TOMMY FURY’S doctor Usman Sajjad has claimed the boxer risked suffering a cardiac arrest had he not pulled out of his bout to face Jake Paul.The Love Island star withdrew from his dust-up against the American YouTuber later this month due to a severe chest infection and broken rib.

Paul has since branded TNT as an ’embarrassment’ as he declared that the 22-year-old cracked under the pressure to face him.
And the Problem Child, 24, believes that the British light-heavyweight is ‘scared’ of settling their differences inside the squared circle.
But Sajjad has insisted that Fury was desperate to pit his wits against the former Disney actor, and has held responsibility for the fight not happening.
He has even stated how Fury faces 12 weeks out of the boxing ring as he now recovers from what could have resulted in ‘a medical emergency’.
Taking to his Instagram story, he said: “What had happened was he had a chest infection the week before. He was on appropriate treatment for that, antibiotics and what not.
“But he was coughing and it was made worse, but then he improved, I assessed him two Thursdays ago and we had a strength and conditioning session where he was fine.

“There was no tenderness around the sixth or seventh rib region and then he had a sparring session the next Monday. It was a tough sparring session, so I was asked by his dad to go up and assess him.
“So I get there and there is a bit of swelling and tenderness in that region but I didn’t suspect there was a fracture at all, even though he was in a lot of pain. 
“So I thought it was best for him to rest from training, but he then reports that symptoms are worsening over a couple of days, he’s vomiting, in more pain.
“We managed to get him a private MRI scan on the Thursday, he had that done on December 2 and it shows multiple fractures, cartilage damage as well, in the sixth, seventh and ninth ribs.”
He added: “Tommy was desperately wanting to fight. He said ‘give me an injection a week, we’re going to do whatever it takes’, but I had to say, ‘no – this could be a life threatening thing’. 
“There was a risk of Pneumothorax (collapsed lung), if you get tapped there during training or the fight that’s a medical emergency.
“You’d be short of breath and it could lead to a cardiac arrest.
“Tommy was desperate on fighting, and you need to realise these fighters are not robots, they’re human beings and going into the ring with a broken rib, I’d rather go into the ring with a broken hand.

“I take 100 per cent responsibility for pulling him out and I’m sure his dad does as well.
“We made the decision as a team – I gave my medical report, the scan findings and his dad pulled him out.”

The two warriors then produced a battle for the ages two months ago as they met for a third time.
But despite Wilder knocking the Brit down twice, he suffered a knockout blow in the 11th to end their long-running rivalry.
While Fury now looks set to defend against Dillian Whyte in 2022 before attempting to unify the division against Oleksandr Usyk or Anthony Joshua, questions remain over what is next for the man he beat.
Wilder recently insisted on his fiancée Telli Swift’s podcast that ‘the best is yet to come’ as he vowed to return to the ring.
Now it seems he may be having a change of heart with the 36-year-old star hinting he could hang up the gloves for good.

Fury, 22, shared an x-ray of the injury he suffered in training, as he revealed that he ‘wasn’t able to breathe’.
But Taylor, who was outpointed by TNT in August, has stated that Fury pulled out due to his physical conditioning following too much partying with his brother Tyson.
Speaking to the Betway Insider blog, he said: “The real reason he’s out of this fight isn’t because of some injury, it’s because of his physical conditioning.
“He was so busy partying with his brother after Tyson won that fight, that he’s now in no good condition to fight.
“Tommy also originally thought was fighting in February, so he’s now in no condition to fight.
“Tommy is still green at this moment. And he’s still young. Jake is in the gym all the time, while Tommy’s was probably out still celebrating.
“Tommy did not have a really full training camp for this. He thought he was guaranteed the win because he’s from a fighting family.

“But let me tell you, if this fight with Jake ever does get made, Tommy is in for a rude awakening!”
Tyson had declared last month how Tommy could beat the YouTuber-turned boxer with broken ribs, a busted left hand, two left feet and the flu.
But following his withdrawal from his contest with Paul, 24, Taylor insisted that he isn’t cut from the same cloth as the WBC heavyweight champion.
He added: “You heard what Tyson Fury said? He said, ‘Tommy can have a broken arm, broken ribs, one left leg arm tied behind his back, no hands, and on his worst day he would still turn up and beat Jake Paul’.
“He said all of this and now Tommy is pulling out. I’ve been saying this for a long time – Tyson and Tommy are not cut from the same cloth.
“Tyson is that strong Bounty paper towel and Tommy is a cheap toilet tissue… I knew that Tommy was going to pull out.”
