Tyson Fury threatens to sue BBC if he is nominated for Sports Personality of the Year after epic Wilder win

TYSON FURY has threatened legal action against the BBC if he is nominated for Sports Personality of the Year. Fury is fourth favourite for the award and expected to be shortlisted when it is announced next week.

But it is the second year in a row that he has requested to be omitted from the competition and is ready to take legal action against the BBC.
Fury, 33, told The Telegraph: “It means nothing to me and I don’t need it or want it.
“In fact, they will hear from my solicitors if they do put me on the list. Give it to someone who needs it. I don’t.
“And, anyway, we know who the sports personality of the year is anyway – it’s me.
“I am the sports personality. Who does what I do, goes through a war in Las Vegas, entertains the fans, and then sings to the audience?”
Lewis Hamilton was last year’s SPOTY winner after becoming a seven-time Formula One champion.

That was despite Fury’s seventh-round stoppage win over Deontay Wilder, 36, in their rematch.
But this October the heavyweight rivals put on a thriller in their trilogy bout.
Fury got up from the floor twice, scored three knockdowns of his own and closed the show in round 11.
Rising tennis star Emma Raducanu is favourite for this year’s SPOTY with Tom Daley, Adam Peaty and Hamilton also in the running.
The BBC last year declined Fury’s request to be taken out of the running and made public their intention to keep him on the list.

His relationship with SPOTY took a hit in 2015, when a petition demanding his removal drew 100,000 signatures after sexist and homophobic remarks.
Fury still attended the ceremony that year, having stunned Wladimir Klitschko to win the WBA, IBF and WBO titles.
And in 2018, he was omitted from the list despite his epic draw with Wilder in only his third comeback fight after almost three years out of the ring.
Fury said: “They wouldn’t give it to me and give me credit if I won 50 world title belts from the people who put it on, and I don’t care.
“I should have won it three times already. I’ve got my wife and my kids. That’s all the awards I need. I’ll sue [the BBC] if they put me on.” More

TOMMY FURY is out of his showdown with Jake Paul – and The Problem Child may have known about his rival’s withdrawal THREE DAYS ago.TNT has been forced out of his grudge match with the YouTuber-turned-boxer with an injury, with SunSport understanding an official announcement will be made later today.

Paul appeared to have prior knowledge of Fury’s withdrawal judging from his last tweet
Paul has yet to comment on Fury’s withdrawal, although he did post a tweet a few days ago possibly hinting that he knew about it.
On Friday, Paul tweeted a video of Tyson Fury claiming his younger brother could beat the YouTuber on his ‘worst night ever’.
His accompanying caption read:” I smell cap.”
The term ‘cap’ is American slang for lies or bulls**t.
In the clip, Tyson said: “Tommy can have his worst night ever and still beat Jake Paul.
“He could probably turn up with broken ribs, a broken left hand, two left feet, his close on back to front and with the flu and still beat Jake Paul.

“That’s how confident I am that he can beat Jake Paul.”
Fury’s withdrawal from the bout will have enraged Paul, who had a sneaking suspicion Fury would pull out of their showdown.
During an expletive-laden press conference last month, a fired-up Paul said: “Make sure you show up. Just make sure you show up.”
Both men were confident of emerging victorious from the battle of social media celebs, with Fury predicting a short night at the office.
He said: “After our last fights on the same card, I rocked up with four people to his after-party.
“I saw him and what did he do? He didn’t [do anything]. He sent a security man over to say: ‘Please leave’.
“When he gets in the ring with me, he will find his level. He’ll be out in the first round.”
Paul, meanwhile, planned to drag his fellow novice into deep waters, saying: “I will TKO him in the later rounds.

“He hasn’t had a fight past four rounds so I think he’ll be gassed.
“I think this will be the first time he’s getting punched in the face by someone who can actually hit and is the same weight as him.
“He’s always fought smaller guys with losing records. So I think he’s going to fade. I know he’s going to fade.”

Floyd Mayweather forgets which Paul brother he fought and says only training he did for $100m exhibition was ‘sit-ups’

FLOYD MAYWEATHER appeared to forget which Paul brother he fought back in June and claimed the only training he did for the exhibition was ‘sit-ups’. The boxing legend made a return to the ring earlier this year for an extraordinary spectacle bout against YouTuber Logan Paul, the older brother to Jake.

