Devin Haney then verbally agreed a unification bout with George Kambosos
Haney had a huge speed and skill advantage and was out-jabbing his opponent throughout the early stages.
And despite Diaz refusing to let the champ cruise to victory, he was continually caught with more conviction by his foe on every occasion.
Diaz knew he had to go for broke in the final round but Haney avoided his onslaught to claim a comprehensive 116-112, 117-111, 117-111 victory via the judges scorecards.
Kambosos, who shocked Teofimo Lopez last week to become the division’s No.1, was watching the action from ringside.
And straight away afterwards they verbally agreed to get it on in the New Year as they came face-to-face on DAZN.
Haney told him: “We have to go in there and settle it.”

He captioned the photos by adding: “Just take this opportunity to wish my beautiful wife Paris Fury a happy birthday 🎂 & many happy returns.
“I love you 😍 soooo muchhhhh. Some happy pics going back what seems a lifetime ago, we have had so many experiences in our young lives.
“Here’s to another great year together.”

But Tyson and Paris have remained strong for more than a decade and remain extremely close as a couple.
Paris met Fury when she was just 15 at a mutual friend’s wedding.
However, it wasn’t until a year later, when their paths crossed again on a night out in Doncaster for her 16th birthday, that they began dating.
Paris explained: “He was my first boyfriend as I was not allowed a boyfriend until the age of 16. He is the only boyfriend I have had.”
Earlier this week, the heavyweight champ took some time out from training brother Tommy for his fight with Jake Paul by heading out for a meal with Paris as her birthday approached.
Paris shared a snap of their dinner date with her 819,000 Instagram followers on Wednesday night.
The snap’s accompanying caption read: “Early birthday celebration for me. Wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”

It looked as if he was set to face No1 challenger Dillian Whyte as he prepared for the mandatory to be called by the WBC.

Anthony Yarde beats Lyndon Arthur with vicious fourth-round KO in rematch fight to settle light-heavyweight grudge

ANTHONY YARDE got violent rematch revenge over Lyndon Arthur to settle their light-heavyweight grudge.Almost exactly one year on from 30-year-old Arthur’s shock points win over the Hackney ace, also 30, Yarde got payback with a four-round demolition job.

Joe Smith Jr defends his WBO light-heavyweight title against Brit Callum Johnson on January 15 and Yarde’s ruthless win means he will face the winner of that US clash.
Arthur was booed by Yarde’s army on his way to the Copper Box ring but once his travelling Manchester crowd heard the heckling they drowned it out with cheers for the champion.
Arthur was flanked by best friend and IBF flyweight king Sunny Edwards who had a brilliant impact at the first behind-closed-doors clash by loudly advising his mate from the Church House balcony and slamming Yarde’s skills.
Yarde flew into action with a whipped left hook aimed at Arthur’s head and then a right into his ribs.
And before the exciting opener ended Yarde appeared to buzz his opponent with a three-punch combination that seemed to stun Arthur who was looking to jab and hold early on.
In the second Yarde landed another meaty left hook and Arthur grabbed him and held while he recovered.

There was plenty of grappling and holding as the high-stakes fight threatened to turn into a wrestling match.
Referee Bob Williams should have been more eager to stop the scrappy manhandling but he struggled to get in between the two rutting stags.
Arthur scored with a couple of straight shots outside of the clinch but nothing that hurt his nemesis.
Early in the third Yarde landed another thudding left hook that wobbled Arthur but he jabbed his way back into the stanza.
Right on the bell there was a brilliant exchange as both brave men traded powerful shots and shrugged them off.
Right on the ding, they grinned and nodded at each other to mark the end of a thrilling round.
Then as soon as the fourth started Yarde landed a brilliant right to the body that Arthur would never recover from.
The wounded animal stayed on his feet but was battered up against the ropes until he finally collapsed and almost fell out of the ring before he was counted out.

