Gennady Golovkin reveals terms for Canelo Alvarez trilogy fight says he has the ‘secret’ to beat pound-for-pound king

GENNADY GOLOVKIN says he still as the ‘secret’ to beat Canelo Alvarez after revealing his terms for a trilogy bout. Golovkin in 2017 was unfortunate to walk away with only a draw in their initial fight.

And a year later, Canelo emerged with a rematch victory after another middleweight classic, which again divided opinions.
Since then, the Mexican superstar has looked close to unstoppable, becoming a four-division champion and undisputed at super-middleweight.
No one since GGG has taken Canelo to the brink of defeat and in need of favourable scoring.
And the Kazakh legend still believes he has the remedy to finally get one over on his great rival, but can only reveal it in the ring.
In an exclusive interview with SunSport, Golovkin says: “Of course there is a secret.
“But it’s not the kind of secret you talk about, that’s the secret you demonstrate.

“The right publicity should be done, the organisers should make it happen and I’m sure Canelo has secrets against me, I have secrets against him.
“We all have keys to the victory and the only way to see if those keys fit the lock is to have this fight, to make it happen.”
Following 24 epic rounds between them, in which Golovkin, 39, was left empty handed, fans clamoured for a trilogy decider.
But instead, Canelo, 31, would settle up in weight, even winning the WBO light-heavyweight title, and more recently all the marbles at super-middle.
Whereas GGG has remained at the 160lb limit as IBF champ and faces Japan’s Ryota Murata, 35 on December 29 in Saitama, unifying the WBA belt.
Promoter Eddie Hearn still holds out hope for a third fight between Golovkin and Canelo, believing it is the most lucrative to be made for both.
Triple-G, one of the most feared puncher’s in boxing history, is well aware of the financial reward on offer.
The demand to see this fight is probably the biggest among all potential fights that might be available. Gennady Golovkin on Canelo Alvarez trilogy
But he calls for the bitter trilogy fight to be brokered correctly, ensuring the debate between the superstar boxers can be settled once and for all.
Golovkin explains: “This fight should be publicised in the right way, it should bring a lot of interest for everyone.
“Because, let’s be honest, it’s one of the – if not the most – sought after fight even though it will be our third fight.
“The demand to see this fight is probably the biggest among all potential fights that might be available.
“If he fights this guy, fights someone else and in the middle we get together, that will not be the right approach.
“But if the fight is promoted the right way, then of course there will be an interest in organising that.”

Tommy Fury claims Logan Paul begged him not to square up to brother Jake in ring after YouTuber beat Woodley

TOMMY Fury has revealed that Logan Paul prevented him from squaring up to his brother Jake in the ring following his victory against Tyron Woodley.Jake Paul, 24, had just defeated former UFC Welterweight Champion Woodley by split decision in August when Fury tried to get into the ring to confront him.

And Fury claims that he was ready to have it out with Paul there and then, but Jake’s older brother Logan prevented it from escalating any further.
Fury explained at the time: “His whole team landed. Jake Paul is squaring up to me, but then he sees me at ringside, I’m leaning over the ropes waiting to get in there – here’s Logan [shakes his head] ‘No, no, not right now.’”
Speaking at the post-show press conference, Fury said: “Let’s be honest, if he really wanted to fight me, I’d have been in that ring at the end of the fight, through the ropes, let’s go. There’s no return.
“But he didn’t want that. And the reason he didn’t want that is because if I was getting in there, he wouldn’t be able to go back on it. That’s why I wasn’t in the ring tonight.”
He then added: “They ain’t fighters.”
The pair then reportedly had a fiery confrontation backstage, which took place in the corridors of the venue where Fury claims he was also ready to have it out.

