Canelo Alvarez would ‘love to fight in England’ as promoter Eddie Hearn teases Mexican star headlining at Wembley

EDDIE HEARN revealed Canelo Alvarez would ‘love to fight in England’ as the promoter teased a headliner at Wembley. The boxing poster boy has never ventured outside of America or Mexico in his 59 fight career.

But Hearn – who has promoted free agent Canelo in his last three fights – will look to change that.
Asked on Instagram Live about Alvarez, 30, coming to Wembley, he replied: “I’ve already spoke to Canelo about coming to England to fight next year.
“And he would love to do it, love to fight in England.”
Hearn promoted Canelo’s wins over Callum Smith, 31, Avni Yildirim, 30, and Billy Joe Saunders, 31, recently all on sports streaming service DAZN.
But he will not have direct involvement for Alvarez’s undisputed super-middleweight title decider with Caleb Plant, 29, over the weekend.
A win for Canelo would crown him as undisputed champion for the first time ever in his illustrious career.

It will also mean he has cleared out the 168lb division and leave him with a decision on what to do next.
Hearn has previously revealed a plan to take the pound-for-pound No1 international.
He told Sky Sports in May: “His plan now is to go and become undisputed – that’s a fight with Caleb Plant.
“And then from there he wants to go and box around the world.
“He’d love to fight in the UK, I think his popularity here is through the roof. He’s beaten, what? Seven UK fighters over the years.
“So he’d love to fight here, he said he’d love to fight in the Middle East, in the Far East and of course in Mexico in a huge show.
“I think you’re gonna see him box around the world.
“He told me that he wants to fight for seven more years, so you’re gonna be seeing a lot of Canelo Alvarez.”

Eddie Hearn reveals Anthony Joshua is ‘angry and mad’ after Usyk loss as he defends pal after X-rated interview

EDDIE HEARN has leapt to the defence of Anthony Joshua following criticism of the former heavyweight champ’s recent X-rated interview.Several boxing fans took aim at AJ after his latest interview – in which he declared he was ‘done with f***ing losing’ after his unanimous decision defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.

But promoter Eddie Hearn has leapt to the defence of JoshuaCredit: INSTAGRAM
Critics accused Joshua of showing his true persona in the interview with iFL TV, a notion which has annoyed his long-time promoter Hearn.
The Matchroom Boxing chief told DAZN: “I just think that a lot of people when AJ gives like that, they’re like, ‘Oh, the real AJ has come out.’
“The real AJ has always BEEN there. But I think because of his position in British boxing, he’s always under pressure.
“He’s an ambassador, he’s a role model – he has to behave in a certain way.
“He shouldn’t swear too much, there’s kids watching.
“And I think now, he’s just sort of thrown it out of the window and gone, ‘You know what, let’s just say it how it is.

“‘I need to go to war with Oleksandr Usyk and I’m gonna rip his head off.’
“And we need that, we need that mentality.
“It’s not something that he’s trying to get back. It’s there. But we need to bring it out firing.”
Joshua, 32, had the unified heavyweight titles ripped from his clutches by a slick and savvy Usyk at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September.
And the Watford warrior is champing at the bit to exact revenge on the undefeated Ukrainian.
Hearn added: “Right now, he’s angry, mad. And that’s perfect because that’s fueling the fire in his belly to go and [win].
“And he wants to win more than anything. The best thing that I’m seeing from him now is this.”
Joshua will renew his rivalry with Usyk early next year, although a date for their rematch has not yet been finalised.
Hearn is eyeing a spring showdown between the Olympic gold medallists, telling talkSPORT: “There’s nothing wrong with the Ukraine, I have no idea what it’s like in February, but I’d like it back in the UK.
“We will sit down with Usyk’s team and we will look at the options.

“We’ve had a couple of international offers come in for that rematch as well.
“I said to AJ the other day ‘are you sure you don’t lose these fights deliberately just to have these massive rematches?’
“It’s a huge fight again, but I’d love to do it back in the UK, probably in March or April.
“It’s a fight he must win.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn has a ‘terrible feeling’ Jake Paul will BEAT Love Island star Tommy Fury in celebrity grudge match

EDDIE HEARN admitted he has a ‘terrible feeling’ Jake Paul will BEAT Tommy Fury in their celebrity grudge match. YouTuber Paul and Love Island star Fury have signed to fight on December 18 in Florida.

