Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua given huge boost as promoter Bob Arum reveals Gypsy King will fight THREE times in 2022

TYSON FURY is being primed to fight three times next year in a massive boost to his British rivals. The Gypsy King has fought only twice in the last two years, both wins against Deontay Wilder.

Most recently, he knocked Wilder, 36, out in round 11 in October to dramatically close out their trilogy series in style.
And his US promoter Bob Arum wants Fury to return in no later than four months’ time to kickstart a busy 12-month period.
Arum told talkSPORT: “What I would like to see, and this is what he would like to see, getting in the ring at the end of February or March and doing at least three fights in 2022.
“Hopefully that is how it will all roll out, Fury is ready to fight anybody.
“I really believe that he is the pre-eminent heavyweight in the world, there is nobody out there that he would be reluctant to fight.”
Fury, 33, admitted he is only interested in fighting Anthony Joshua, 32, or Oleksandr Usyk, 34.

But the heavyweight pair are already lined up to rematch by April following Usyk’s upset over AJ in September.
The winner will then set their sights on WBC champion Fury and finally unifying the division once and for all.
For now though, the Gypsy King will need to look elsewhere and Dillian Whyte, 33, has emerged as the frontrunner to face him.
Arum said: “I think Dillian Whyte should be the next fight for Tyson Fury. We’ve got to push ahead and get a date and an opponent for Fury.
“And it seems to me that it is logical that it should be Dillian Whyte.”
Whyte is the WBC ‘interim’ champ and in turn the mandatory challenger for Fury’s belt.
But his legal case launched against the WBC has actually prevented him from being ordered to fight for the title.
It could leave Fury negotiating a defence against Whyte on a voluntary basis instead, opposed to being mandated.

But he eventually went on to say his wife is a bit of a boxing expert, who typically likes to comment on fights they watch together – offering advice on what they should be doingCredit: YOUTUBE: SECONDSOUT

Khan has been married to Makhdoom for eight years so she knows a thing or two about the sport.
But Khan insists she keeps her expert knowledge ‘quiet’.
He said: “Is that the wife doing an interview on Sky?
“What’s going on there? I’m like ‘wait a minute’…. she’s really good at what she does but (pulls funny face).”
The interviewer then tried to press Khan for an answer about him being with Terrence Crawford’s camp, but the Brit remained distracted.
“I’m a bit shocked. I’m seeing the wife on Sky talking boxing.

“She does know boxing, a lot of people don’t give her credit. She sometimes tells me what to do in boxing.
“Say we’re watching a fight together, ‘ah, he should be throwing the jab a little bit more. Why is he not going for the body? He needs to hit with the overhand left, because his guard’s too low. He needs to get his hands up.’
“So she knows a bit about boxing which I’m quite surprised by because she normal keeps it quiet.”
The interviewer then joked: “She’ll be getting punditry work before you.”
Khan responded: “I know yeah, who knows.”
    WHAT SHE SAID
Makhdoom branded Brook ‘boring’ in the very interview Khan was distracted by.
Commenting on Khan and Brook squaring up in their first public meet since the fight was announced, she said: “I was so impressed.
“Amir looked really confident, really chilled.
“And some of the things he came out with were shocking.

“So it was funny, it went well, it made everyone laugh.
    “Kell was a bit… Kell needs to… he was a bit… boring.”
And when asked what shocked her the most about her husband’s comments, the 30-year-old TV star replied: “I think just the ‘shut up’. The plain old shut up.
“Its funny because Kell mentioned Amir getting knocked out and Amir said you got punched with a jab and you couldn’t get up.
    “It was quite funny.
“But you know what, good luck to both fighters.
“It’s a hard sport and I wish them the best of luck.”

Gervonta Davis’ opponent Isaac Cruz vows to gain revenge for mentor Manny Pacquiao by beating Floyd Mayweather’s protege

ISAAC CRUZ has vowed to gain revenge for his mentor Manny Pacquiao, by beating Floyd Mayweather’s protege Gervonta Davis. Cruz steps in on five weeks notice over the weekend to challenge for Davis’ secondary WBA ‘Regular’ title.