Logan Paul, left, next to his brother Jake
Mayweather boasted of making $100million for the eight-rounder and claimed to have done little training for it as he named the wrong Paul brother.
He told reporters: ‘‘If I wanna go pick up some backpack money. If I want to go pick up $10million, $20million, $30 million, 100, I can go to exhibition.
“It’s not even on my record. You know a lot of people talking about ‘Oh, that Jake Paul’.
“Man, listen, it wasn’t a real fight. All I was doing, just every once in a while go to the gym, sit-ups, hit the heavy bag then go.”
Despite Mayweather’s latest claims, the 44-year-old shared training pictures in the build up to the exhibition and revealed he had been sparring.
The American great officially retired in 2017 after beating ex-UFC champion Conor McGregor, 33, in ten rounds.

But he returned a year later for an exhibition with featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa, 23, which he won in a round.
His bout with Paul, 26, was his most bizarre fight of all due to their TWO STONE weight difference and massive skill disparity.
But Mayweather was taken the full distance and without winning by knockout, the fight ended without a winner.
Paul had only boxed twice beforehand, both against online rival KSI.
The first ended in a draw in 2018 before they turned professional a year later with KSI, 28, winning by scrappy split-decision.
But Paul, a former high school wrestler, vastly improved and scored a massive moral victory by taking Mayweather the distance.
Mayweather said: “After the fight I said I give him more credit, I take my hat off to him.
“Because, I said with his background in wrestling – this is what I meant – his background in wrestling was unbelievable.
“Because the whole night all he did was wrestle me, so they said he’s a top level wrestler, and I said, I can tell.”

But it’s been suggested Love Islander Fury is set to withdraw from the grudge match.
And it’s been claimed former UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley will replace TNT.
Although Fury’s withdrawal from the bout has not been confirmed, SunSport understands his participation in the bout is up in the air.
Fury, 22, has been battling the cold throughout his training camp – which was initially due to take place in America.
Promoter Frank Warren recently revealed: “Tommy had a little bit of a cold but hopefully he is going to be okay.
“We are up in Morecambe [on Wednesday] so hopefully we will know more then, but he is up for it and he wants to fight.
“He can’t wait for the fight and I know certainly from Jake’s perspective he can’t wait for the fight.”

The youngest Fury brother was supposed to train for his showdown with the YouTuber in America under the tutelage of Sugarhill Steward and brother Tyson.
But the reality TV star has done the bulk of his camp in Morecambe under the guidance of dad John, who stole the show during an x-rated pre-fight press conference late last month.
If Fury has indeed pulled out of the bout, the news will enrage Paul – wh had a feeling the Brit wouldn’t make it to fight night.
During their foul-mouthed presser, The Problem Child roared at Fury and said: “Make sure you show up.

‘Everybody wants it’ – Anthony Joshua told to step aside and allow Tyson Fury to fight Oleksandr Usyk by Frank Warren

FRANK WARREN claimed ‘everybody wants’ Anthony Joshua to step aside to allow Tyson Fury to fight Oleksandr Usyk. Usyk beat AJ in September to win the unified WBA, IBF and WBO belts but is now contracted to a rematch.

Fury, who retained his WBC title against Deontay Wilder in October, has maintained he wants to fight the Ukrainian next.
But he would need Joshua to agree to being paid to sit on the sidelines, and has already started negotiations to pull it off.
Promoter Warren told iFL TV: “There’s been talks going on for a while now and it’s all got to come to fruition, it’s got to move on now.
“It seems to me there is a will to make this happen and hopefully if we can get everybody to sign an agreement, without announcing it, we can move forward.
“Until it’s signed it don’t mean nothing. There is a will and we all want it, everybody wants this fight between Tyson and Usyk. Everybody.”
Joshua, 32, confusingly admitted he had no intentions of stepping aside for Fury, 33, but would at least consider it if the price is right.

For the Gypsy King, he could be ordered into a mandatory title defence against Dillian Whyte, 33, who is the WBC ‘interim’ champion.
But Whyte’s prior legal case with the WBC, to speed up his much-earned shot at the belt, has actually prevented his fight with Fury from being ordered.
And an undisputed title fight could supersede a mandatory defence but AJ would have to wait for Whyte to then fight the winner of Fury and Usyk.
Joshua has been warned he has until Christmas to make up his mind and decide whether he will rematch Usyk, 34, or not.
Fury’s US promoter Bob Arum has revealed Saudi Arabia has shown an interest in hosting an undisputed showdown with Usyk in March. More

‘He’s in a tough fight’ – Jake Paul getting tips from new world champ George Kambosos Jr ahead of Tommy Fury showdown

GEORGE KAMBOSOS JR spoke with Jake Paul and warned ‘he’s in a tough fight’ against Tommy Fury. Paul faces Fury over eight rounds at a 192lb catchweight bout on December 18 in Florida.

