      Four opponents Anthony Joshua must fight before he retires, including Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder and Dillian Whyte

      Two years ago, the 33-year-old told Sky Sports: “Five years left and that’s basically an Olympic cycle.
      “I’ve got an Olympic cycle and a little bit more left, so when you see the next Olympics happen is when I’ll be coming to the end of my career and the next generation will be coming through.”
      For Joshua to be seen as a true heavyweight great, he must first see off all the remaining challengers in the division.
      And there are five men, in particular, AJ has to trade leather with before it’s all said and done.

      Tyson Fury
      A fight with Tyson Fury is one British boxing fans have been itching to see for years. And it was in the works until Deontay Wilder won a legal case for a trilogy fight.
      But talks were made, so technically all that remained was for a venue and date to be finalised for a potential £500million showpiece.
      However, Joshua’s defeat to Oleksandr Usyk scuppered those plans.

      There’s simply been too much trash talk between Joshua and Wilder for this fight not to come to fruition.
      The pair were at loggerheads long before Fury returned to the fray, although Wilder hasn’t mentioned his fellow Olympian for some time now.
      Stylistically, Joshua vs Fury is a fascinating match-up that has all the ingredients to be an absolute fire fight.
      And despite Wilder’s emphatic dethroning at the hands of Fury, there’s still some fan interest in the match-up.

      Like it or not, Joshua still has a score to settle with Andy Ruiz Jr – the man responsible for handing him his first professional loss.
      There was no doubting he was the better man in their rematch in Saudi Arabia in December 2019.
      But with the score level at one win apiece, can he truly say he’s better than Mexico’s first heavyweight champion without sharing the ring with him again?
      And let’s not forget the condition Ruiz Jr – who had clearly been enjoying the high life after his stunning upset win – came in for his second showdown with AJ.
      Despite the dominant nature of his Saudi revenge job, Joshua has to run this one back again.

      While we’re on the topic of trilogy fights, Joshua still needs to settle the score with fellow Brit Dillian Whyte.
      If you count their amateur meeting in 2009, the series between Joshua and Whyte is level.
      One could argue there’s no cause for a third fight as Joshua brutally knocked out The Bodysnatcher in their 2015 showdown.
      But given the improvements Whyte has made since that setback, with the exception of his loss to Alexander Povetkin, a third fight with AJ is still marketable.
      And I’m sure there’s few things Joshua would love more than to silence his domestic rival once and for all.

      Fury ‘bottled’ Usyk fight after pulling out despite Joshua being ready to take step-aside cash says Ukrainian’s promoter

      EDDIE HEARN has claimed Oleksandr Usyk’s reps think Tyson Fury BOTTLED an undisputed fight with the Ukrainian.The Gypsy King was in talks to face the former undisputed cruiserweight champion as they prepared to pay Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte step aside fees.

      And Eddie Hearn, who promotes both Joshua and Whyte, has revealed Usyk’s representatives believe it was Fury who scuppered the deal.
      Speaking to iFL TV about the situation, Hearn said: “Anthony Joshua stepped up to fight Oleksandr Usyk.
      “Not, ‘Hang on, I’ll just do a few posts on Instagram pretending I wanna fight him.’
      “I spoke to Alex Krassyuk [Usyk’s promoter] last night – they feel that Tyson Fury has bottled the fight vs Usyk.”
      These comments from Hearn suggest Joshua was up for stepping aside to allow a Fury-Usyk clash.
      But Fury now looks set to take on mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte next after the WBC champion’s promoter Frank Warren won the purse bid on Friday.

      That frees up Joshua to rematch Usyk in an attempt to reclaim the heavyweight belts he lost at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last year.
      And Hearn confirmed prior to the Fury-Whyte purse bid that the all-British clash is expected to take place before the end of April.
      Usyk-Joshua II will then be around May time.
      Hearn said: “I think April 29 is the date if we win the purse bid we have to do the fight by.
      “So we have to do that fight by then. That’s Fury against Whyte.

