It was expected to be the ex-Disney actor’s hardest fight since turning professional, but he silenced his critics in emphatic fashion.
Paul then outpointed former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley on a split decision in August.
And Askren, 37, has admitted he was surprised by Paul’s qualities during his appearance on Lex Freidman’s podcast.
He said: “So the thing I said when I went in to fight him [Jake Paul] is maybe he’s good or maybe he’s not. We really have no idea to this point, you know
“I knew that Tyron was a lot better in boxing than I was.
“And so I thought that there is a good likelihood that Tyron beats him up but there is a chance that Jake is kind of good at this.

“I think what played out is he’s kind of good at it.
“And if you saw the way I saw it, he was still impressive in his showing and he has obviously put a lot of time into it. So, he’s not bad, I’ll say that much.”
UFC welterweight Diaz hit out at Askren over his views, as he tweeted: “Coming from a retired wrestler who can’t fight or box.”
Paul then chimed in, as he compared Diaz’s 13 defeats inside the octagon to Askren’s two.
He remarked: “You have six times as many losses as Ben Askren. Let that sink in.”
Diaz then fired back: “He sucks Jake. You’d get smoked n a real fight tho (sic).
“You can’t really fight boxing matches with wrestlers only. Let that sink in.”
Paul is currently preparing for his dust-up against Tommy Fury in Florida next month.

And he has vowed to embarrass the Fury family as he looks to knock out TNT.
He said: “One month to go until December 18th and a complete embarrassment of the Fury family.
“Mark your calendars now to witness history in Tampa.”

Mike Tyson will KILL Logan Paul and YouTuber and brother Jake are ‘conning’ boxing world, slams Tim Witherspoon

YOUTUBE stars Logan and Jake Paul have been slammed for ‘conning the boxing public’ by former heavyweight champion Tim Witherspoon. And Witherspoon, who retired in 2003, claimed good friend Mike Tyson would KILL eldest Logan if their rumoured fight comes to fruition.

He told SunSport: “I think they should separate that type of entertainment so everybody knows it’s only exhibitions.
“It’s a shame that those two brothers are running up there and disrespecting boxers who have really worked hard.
“You know what, there is nobody who is in the top ten current ranking that these brothers are fighting, those brothers know what they’re doing they’re trying to get top guys on TV who are no longer in their peak or non boxers.
“But majority of the people know that they’re not going to win against a top ten ranked real boxer. Mike Tyson will kill him.
“He’s not going to be able to do anything to Mike. Mike’s going to kill him. Mike might not even hurt him; Mike might get in there and play with him.
“So it’s not real serious stuff. And the commission allowed this stuff.”

Tyson, 55, returned last November after 15 years out and drew in an exhibition with Roy Jones Jr, 52, and has been in talks with Logan.
The social media sensation and his brother both stepped foot out of their prior professions for boxing exhibitions in 2018.
Since then, Jake, 24, has gone 4-0 and fights the younger brother of heavyweight champ Tyson Fury, 32, Tommy, 22, on December 18.
But it will be his first opponent with prior professional boxing experience.
He has previously beaten YouTuber ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA player Nate Robinison, 37, Ben Askren, 37, and Tyron Woodley, 39, both formerly of the UFC.
Logan, 26, lost his pro debut to online rival KSI in 2019, a year after they drew in a white collar bout.

But in June he returned in a extraordinary exhibition with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, 44, which ended without a winner as it went the distance.
Witherspoon, who won the heavyweight title twice, hit out at Logan’s and Jake’s boxing records and their opposition up until now.
He said: “The Paul brothers should be made to fight guys in the top ten, the Logans won’t even win.
“They’re conning the boxing public and community and I think it’s a shame.
“There’s no way these brothers can really beat the top boxers in a real match.
“So, they’re misleading a lot of the boxing community, they’re not real boxers.”