    ARTHUR vs YARDE
Both men have made their walks and are now in the ring.
Will Yarde start quicker and let his hands go like promised? Or will Arthur’s jab be the difference again?
The first bell, or 13th, is almost upon us…
    UP NEXT
The big one, the main-event, what we’ve all come for.
Anthony Yarde and Lyndon Arthur fight once more in a rematch to settle the score almost a year to the day since their first.
Arthur won that with just his jab and an injured right hand, but Yarde has promised knockout revenge.
    SHEERAZ vs SKEETE
Skeete takes a knee again after a big combination and the fight is over!
Despite Skeete’s heroic efforts, a combination has put him down for a second and final time in the fight.
Both boos and cheers ring around the Copper Box following the dramatic nine rounds.
    SHEERAZ vs SKEETE
Skeete is down again after a massive combination at the end of round eight and just about survives the bell.
Sheeraz had a point off after flooring Skeete and landing punches while he was down.
With Skeete likely ahead, he’s been kept in the fight by his trainer.
    SHEERAZ vs SKEETE
Massive knockdown in round eight for Sheeraz but he then lands a couple of shots while Skeete is on the floor.
If Skeete is unable to continue, Sheeraz faces being DQ’d here.
But Skeete has opted to continue and the fight will go on, but Sheeraz has a point taken off.
    SHEERAZ vs SKEETE
Sheeraz lands a big combination in round seven and as Skeete is trying to slip he hits the deck.
Looked like a clean knockdown but the ref called it a slip but he is on the retreat and under pressure.
Skeete makes it through the round but that was the biggest threat he’s had to overcome in the fight so far, Sheeraz needs to keep the pressure on.
    SHEERAZ vs SKEETE
Through to round six and this fight is really heating up.
Skeete, despite giving away height and size, has managed out outbox the bigger man so far with a good jab and smart defence.
But Sheeraz is the bigger and stronger fighter but needs to step on the gas with Skeete banking rounds. Good fight so far.

    NOAKES vs COOPER
Knockdown scored for Noakes in the ninth round, which could help swing the fight massively in his favour.
The referee then stops the fight with Cooper on his feet as he failed to stop the late onslaught.
Noakes retains his 100 per cent KO ratio in right fights now.
    NOAKES vs COOPER
Half way through the fight and it’s a close affair, with Noakes the aggressor and busier but Cooper holding his own.
Neither man he really broke the deadlock and it’s give and take so far.
Second half of the fight will be telling, who wants it more.

    NOAKES VS COOPER
Time for some lightweight action now as Sam Noakes puts his unbeaten tag on the line.
Shaun Cooper is no mug though and Walsall native will want to impress on the big stage.

    McCANN vs JURADO
ROUND 8 – The final bell sounds and that brings the end to a fairly one-sided fight.
McCann several moments of class during the eight rounds, with rapid combinations and slick defence.
It failed to put a real dent in Juarado but dominated the action nonetheless winning every round on the cards to go 11-0.

    McCANN vs JURADO
ROUND 6 – McCann comfortable with two rounds to go but has a cut above his left eye.
The clash of stances have seen the heads coming together, but the gash should not cause too much concern.
McCann still in the driving seat, landing combinations but not finding a way to break down the resilient Juarado.

    McCANN vs JURADO
ROUND 3 – Confident stuff so far from McCann, boxing and moving.
He’s in complete control and landed some eye-catching left hands, down the middle.
McCann is getting into a bit of a scrap in close but lands his shots and then circles out, showing lovely defence.
    McCANN vs JURADO
ROUND 1 – Big end to the round as McCann lands a counter left hand.
The southpaw brings a massive set of supporters, who are making themselves heard.
Confident start from McCann, using educated pressure and landing the odd uppercut.
    UP NEXT
Popular prospect Dennis McCann faces Juan Jose Jurado.
Bantamweight McCann is unbeaten in ten, with six KOs and is one of the biggest rising stars in the country.
He’ll be looking to make a statement here.
    FOX vs SOKOLOWSKI
The referee scored the fight 79-75 to Sokolowski, who rightfully deserves the victory.
Sokolowski landed some big shots during the eight-round bout and thankfully saw his work rewarded.
Fox showed flashes of slick boxing, slipping, countering and showing quick hands, but his work was too sporadic.
    FOX vs SOKOLOWSKI
Better final round for Fox but he needs a bit of a gift on the cards here to avoid defeat.
He showed good flashes but Sokolowski was far the busier and harder hitter but is the travelling fighter here.
    We await the decision…

Heading into the final round and Fox needs a KO or something special to avoid defeat here.
Sokolowski scored several big shots in the seventh round and is on the way to either being robbed or pulling off a big upset.