“I mean I haven’t watched it back but I was ready to throw hands there and then. This man is all in front of the cameras but he doesn’t understand that me and my team will go – now.
“We don’t care about how many of you there are, we’ll get stuck in. So he can count his blessings in the hallway really.
“Forty of his security team broke it up because the man can’t fight, the man can’t fight at all. Imagine him in a street fight? Please, he wouldn’t last three seconds.
“If he didn’t have his security team there with him, he wouldn’t have even… he would have walked straight past me.
“Jake Paul hasn’t got nothing inside him and I see that in that corridor right then.
“There was a moment in that corridor right then when everything was going off between his security, my team and his team and it was just me and him, and I looked dead into his soul.
“And when them cameras are not around, he doesn’t want to know.”
Fury had been fighting on Paul and Woodley’s undercard, and beat The Problem Child’s sparring partner Anthony ‘Pretty Boy’ Taylor by unanimous decision.

The fight was his seventh professional bout, which the undefeated 22-year-old has won an impressive four of by knockout.
Fury and Paul will finally come to blows in Tampa, Florida on 18 December and the two undefeated fighters have been trading brutal insults throughout the build up.
Fury’s older brother, WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, 33, will be ringside to cheer him on, having trained Tommy in advance of his biggest fight to date.
And Jake’s older brother Logan will also be in attendance to support his brother, having prevented the two fighters from getting at each other months ago.

And he has aimed a vile dig at Paul’s girlfriend Rose in the build-up the eight-round bout.
Fury, who this month took two women on a wild eight-hour booze bender told iFL TV: “He better keep his girlfriend on a leash because you know when big T’s in town,” as he flexed his biceps.
“F****** they’re not safe! Lock up your women and hide your men because we’re coming to Florida. Well I am anyway.”
Tyson is crossing the Atlantic one again after sensationally knocking out Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas last month.
He then headed straight out to a Sin City nightclub and was seen having the time of his life as he hosted a wild after-party.
And The Gypsy King is eyeing another fun-filled trip to the States when half-brother Tommy takes on Paul a week before Christmas.
Tyson’s recent outburst is not the first time the Fury’s have aimed a dig at Paul’s partner Rose.
In Wednesday’s press conference Tommy was left with his head in his hands after dad John made a vile sexual remark.

Paul and Rose went official with their relationship in early 2020 with an Instagram post.
It came after the couple met on the set of his music video for These Days.
The 26-year-old Instagram model is often seen attending his boxing fights and is best known for being the ‘World Series Flasher’.

Mike Tyson accepts Malawi government’s invite to become country’s official cannabis ambassador

MIKE TYSON has accepted an invitation to become Malawi’s official cannabis ambassador. The former world heavyweight champion, 55, has been selling cannabis products since 2016 through his Tyson Holistic label.

But now he is set to become the face of the drug in Malawi after agreeing to the offer from Agriculture Minister Lobin Low.
Low said: “Malawi may not go it alone as the industry is complex [and requires] collaboration.
“I would therefore like to appoint you, Mr Mike Tyson, as Malawi’s Cannabis Branch ambassador.”
The deal is being facilitated by the United States Cannabis Association and the head of the Malawi branch, Wezi Ngalamila, confirmed to the BBC that Tyson had accepted the proposal.
Malawi are hoping the move will “rope in some investors and even potential buyers”.
It was announced recently that Tyson was launching a new company entitled Tyson 2.0.

Malawi have received a backlash in the wake of their partnership with TysonCredit: Instagram
The new venture is said to be “a step up from Iron Mike’s first cannabis brand, offering a wider array of products including everything from his personal favourite, flower, to concentrates, edibles, beverages, and pre-rolls”.
Last year Malawi, who grow a well-known strand of cannabis called Malawi gold, legalised the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes but it remains illegal recreationally.
But the country has received criticism from the Centre for Public Accountability – a Malawian civil society group – for bringing Tyson in to become their cannabis ambassador.
This is because he was convicted of rape in Indiana in 1992 before being released just three years later.
Kondwani Munthali, the acting director of the Centre for Public Accountability, said: “The CPA is failing to comprehend why Malawi would want to have a convicted rapist as its brand ambassador, more especially, at this time, when efforts to curb violence against women are part of the government agenda.”
Tyson, 54, is believed to earn around £500,000-per-month through his cannabis business that offers premium marijuana strains, edibles and extracts.
‘Iron Mike’ is also building a 418-acre weed-themed holiday resort he hopes will be home to a music festival that can rival Coachella, as well as the world’s longest lazy river.
And aside from a luxury hotel and the lure of ‘glamping’ tents, there will be a Tyson University on site that will aim to teach cannabis cultivation tips to wannabe farmers.