Tyson Fury pictured with brother Tommy
It has already attracted huge attention and was the first thing promoter Hearn was asked about on Instagram Live.
And when quizzed on who he is picking to win, Hearn said: “I have got a terrible feeling that Jake Paul might win.”
He promoted Paul’s professional boxing debut, a one round win over online rival ‘AnEsonGib’ in January 2020.
Then he knocked out ex-NBA player Nate Robinson and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 37.
Most recently, the American beat ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, 39, over eight rounds, to go 4-0.
On the undercard, Fury, 22, beat Paul’s sparring partner Anthony Taylor, 32, to go 7-0.

Hearn has been quick to applaud Paul’s ability but warned defeat for Fury, brother to heavyweight champion Tyson, would be disastrous.
He said: “I’ve only watched Tommy Fury once in a UK show beating a guy that I could’ve beaten.
“And then I watched that last fight he was in, the four-rounder against the guy who sparred with Jake.
“Logic and hope would tell you a professional boxer that boxed for a living and was also Tyson Fury’s brother should never, ever lose to Jake Paul.
“But Jake Paul is not horrific, there’s a lot of pro fighters worse than Jake Paul.
“I’ve seen them, I’ve had a lot of them on my shows in with young kids coming through.
“But it’s just the most embarrassing thing if he loses that fight.”

Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury: Boxer who has fought both fighters breaks down why YouTuber will ‘DOMINATE’ Love Island star

JAKE PAUL will “dominate” Tommy Fury when the two fight on December 18.That is according to Anthony ‘Pretty Boy’ Taylor, who has fought against both boxers.

On the same card that saw Paul outpoint UFC legend Tyron Woodley, Fury easily beat Taylor by the same method.
And despite being outclassed by the former Love Island star, Taylor was not impressed with what he saw first hand.
And he predicts sparring partner Paul will have too much for the younger brother of WBC heavyweight champ Tyson.
Speaking to Vegas Insider, Taylor, 32, said: “If I had to put my life on the line I’d predict Jake is going to dominate Fury. He might most likely KO Fury, or TKO.
“When you look at Tommy versus Jake, it’s more like Anthony Joshua versus Uysk. Think about it, Jake moves around well using footwork and has good head movement. He moves around like Usyk.
“When you look at Tommy, he’s very stationary, like Anthony Joshua. He relies on that one big punch. So that’s how the fight’s going to be.

“Don’t expect Tommy Fury to be bouncing on his tippy toes, but expect Jake to do that because Jake got good ring awareness.”
Taylor accepts Fury’s longer reach – 80in compared to Paul’s 76in – will be advantageous for the Brit.
But he believes Fury has ‘no knockout power’ and is ‘nowhere near Jake’s level’.
The Californian added: “Tommy doesn’t have power, he doesn’t hold power. He has no pop.
“I felt every shot he hit me with, I wasn’t intimidated. I just kept coming forward. You can obviously tell that Tommy doesn’t have a lot of experience with sparring and fighting.
Tommy is green, Tommy’s not anywhere near Jake’s levelAnthony ‘Pretty Boy’ TaylorFury’s Former Opponent and Paul’s Sparring Partner
“On the other hand Jake is actually fighting high class athletes. You know, they might not be boxers, but they are world class athletes.
“Jake is twice as good as Tommy. Tommy only has that long reach. You take that long reach away and he becomes a mediocre fighter.
“Tommy is green, Tommy’s not anywhere near Jake’s level. I get it, people are going to say you’re biased because you train with Jake. But I fought Tommy, Tommy doesn’t have knockout power.
“When you look at Tyron Woodley, I guarantee you Tyron Woodley can knock out all the opponents that Tommy has fought.
“Same thing with Ben Askren. Ben Askren was out of his prime but a younger version of Ben would definitely have taken out everybody that Tommy’s fought.”