Tommy Fury’s dad sheds light on fight purse for Jake Paul bout and reveals he is earning more than ‘world champions’

JOHN FURY revealed his son Tommy will earn more than ‘some world champions’ for his fight with Jake Paul. The celebrity fighting rivals are set to put unbeaten record, reputations and bragging rights on the line against each other.

John Fury with his son TommyCredit: Rex
They fight over eight rounds at a 192lb catchweight on December 18 in Florida, which will be pay-per-view in the US and UK.
And with their combined fanbases sure to tune in, Tommy’s dad and coach John predicted it makes for a blockbuster cheque.
He told entrepreneur Rob Moore: “Listen, Tommy’s getting paid more money for this than some world champions.
“He’s getting paid in the millions, so if we get millions for getting wet we’re gonna do it, because it’s good business.”
Tommy, 22, comes into the fight 7-0 and more experienced than YouTube star Paul, 24, who is facing his first opponent of prior professional boxing experience.
The social media star previously beat YouTuber ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA player Nate Robinson, 37, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, also 37.

But he beat ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, 39, in his last fight, with Paul winning against his sparring partner Anthony Taylor, 32, on the undercard.
It set the grudge match up, but John admitted the rivalry could continue as they eye big brother Logan, 26, afterwards.
He said: “If he’s on his game, Tommy, and he’s firing on all four cylinders.
“Easy night’s work, easy money and the winner goes on to bigger and better things.
“We’ll get the brother out the game as well, then we’ll start looking at conventional titles for him.

“A brother is gonna wanna redeem another brother isn’t he. When he knocks Jake Paul out, the brother’s gonna wanna take his part ain’t he.
“But I don’t think so because the hiding Tommy’s gonna give Jake Paul, the other brother won’t be interested either.”
Logan is the most inexperienced of the trio, having only three times boxed before.

Firstly, he drew with online rival KSI, 28, in a 2018 white collar bout but won the rematch a year later by split-decision when they turned pro.
But in June he returned for a sensational exhibition with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, 44, which went the distance.
After technically avoiding defeat to Mayweather, Logan is now in rumoured talks with heavyweight icon Mike Tyson, 55, who made his return last November.

David Haye ready to return to boxing to fight Tyson Fury and says he has the FOUR attributes to beat WBC champ

DAVID HAYE has once again declared he would only come out of retirement to face Tyson Fury as the pair have ‘unfinished business’.The 41-year-old’s last professional fight came in May 2018 where he was stopped by Tony Bellew in their rematch.

But the two-weight world champion made a victorious return on his comeback in September in his exhibition contest against friend Joe Fournier.
Haye subsequently called out the Gypsy King for a dust-up, who he was scheduled to fight in 2012 and 2013 only for the Londoner to pull out through injury.
Fury’s dad John then called out Haye himself, but the Millwall fan has insisted he only has eyes for Tyson as he spoke of the four attributes needed to beat him.
Speaking iFL TV about John Fury’s offer, Haye said: “No as I said I am retired, the only person I would come back for is the No1.
“If all of a sudden Tyson Fury suddenly came out and said I want to fight David Haye and we have some unfinished business from 2013.
“Yeah I would definitely consider it for sure, but it gets to a point where it is now about the money.

“Fury has earned good money from big fights with [Deontay] Wilder and everyone still wants the fight with [Anthony] Joshua even though he has lost.
“I like John Fury but maybe he is trying to get in the way, I saw an interview where he was very vocal about me not fighting Tyson.
“Maybe he sees something in me that he doesn’t want in the ring with his son. Maybe that’s why he is trying to distract me from fighting his son.
“The only attributes that are required, I believe, to beat Tyson Fury is quick feet, overhand right, in and out of range and someone who can see the shots as quick as he can.
“The version of me fighting Tony Bellew wasn’t that guy by any stretch, but if there was a way to fatten myself up, maybe this new diet of mine.”
He then joked: “I can feel some of the Fury magic around my stomach at the moment from eating all those pizzas, so maybe I’ll go to the gym and maybe I’ll start feeling a bit Fury-like.”