The ex-boxer confirmed to SunSport last month that he wants to see cannabis legalised in the UK.
He said: “Well I will tell you, once it is legalised in the UK, you wouldn’t have to worry about all these prescriptions drugs driving everybody nutty and committing suicide and all that stuff. That will stop immediately.
“Definitely half of it will be knocked out once the people from Great Britain get a chance to participate in what we are doing right now; the wonder medicine.” More

Jake Paul could set up ‘biggest women’s fight in history’ as Amanda Serrano vs Katie Taylor bout takes step closer

JAKE PAUL wants to help make the “biggest fight in women’s boxing history” between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.Seven-weight world champion Serrano, 33, fought on the same bill as Paul when the YouTuber made his debut against AnEsOnGib in January 2020.

And the Puerto Rican superstar was then on the undercard of Paul’s headline bout with Tyron Woodley back in August.
Following that event, which saw both fighters pick up victories, Serrano signed with Paul’s new Most Valuable Promotions.
And they are now hoping to make a super-fight with undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor.
The 35-year-old Olympic gold medallist, who has won all 19 of her professional fights, looked set to face Serrano in May of last year before coronavirus restrictions scuppered the financial structure of the deal.
Since then they have been unable to make the fight, but Taylor’s promoter Hearn now believes Paul is keen to be a part of history by helping Serrano secure the huge clash.
Both women are fighting at the end of 2021 and, providing they come through unscathed, a huge mega-fight looks to be on the cards.

Speaking to The Mirror, Hearn said: “We’ve been speaking with Most Valuable Promotions and we want to do it here in New York.
“Katie and Serrano fight in December, so I’m looking for the end of April for that fight, or something like that.
“Jake is still the mind behind the operation. I think Jake has taken a liking of respect to Amanda Serrano, he’s given her a great platform and pushed her profile considerably.
“And he wants to be the guy that makes the biggest fight of all time in women’s boxing.
“It’s partly because he likes Amanda, and partly as an ego trip where he can turn around and get a huge payday for Amanda, give her the biggest fight of all time and say ‘I did that’.”
Last month, Paul tweeted that the fight between Serrano and Taylor was “on its way to being completed”.

Serrano, who has won 41 of her 43 fights and not been beaten since 2012, takes on Miriam Gutierrez on December 18 – someone Taylor beat by unanimous decision last year.
That fight will take place in Florida on the undercard of Paul’s grudge match with Tommy Fury.
Seven days earlier, Taylor will defend her four lightweight belts in Liverpool when she takes on Kazakh fighter Firuza Sharipova. More

John Fury leaves Tyson with head in hands after vile outburst at Jake Paul ahead of his fight against Tommy

JOHN FURY stunned sons Tommy and Tyson with a vile X-rated rant aimed at Jake Paul during a pre-fight press conference on Wednesday. The Fury family were in the BT Sport studio for the presser, while Jake joined on Zoom from the US.
John got up from his seat to confront Paul at one point during the press conference
Tommy was the first to be left with his head in his hands
And Tyson followed suit shortly after as John lost it in a heated exchange with Paul
But the ocean separating the two camps did not stop Tommy’s dad John from engaging in a horrible exchange with the YouTube star.
Responding to Paul after he interrupted proceedings, John said: “Shut up schoolboy and speak when you’re spoke to.
“Shut up, you’re with the big dogs now puppy where you get bit.”
At one point John got up out of his seat and looked as if he was going to throw a punch at the screen Jake was being broadcast on.
Then when Paul referred to him as a “single old man”, Tommy’s dad lost his head.
John added: “You can thank your lucky stars I’m banned from your country cos I’d get you and slap you you bum.”