Tyson Fury ‘100% serious’ about training Anthony Joshua for Usyk so Brits can finally fight, claims Gypsy King’s coach

TYSON FURY is ‘100 per cent’ serious about training Anthony Joshua to beat Oleksandr Usyk, claimed his coach SugarHill Steward. Joshua was beaten by Usyk in September and has been trailing trainers in America to add to his team ahead of their rematch.

Fury then offered his services alongside his cornerman SugarHill – nephew to the legendary Emanuel.
And according to SugarHill, the offer was genuine as the Gypsy King is desperate for Joshua to get back on track – so that they can fight.
He told talkSPORT: “We are 100 per cent serious about helping Joshua in camp.
“We want him to defeat Usyk, for a start, because we want to see Fury against Joshua, and so do all the fans of boxing in the world
“It is not a ruse or a joke, we would happily help Joshua because he is capable of beating Usyk in the rematch, and this is nothing new.
“In the old days, all boxers travelled to different gyms for assistance. This is a sport, and we have to think of it as a sport.

“Never forget that when heavyweight boxing is strong, the whole of boxing is strong.
“The biggest fight in the sport is Fury versus Joshua, and we all know what that would do for the sport with the two of them fighting for the undisputed crown.
    “It couldn’t be bigger.”
Fury, 33, was all-but confirmed to fight Joshua, 32, for the undisputed heavyweight crown in August.
But his attempt to walk away from a contracted trilogy bout with Deontay Wilder, 36, proved unsuccessful.
Fury later went on to knock Wilder out after 11 thrilling rounds in Las Vegas, just weeks before AJ was stunned against Usyk, 34.
Joshua has now invoked his right to an immediate rematch next year, while Fury looks set to face WBC mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte, 33.

Boxing P4P rankings revealed with Canelo top, Usyk second, Tyson Fury sixth and Anthony Joshua outside top ten

CANELO ALVAREZ has been named as Sports Illustrated’s pound-for-pound king in their latest top ten list. The Mexican superstar is bidding to become the the first undisputed super-middleweight champion when he faces rival Caleb Plant on November 6.
Canelo Alvarez sits top of the pile in Sports Illustrated’s pound-for-pound top ten list
Alvarez, 31, forced Billy Joe Saunders into a stoppage in his last outing as he inflicted a broken eye socket on the British star.
The classy victory extended his record to 56-1-2, with his only defeat coming at the hands of Floyd Mayweather in 2013 when he was just 23.
There can be no denying that the four-weight world champion is one of the most talented boxers of his generation, and no surprise that he sits top of the pile in SI’s list.
But what may come as a shock to fans is that there is no room in the top ten for Anthony Joshua.
The 2012 Olympic gold medallist suffered the second defeat of his professional career last month after being outpointed by Oleksandr Usyk.
After outclassing AJ to win the WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight belts, Usyk has been named second behind Canelo in the P4P rankings.

Usyk will defend his new titles against the Watford native in 2022 after Joshua invoked an immediate rematch clause.
Third in the list is Kell Brook, Amir Khan and Ricky Burns’ former foe Terence Crawford, who has won all 37 of his bouts.
The American, 34, defends his WBO welterweight title for the fifth time next month when he faces compatriot Shawn Porter.
Japanese knockout specialist Naoya Inoue is in fourth sport having blasted out 18 of his 21 opponents.
Bantamweight Inoue, 28, puts his unbeaten record on the line yet again in December when he defends his WBA, IBF and Ring Magazine straps against Aran Dipaen.
Completing the top five is welterweight Errol Spence Jr, who has won all 27 of his clashes inside the squared circle.
However he hasn’t fought since last year after outpointing Danny Garcia to retain his WBC and IBF titles.
Tyson Fury, who was left out of the Ring’s pound-for-pound list, follows in sixth place after his emphatic victory over Deontay Wilder.
Scottish star Josh Taylor is seventh, with the Tartan Tornado creating history in May after becoming the first Brit to become undisputed champion in the four-belt era.
Taylor outpointed Jose Ramirez in May as he floored his rival twice in their super-lightweight showdown.
Teofimo Lopez is eighth on the list after beating Vasyl Lomachenko in their lightweight contest last year, with the Ukrainian in ninth spot.
Nicaraguan ace Ramon Gonzalez has surprisingly taken the final place in the top ten, despite losing a split decision against Juan Francisco Estrada in March.
Many fans and pundits felt Chocolatito deserved the win, and he will have his chance to exact revenge on Estrada in their rematch.