WBC heavyweight champion Fury has also been called out by Joe Joyce after Dillian Whyte failed to be named as his mandatory opponent.
Posting a picture of the duo posing together, he wrote on Instagram: “I have got lots of respect for Tyson Fury as a friend and as a fighter, but my schedule is free in February.”
His promoter Frank Warren told Sky Sports of the potential bout: “I was talking to Tyson about him. Tyson said that he’s the best one out there.
“That’s what Tyson’s opinion was. Can he go all the way? Yes he can. He’s got a good ticker, a big heart.
“He’s strong, he walks forwards, he is the ‘Juggernaut’. Whoever he’s in there with, you know they will have a problem getting rid of him.
“He’s a tough guy. He can fight a bit. He can punch.”

How friends Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte became enemies, from sparring KO claims to jibes over champ’s ‘real’ name Luke

TYSON FURY and Dillian Whyte’s relationship has turned sour in recent years with a fight between the heavyweight pair edging closer. But it wasn’t always this way.
Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte used to be former sparring partners back in the dayCredit: Instagram
Heavyweight duo Whyte and Fury are now rivals instead of the friends they used to be
The Gypsy King shared old photos of himself alongside the Body Snatcher on Sunday with the duo former sparring partners.
Captioning the snaps, the 33-year-old said: “Funny how people treat you when you are good to them.”
Earlier in the day, Whyte, 33, had called out the WBC champion in a post he shared to his 447,000 Instagram followers.
He remarked: “The coward really doesn’t want any smoke. I can’t wait for my moment, it will be a special night.”
Interim WBC champ Whyte is desperate to land his first heavyweight world title shot, and believes he will be the first person to inflict a defeat on Fury’s professional record.
But unbeaten Mancunian Fury is confident it will be an easy night’s work against his British compatriot.

Here SunSport takes a look at how the ex-pals have turned rivals in recent years…
    CONFLICTING SPARRING CLAIMS
Whyte was twice drafted in to be Fury’s sparring partner – first in Manchester in 2012 ahead of the latter’s bout against Martin Rogan.
And again in the middle of 2013 on the Belgian-Dutch border for Fury’s domestic dust-up against David Haye, which failed to materialise.
Both men have different views on how the sparring went, with the pair insisting that they got the better of one another.
Speaking to Michelle Joy Phelps in 2019, Fury said: “Dillian Whyte is a heavy bag on legs, I punched his head in for him plenty of times in the gym and hopefully I’ll get the opportunity to do it in the ring.”
Both men insist they got the better of each other during their sparring wars in 2012 and 2013
Whyte is chasing a bout to face WBC heavyweight champion Fury in 2022
Meanwhile White told Sky Sports: “Tyson’s awkward, he’s long, he’s rangy, some days he may outbox you here and there, but I definitely laid him out before.
“I definitely put him on his bottom before.”
Before adding: “He’s the one that came out and said he beat me up in the gym. I can tell you now, that didn’t happen.
“I don’t like telling sparring stories, but people in the game know. They know about me. Well, me and Tyson Fury sparred and I bashed him about and dropped him on multiple occasions. Simple as that.”
    WBC CONTROVERSY
Despite Whyte being the No1 challenger to face Deontay Wilder for the WBC strap in 2018, the Bronze Bomber instead chose to face Fury inside the squared circle.
The American, who drew and then lost twice against Fury in their next epic trilogy, labelled Whyte as the ‘s*** on his toilet paper’ earlier this year as he stated he means nothing to him.
After failing to secure a fight against the Alabama native, it was expected that Whyte would be granted a shot at Fury’s belt next.
But the WBC sensationally failed to name him as Fury’s mandatory challenger, much to Whyte’s anger, who had already spent over 1,000 days as Wilder’s mandatory.