It comes six years after his promoter Pacquiao was bitterly beaten by Mayweather over 12 rounds in the most lucrative fight of all time.
The Filipino icon tirelessly pursued a rematch with his American long-time rival, but was constantly knocked back.
Now, with the boxing legends both retired, they are nurturing the next generation of rising stars.
And Cruz has set his sights on inflicting payback for PacMan by handing Davis a shock first career defeat.
He told SunSport: “You can say it’s a war of the prodigies, between the two pupils.
“My goal will be to leave Manny Pacquiao Promotions on top and make Manny proud of the fact Manny Pacquiao was able to prevail against Mayweather Promotions in the end.”

Davis, 27, signed for Mayweather, 44, in 2015, just two years after making his professional debut.
Since then, he has won belts in three divisions, winning 24 of his 25 unbeaten fights by knockout, owning a 96 per cent stoppage ratio.
He is heralded as one of the most exciting fighters in the world and unsurprisingly compared to his mentor, despite their differing styles.
Mexican Cruz, 23, on the other hand is a wildcard opponent, chosen to replace Rolando Romero, 26, who was pulled from the event amid sexual assault allegations.
The lightweight contender is 22–1–1 and nicknamed ‘The Pitbull’ due to his relentless and tenacious fighting style.
But he is a soft spoken outsider who started boxing at the age of seven, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.
And, like Pacquiao, Cruz turned pro at just 16-year’s-old to fight his way to a better life.

PacMan in 2001 became an overnight sensation when he travelled to Las Vegas as an unknown former flyweight champ.
But after he knocked out South African Lehlohonolo Ledwaba on short notice, everyone knew the name Manny Pacquiao.
In a repeat scenario, having taken the opportunity of a lifetime to fight Davis, sub Cruz is hoping to put in place the lessons he has learned from Pacquiao.
He said: “The main thing I took away from being under Manny Pacquiao’s wing, is the fact that work ethic is everything.
“You always have to believe in yourself and go after your dreams, dreams that you had as a kid and the dreams that you have right now.
“With work ethic and desire, and the will to win, everything is possible.” More

Artist Anthony Padgett, who is also from Morecambe, says it captures the boxer’s ‘essence’.
Padgett said: “The sculpture was inspired by Tyson Fury. It depicts the essence of the punch, the key moment in boxing.
“It is great to have a sculpture depicting Tyson’s world achievement in Morecambe.
“Also to have a contemporary artwork shows Morecambe is progressive in its views of art.”
Some don’t agree with Padgett, with one blasting the sculpture as stupid’.

“You’ve worked so hard and deserve a more fitting tribute. (Needs to in bronze/solid and actually show a boxer!)”
Others saw the funny side to the bizarre sculpture.
Simon Gooch joked: “I heard a Tyson Fury sculpture was in the pipeline. I didn’t think it was literally.”
Fury isn’t the only high profile sports star to have a sculpture made after him receive criticism.

Some footy fans compared the sculpture to Bowser from the Super Mario Brothers film.

Anthony Yarde warns it’s no more Mr Nice Guy as he eyes KO in Lyndon Arthur rematch and says ‘they know what’s coming’

ANTHONY YARDE warned there will be no more Mr Nice Guy as he eyes KO revenge in his rematch with Lyndon Arthur.  The British light-heavyweight was left gobsmacked in defeat one year ago after he traded jabs with rival Arthur for 12 rounds behind-closed-doors.

And apart from a dramatic late onslaught in the final three minutes, which put Yarde a punch or two away from winning, his signature pressure and power was nowhere to be seen.
But this time around, in a second chance Copper Box rematch on Saturday, the Beast from The East promised to leave the boxing niceties behind once the first bell sounds.
Yarde, 30, told SunSport: “When me and him spoke, we gave respect to each other in terms of our boxing IQ and the things we were doing.
“But that’s not fan-friendly, it’s boring. It was literally a tagging match, like fencing. That’s now what it’s going to be this fight.
“People that know how I get it crackin, know how I fight, I’m just going to be myself in this fight.”
Arthur, 29, retained his Commonwealth title and unbeaten record 12 months ago inside the empty Church of England HQ using just his jab.