Andy Ruiz Jr planning for ring return in January and wants Tyson Fury, Wilder, Usyk, Whyte or Joshua trilogy in 2022

ANDY Ruiz Jr has the world’s top heavyweights in his sights as the Mexican fighter targets a January return to the ring. The 32-year-old named Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder, Oleksandr Usyk, Dillian Whyte AND an Anthony Joshua trilogy as potential future fights.

And after his sensational victory over AJ in New York almost three years ago, Ruiz fancies taking on another giant of the heavyweight divisionCredit: AP
Originally Ruiz was targeting Polish fighter Adam Kownacki – but that now looks unlikely after two defeats on the bounce for the heavyweight.
Ruiz though still insists there’s plenty of options for his next bout set for January.
Speaking on the Last Stand Podcast, Ruiz said: “We’re still looking but the door is open and there’s so many opportunities right now.”
And after Fury’s stunning victory over Wilder in Las Vegas, Ruiz has revealed he backs himself to come out on top against The Bronze Bomber.
On the possibility of fighting him, Ruiz said: “Yes I do, and I think that would be an amazing fight me against Deontay Wilder.
“We’re both part of the same team, and it’s just business.”

“I wouldn’t mind getting in the ring with him, I’m sure I could beat him.”
Ruiz also went on to namedrop Fury, Usyk, Joshua and Whyte as potential opponents.
But after he laboured to victory over Chris Arreola back in May, Ruiz is unlikely to get a shot at the elite heavyweights anytime soon.
His fight against Arreola was Ruiz’s first time back in the ring since being beaten by Anthony Joshua in July 2019.
The 40-year-old veteran forced Ruiz to take a knee in the second ground before the former unified champ secured victory via unanimous decision.
And boxing fans on Twitter seem to think he’s not on the same level as the likes of Fury and AJ, with one saying: “I like Andy, good guy, but he doesn’t stand a chance. Hate to say it”
Meanwhile another claimed: “Just the 6 fights that he won’t be getting then.”
Instead ex-IBF titleholder Charles Martin has also been touted as a potential next opponent – as well as Cuban fighter Luis Ortiz.

Eddie Hearn ranks his top five heavyweights in world with Anthony Joshua behind Tyson Fury and first place tied

EDDIE HEARN has ranked his top five heavyweight boxers. And his man Anthony Joshua only comes in third.

Eddie Hearn still has faith in Anthony JoshuaCredit: PA
The Matchroom promoter couldn’t separate his top two.
Although neither of them are AJ.
Hearn, 42, diplomatically listed champions Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury as his joint top two – with Joshua a spot behind as he chatted to The True Geordie.
Next up in fourth is another of his clients Dillian Whyte, who is due a shot at Tyson Fury in the spring.
Deontay Wilder, beaten in an epic by Fury last month, rounds off Hearn’s top five.
Despite listing AJ below Fury and Usyk, the matchroom promoter still believes that his man can beat both fighters and become the unified heavyweight champion of the world.

He said: “Tyson Fury I think beats Oleksandr Usyk.
“I do, because of the size, the movement.
“I think it’s a great fight, it might not be the most interesting to watch.
“I believe Anthony Joshua can beat them all.”
The 32-year-old will have the chance to regain his belts from Usyk in the spring, having triggered his rematch clause.
AJ has recently spent time working with trainers in the US, in a bid to push himself out of his ‘comfort zone’.
He has also accepted a stunning offer from Tyson Fury to spar together before the Usyk rematch.
The Gypsy King, meanwhile, has a bout with Whyte on the horizon – after the Body Snatcher bypassed Otto Wallin following a shoulder injury.