Midway through the fight and Fox is looking far from convincing.
He’s landed the occasional counter right hand – most commonly the uppercut – and flicks out his jab well.
But Sokolowski is the aggressor and landing more shots by just walking forward.

    ARTHUR vs YARDE 2
Bantamweight prospect Dennis McCann loves his Haribos.
So after successfully making the 8st 6lb limit, he enjoyed tucking into a pack on the scales.
Can he make his boxing record look sweeter with an 11th career win when he faces Juan Jose Jurado?

    ARTHUR vs YARDE 2
Tonight Lyndon Arthur and Anthony Yarde rematch… almost a year to the day since they first shared the ring.
Arthur ran out the winner on split-decision over 12 rounds in a tight and disputed win on the cards.
Yarde has promised revenge, but Arthur warned of a repeat.

    ARTHUR vs YARDE 2
Charles Frankham moves to 4-0 after stopping Romanian Constantin Radoi in round four.
A left hook landed flush on Radoi and after stumbling back, the referee waved off the contest.
It is the second stoppage on Frankham’s record.

Anthony Joshua given Christmas deadline to step aside and give Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk undisputed decider showdown

ANTHONY JOSHUA has got until Christmas to decide if he is going to give Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk their undisputed decider. The Brit was outpointed by Ukrainian Usyk in September — a month before Fury settled his Deontay Wilder trilogy with a knockout.

AJ, 32, insisted he wanted instant revenge and activated a rematch clause for a shot at reclaiming his WBA, IBF and WBO titles from Usyk, 34.
But he has since admitted he is open to accepting step-aside money and a guaranteed shot at the winner of Fury vs Usyk.
Fury’s promoter Frank Warren is happy to hear Joshua has a price — but warned him he needs to decide soon, ideally before the end of next week.
He said: “Everybody wants to see the undisputed fight between Tyson and Usyk.
“That’s between two undefeated fighters with all four of the belts.
“Tyson Fury — the bigger man — against the guy who took Anthony Joshua to school. That is the massive fight.

“The only thing that stands in the way of that is AJ. He has done an interview where he has stated, ‘I am a businessman’, and when someone says that, the question is ‘how much?’. One thing for sure is that we need to decide before Christmas, ideally within the next seven or eight days.
“If that doesn’t happen then we will make a UK fight for Tyson in March and that could be Dillian Whyte, Joe Joyce or anyone else that Tyson decides upon.”
Recently 2012 Olympic golden boy Joshua claimed his team would never even dare to bring step-aside offers to his attention because they know how focused he is on regaining his belts and shutting up his critics.
But in the same interview he made it clear he would be ready to let his two biggest rivals meet if the deal is worth his while.
Warren reckons that has opened the boardroom door to a shock deal getting done.
He added: “I watched the interview and in one part he is talking about how important his sporting legacy is but in the next breath he is saying he is a businessman.
“With businessmen it is always about money.
“If he takes the deal then he doesn’t have to face Usyk again, straight away, in a fight I think Usyk is the favourite.
“He can instead go into an undisputed fight with the winner.”

But it has just emerged that The Takeover was unknowingly suffering from pneumomediastinum, which is a condition that has air present in the space between the chest and the lungs.
The American bruiser has been diagnosed only recently after his defeat to Ferocious and Dr Linda Dahl admitted he could have lost his life in the ring.
Dr Dahl told ESPN: “He could have died, for sure.”
Kambosos won via split decision on judges scores of 115-111, 113-114 and 115-112 in a frantic fight that saw both men hit the canvas.
But the Australian boxing star, who has Greek heritage from Sparta, extended his undefeated streak to a whopping 20 fights, half of which were won by knockout.
Lopez, on the other hand, saw his own unbeaten record coming to an end as he suffered his first defeat in 17 fights.

The 24-year-old was left stunned by the result as he claimed he won the fight, which led to his own fans booing his comment.
Lopez said: “He’s [Kambosos] a hell of a fighter, but I won tonight, everybody knows that.
“The referee raised my hand. I won tonight, I don’t care what anybody says. I want to thank everybody that came out tonight, look, I ain’t no sore loser, I take my wins like I take my losses.
“At the end of the day I’m a true champion, I did what I had to do, and I went out there and did my best.
“I don’t care what anybody says, I am as real as they come, and this is the takeover man, we don’t stop, we keep coming.”
Lopez added: “At the end of the night, I scored it 11-2 -10-2.”