And Yarde, with 20 knockouts in his 23 wins, in two of the judges eyes failed in his attempt to outbox Arthur as he mirrored the box and move tactics.
But he vowed to this time leave no debate, following their disputed split-decision, and get back to what he does best.
Yarde said: “Him and his trainer Pat Barrat, they know what’s coming.
“They know what’s coming and if they think it’s going to be reckless, then more fool them.
“They know me, they respect me enough to know I’m a very good fighter and there’s respect both ways.
“But I’m going to go out there and get the job done.”
Arthur would have expected a challenge for a version of the 175lb world title by now, having been ranked No1 in the WBO.
But a rematch clause has left him needing to hand Yarde another defeat, which would be the Londoner’s third ever.

The first came in August 2019, when Sergey Kovalev, 39, knocked Yarde out in round 11 in the Russian’s home of Chelyabinsk.
It means Yarde would have again looked back and studied what went wrong, but found no problem re-living the loss to Arthur.
And with the chapter of their rivalry not yet over, the former world title challenger aims to emphatically close it on his way to stardom.
He said: “It was one of them fights, it could’ve gone either way and mixed opinions.
“Not only that, I knew I wasn’t myself that night, even when I watched it back.
“So I know what I’m capable of, and I just see it as, it’s boxing, it happens. It’s not where careers are finished.
“I’ve accomplished a lot so far and my career is about to sky-rocket.”

But promoter Eddie Hearn insists the former unified heavyweight champion is still hellbent on settling the score with the slick southpaw.
The Matchroom Boxing chief said: “I don’t think that’s a consideration.
“I think at some point if an offer was presented to someone that would be a situation where it would be difficult to not discuss Joshua stepping aside.
“At the moment, the only focus is on the rematch. Anthony Joshua wants to fight Oleksandr Usyk.
Until that is presented to him, and it hasn’t been presented to him in terms of stepping aside, that’s all the focus is.”

Joshua suffered a lopsided points defeat to the undefeated Ukrainian in their September showdown at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
And the defeat – which scuppered a multi-million-pound Battle of Britain with Fury – still weighs heavy on his mind.
He told iFL TV: “A lot of times I wake up in the morning and the fight and fighting is on my mind. After the fight, you sleep on it.
“You sleep on it after the fight and then what happens is you wake up on it and I’m waking up on it and it’s the right thing because you’ve got to use it as fuel for the day.
“I think about it a lot and not just on a physical thing but up here as well. I think about it a lot.”
“That one made me think a lot and I could go on but I just care, I actually care.
    “I don’t think, ‘Eh, it’s a loss’. I actually deeply care.”

Tyson Fury’s coach shares never-before-seen pic of boxer at 28st before incredible body transformation to fight Wilder

TYSON FURY’S coach has revealed a remarkable picture of the WBC heavyweight champion when he was 28 STONE.The Gypsy King dethroned Wladimir Klitschko with a superb boxing display in 2015, but then fell into a depression where he became addicted to alcohol and drugs.

He piled on the weight and by the time he plotted his return at the end of 2017 he had around 10 stone to lose.
But within six months Fury was back in the ring and after just two warm-up fights he agreed to face knockout artist Deontay Wilder in December 2018.
The Brit would go on to draw their first fight in Los Angeles in a bout many felt he won.
But the fight will be remembered for Fury somehow climbing off the canvas in the final round.
And Kristian Blacklock, a strength and conditioning coach that has overseen the heavyweight’s return, feels Fury’s ability to lose the weight and return to the top is his greatest achievement.
Alongside three pictures of Fury’s remarkable weight loss, he said on Instagram: “Photo 1: Nov 17. Photo 2 & 3: Nov 18. Weigh in for Wilder 1 and the amazing weight loss and return to fitness as a team we achieved!

“Big shout also to @bendavison_ [Fury’s former boxing coach] don’t think any of us will forget the journey mate!
“Since the 1st fight @gypsyking101 has gone from strength to strength but I still think this was his biggest achievement overcoming everything in his path to get back to big time boxing within 12 months……… unbelievable.”
Despite not having his hand raised as the winner against Wilder in their first fight, he would taste victory 14 months later when he stopped the American inside seven rounds.
Then following a long legal case the pair went to war again in a trilogy fight in October.
And it was Fury who once again prevailed, climbing off the deck once more to knock Wilder out cold in the 11th round of an all-time classic.
Yet despite his astonishing return to the ring, Fury continues to dismiss modern sport science.