Paul then told John to “suck my d**k”, to which he replied: “Suck your d**k? You haven’t got a d**k to suck…you’ve got a g**h not a d**k.”
The comment left heavyweight champ Tyson in pieces as he covered his face with his hand.
John’s shocking remarks came after he also referred to Paul’s girlfriend Julia Rose as a “dog”.
He said: “You know Tommy knocks you out, don’t you? He’s going to bend your girlfriend over and do her like a dog. I’m telling you straight what you’re getting.”
Jake and Tommy will meet in the ring on December 18 in Florida as they prepare to put their unbeaten records on the line.

Anthony Joshua believes Deontay Wilder was destined to fail with jab-heavy approach in Tyson Fury trilogy

ANTHONY JOSHUA reckons Deontay Wilder was destined to fail with his jab-heavy approach for his trilogy fight with Tyson Fury. The Bronze Bomber stunned boxing fans across the world by repeatedly jabbing Fury to the body in their epic series decider last month.

But fatigue eventually scuppered the American’s more measured approach to try and KO the Gypsy King.
Joshua was among those surprised to see Wilder repeatedly make use of the jab, which he believes modern heavyweights struggle to utilise for 12 straight rounds.
During a JD Sports round table, he said: “Not in this day and age [can heavyweights jab for 12 rounds] because heavyweights are different.
“I met the guy who makes gloves the other day, and he said that they never used to have to make special gloves.
“But now heavyweights are 17 to 19 stone and six-foot ten.

“And before, fighters could jab like that for 12 rounds and get away with it.
“They’d get a bit tired, but they were conditioned because they were lighter.
“But now, when you’ve got big guys [who are] six-foot-seven, they get tired.”
Joshua, 32, was impressed by Wilder’s early attempts to switch up his game plan.
But he believes the former WBC heavyweight champion lacked the mental strength to see the job through.
AJ said: “He tried, but to get that power and that ferociousness, you have to have it up here [points to his head].
“Before you have it just here [clenches fists] at that level, you have to have it here [points to his head] as well.”

An irate John was ‘bothered’ by Paul’s refusal to agree to VADA testingCredit: Getty
Negotiations over the bout took longer than expected, with an irate John claiming an initial sticking point was Paul’s refusal to sign up for stringent testing by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association.
During a pre-fight interview with Rob Moore, John said: “There was all kinds of stuff in the contracts.
“There was all kinds of it, like, ‘You’ve got to change your name for a year. You’ve got to do this. You’ve got to do that.’
“He’s got to change his name to ‘Tommy Fumbles’ for a year. All rubbish on that.
“I could go into it more and more but I don’t want to bore people with politics. Do you know what I’m saying?…
“And like everything else, he wouldn’t sign up for the VADA testing either.”

Paul’s alleged refusal to commit to stringent VADA testing irked dotting dad John, although he insists he’s no longer ‘bothered’ by the decision.
He continued: “That bothered me a little bit because I want that in the contract. But he wouldn’t do that.
“But I’m not even bothered about that because what they’re going to do, they’re going to do anyway.
“So yeah, we just want the fight because we know we can win it.
“The people that think Tommy is getting paid to lose, they’re joking.”
Paul, 24, was drug tested after his split decision victory over Tyron Woodley in August.

And the social media star’s post-fight sample came back negative for any performance-enhancing drugs.
Paul was accused of using PEDS during the build-up to his narrow victory over Woodley, a notion that made him laugh.
He said: “Yeah so I woke up a couple of mornings ago and my manager sent me that headline and said, ‘Hey hope you see this’.
“So I first swiped up on my phone and typed in ‘what are PEDs’.
“This is honestly hilarious, how many excuses are they gonna make?
“People were saying ‘Ben Askren is going to beat Jake Paul’, ‘Nate Robinson is the betting favourite he is just a YouTuber’.

“They just know now that I am coming for their five-time UFC champion, I am gonna knock him out and they are trying to make up any excuse they possibly can.
“It’s a real professional fight with commissions and drug testing, so how are these people coming up with that?
“I am looking at it as a compliment as I am making light work of these people, and they are running out of excuses.”
