless he has his 50 bodyguards and I’m by myself.
“Because at the end of the day I can always pick this little kid up and slam him through the concrete so hard that he will be invalid for the rest of his life.”
Paul is 4-0 as a boxer with wins over online rival ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA player Nate Robinson as well ex-UFC pair Askren and Woodley.
Masvidal meanwhile was beaten by UFC welterweight king Usman, 34, in July 2020 and then knocked out in their April rematch.