And he recently chatted with newly crowned lightweight champion Kambosos, 28, over FaceTime after the Australian stunned Teofimo Lopez, 24, in New York.
Kambosos told Helen Yee:  “He was so excited, obviously I was excited to chat with him.
“He is a global star, and I gave him a few tips on his fight just believing you know no matter what, because he is in a tough fight as well.
“And a lot of people are saying that he might not be able to win this fight. Like they were saying with me.
“But if you believe in yourself, you can achieve everything.”
In Paul’s first three fights, he beat YouTuber ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 37, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, also 37.

But in August, the American improved to 4-0 with a win over eight rounds against ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, 39.
On the undercard, Fury, 22, beat Paul’s sparring partner Anthony Taylor, 32, to move to 7-0 and set up the mega-fight.
Kambosos added: “I think it’ll be a good fight, I think it’ll be a great fight and I think, he’s [Paul] very focused.
“As much as he’s a YouTuber and comes from that side of things, he really dedicated himself in boxing.
“So I think he’ll be able to do the business but again, Tommy Fury is from that lineage of the Fury family so they are gonna come and fight.
“It will be an exciting fight.” More

Tyson Fury ‘would BEAT Muhammad Ali in fantasy fight as Brit has combination we’ve NEVER seen of power and speed’

TYSON FURY would beat Muhammad Ali in a fantasy fight. That’s the view of legendary matchmaker Bob Arum who has promoted some of boxing’s best ever champions – including Fury – and fights.

That includes sporting icon Ali, the three-time heavyweight champion who is considered by many as ‘The Greatest’.
But more recently, Arum has guided Fury’s rise to stardom in America and claimed the Gypsy King would have had Ali’s number.
Arum told Rich Eisen: “Fury wins. No heavyweight before or since can beat Fury.
“Fury is so incredible. Guys who are 6’9 were bums when Ali was fighting, because they couldn’t move and there were always flaws.”
Fury first won the belts with a shock 2015 points win over Wladimir Klitschko.
But after a battle with depression and substance abuse, just a year later he vacated the straps.

It then sparked one of the greatest comebacks of all time as in 2018 Fury, 33, returned after only three fights to challenge for the title again.
He was denied a remarkable win over then-WBC king Deontay Wilder, 36, following a disputed draw.
But Fury put things right in their 2020 rematch and this October won the trilogy bout with a brutal round 11 knockout.
Arum said: “Here’s a guy Fury, takes an incredible punch, moves like a Welterweight, and has a pretty good punch himself, knows how to box.
“We haven’t seen that combination, ever. You know, I feel sorry for Wilder, who is a terrific fighter, because he came in an era that gave us Tyson Fury
“It’s not a fluke, because Tyson Fury beat Wladimir Klitschko when Klitschko was riding high and nobody gave Fury a chance.
“Fury is the goods because he can box, he can punch and he keeps getting better.”

Gervonta Davis snatches close points win over huge underdog Isaac Cruz after suffering brutal hand injury during fight

GERVONTA DAVIS edged out a close points win over underdog Isaac Cruz after suffering a hand injury. Davis ran out the winner on the scorecards after 12 rounds to retain the secondary WBA ‘Regular’ lightweight title.

The unbeaten American moved to 25-0 after the unanimous decision but revealed he sustained an injury to his hand during the fight.
Davis, 27, said: “At the beginning of the fight, he came on strong.
“I felt as the fight was going, he was breaking down. But I hurt my hand, so I wasn’t able to get him out of there.”
Cruz, 23, only filled in on five weeks notice after Rolando Romero, 26, was withdrawn amid sexual assault allegations.
The Mexican pushed Floyd Mayweather’s protege ‘Tank’ all the way, but is not in line for a rematch, as Davis responded with ‘hell no’ when asked.
Cruz said after defeat: “I have nothing to say. The fans are speaking on who won this fight.”

Davis was the aggressor throughout the first half of the fight, favouring the uppercut as Cruz rushed in.
But towards the second half of the fight, Davis was reduced to just his jab due to his injured right hand.
It was enough to see him snatch a points verdict and remain undefeated, with unified lightweight champion George Kambosos, 28, ringside.
Kambosos stunned Teofimo Lopez, 24, to win the belts and now looks set to fight Devin Haney, 23, who just beat JoJo Diaz, 29.
But after Davis’ win, lightweight star Ryan Garcia, 23, called out his long-time rival.
Garcia tweeted: Gervonta gets away with fighting c level fighters, out of all the lightweights he’s the weakest!!!
“His toughest test was Leo Santa Cruz, almost lost tonight bring it on I’ve been calling you out for awhile…”