Whyte avenged his KO defeat at the hands of Alexander Povetkin earlier this yearCredit: Mark Robinson Matchroom Boxing
Fury then spoke of his dismay at the ruling, as he declared: “I am due for an easy fight so Dillian Whyte would have been ideal, a big punch bag on legs is what I am after and he would have been the ideal candidate.
“But he has his own legal situations going on that he has to sort out first.
“I don’t care who I fight but I am definitely fighting at the end of February or early March, 100 per cent guaranteed.
“And I don’t give a damn who it is because the outcome is always the same, I will win.”
    FIGHT REJECTION
The WBC ruling only added to Whyte’s frustration at not being able to fight Fury after claiming in September that the Gypsy King has twice rejected the chance to pit his wits against him.
In an X-rated Twitter exchange between the pair, Fury said: “Dillian Whyte is a chinless piece of s**t, who is a massive s**thouse and was offered £5million to fight AJ and declined.
“I’m putting you on notice, you bum. Try not to lose again before I smash you to bits in a keep busy fight for me before I smash Anthony Joshua.”

Whyte responded by referencing Fury’s failed VADA tests for cocaine back in 2016.
He tweeted: “Coke head, don’t talk about what you don’t know, talk about the two times you got ordered to fight me and p*****d, you gypsy coward.
“You know where I’m at, coke head. Hit me up baby, I got you covered.”
Fury replied: “I got a real fight to do first! Then I take you as a keep busy fight. Bum.
“I can beat you with one hand behind my back.”
    COOL HAND LUKE
In another claim, Whyte has declared that Fury’s real name is Luke, and he changed it to Tyson to make him sound harder.
The former British and European champ lists his full name as Tyson Luke Fury.
Whyte told SunSport last year: “My real name is Dillian. I know his real name is Luke.
“He changed it to Tyson to make himself sound harder. People can have a little look around on the internet and see for themselves. In boxing, the name Tyson is a lot more sellable than Luke.
“A lot of what Tyson does and says is a game, you can never take anything he says seriously or at face value.
“He might say he wants to fight me sometimes but how can you trust a man who doesn’t even use his own name?”
And earlier this year, Anthony Joshua joined Whyte in calling Fury ‘Luke’ after his fight to face him fell through. More

He told Sky Sports: “I think Usyk beats Joshua again, but I am rooting for Joshua.
“Charles desperately wants to fight and KO Joshua before he retires.
“He’s been focused on that singular goal since 2016 – it’s what motivates him and it’s the reason why he will beat Luiz Ortiz.

‘My schedule is free’ – Tyson Fury called out by rival Joe Joyce for February fight as Brit climbs up WBC rankings

TYSON FURY has been called out for a February bout by British heavyweight rival Joe Joyce. The Juggernaut, 36, boasts an undefeated record – having impressively taken care of Daniel Dubois and Carlos Takam in his last two outings.

And while Joyce respects Fury, he is eager to get in the ring with him.
Alongside a picture of the smiling duo posing together, he wrote on Instagram: “I have got lots of respect for @gypsyking101 as a friend and as a fighter, but my schedule is free in February #letsdothis #WBO1 #WBC2 #THEJUGGERNAUT 👊🏾”
Fury, however, is not expected to return to the ring until March.
It was widely believed that the Gypsy King would next be in action against Dillian Whyte.
But the 33-year-old may have to take care of Otto Wallin first, who he was supposed to face last month before pulling out with a shoulder injury.
Fury’s US promoter Bob Arum recently told Boxing News 24: “Dillian Whyte is not the mandatory, and that’s what the WBC hasn’t done. Dillian Whyte has an obligation to fight Wallin, and we’ll see.

“But again, in March, I’d like Tyson Fury to fight in the UK.
“And I would think among the opponents would be Dillian Whyte or maybe this big English guy, Joe Joyce.”
The 13-0 Brit is currently only ranked behind Whyte, Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr in the WBC rankings.
Asked by Sky Sports about the prospect of Fury fighting Joyce, Frank Warren said: “I was talking to Tyson about him. Tyson said that he’s the best one out there.
“That’s what Tyson’s opinion was. Can he go all the way? Yes he can. He’s got a good ticker, a big heart.