      “AJ, I think will be a little bit later. I think that’ll be in May. So I think you’ll see Fury-Whyte in April. I mean if we win the bid.

      The Gypsy King retained his crown by emphatic knockout back in October last year, with unification against then-champ Anthony Joshua eyed up.
      AJ was to ultimately lose his own title defence to Oleksandr Usyk and now the pair are poised to rematch, so Fury’s attention has turned to mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte as he puts his belt on the line once again.

      The 6ft 9in undefeated ace wanted Whyte to accept around £5m to step aside and let him fight Usyk.
      But Whyte’s team have dug in with their man wanting the chance to take Fury’s belts – and have finally got their wish, with Warren confirming the fight on Friday, January 28.
      Fury said: “I’m coming home baby. Get ready for the biggest British dust-up since Lennox Lewis vs Frank Bruno. History in the making.”
      When is Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte?

      A date has yet to be announced for the all-British showdown but Fury says it WILL be in the UK.
      Fury hasn’t fought in the UK since 2018 when he faced Sefer Seferi in Manchester and then Francesco Pianeta in Belfast.

      What is the fight venue?
      The most likely venue for the event is reportedly Cardiff or Manchester, but no details are set in stone.
      If Fury returned to his roots in the North West it would be his first appearance there in three years since the win over Seferi.
      And either venue would be great news for UK fight fans, with the bout likely to take place at a friendlier time than the 5am GMT epics against Wilder.

      Which TV channel and live stream will it be on?
      BT Sport Box Office has been CONFIRMED as broadcasters for the fight.
      BT wrote in a tweet to confirm the news: “The time for talking is over! After years of back and forth, the heavyweight showdown is on!

      FRANK WARREN has won the purse bids to stage Tyson Fury’s WBC heavyweight title fight against fellow Brit Dillian Whyte.The Gypsy King’s promoter beat Eddie Hearn to stage the clash with a MASSIVE bid of £30.6million – with Fury receiving £24.5m of the pot.

      This is due to the 80/20 split in WBC champion Fury’s favour.
      Mandatory challenger Whyte is set to secure £6.1m in his first ever world title bout.
      Hearn bid £24m to stage the fight.
      And 33-year-old Fury hinted it could take place in the UK with a post on his Instagram immediately after the purse bids.
      Alongside a smiling snap of himself, Fury said: “Big GK is coming home. UK baby.”
      Fury has not fought in the UK since he returned to the sport in 2018 following a lengthy lay-off.

      The purse bids for a Fury-Whyte clash had been postponed several times as both parties continued negotiations.
      But a deal could not be reached and eventually the bid went ahead as Warren came out on top.
      A fight between the two Brits looks set to leave Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk poised for a rematch in the first half of 2022.
      There had been discussions about Joshua and Whyte stepping aside to allow an undisputed clash between Fury and Usyk.
      But those talks broke down on Thursday as Joshua and Whyte’s promoter Hearn accused Fury of ducking a clash with the Ukrainian.
      He said: “Anthony Joshua stepped up to fight Oleksandr Usyk.
      “Not, ‘Hang on, I’ll just do a few posts on Instagram pretending I wanna fight him.’

      “I spoke to Alex Krassyuk [Usyk’s promoter] last night – they feel that Tyson Fury has bottled the fight vs Usyk.”
      Fury is unbeaten in 32 professional fights having won 31 and drawn one – the only blemish coming in his first fight with Deontay Wilder in 2018.
      Whyte has suffered two defeats in his pro career – against Joshua in 2015 and then in his first fight with Alexander Povetkin in 2020. More

      Matchroom Boxing chief Hearn is among the bidders for the domestic dust-up and plans to have Fury and Joshua fight in quick succession if he’s successful.
      He told iFL TV: “I think April 29 is the date if we win the purse bid we have to do the fight by.
      “So we have to do that fight by then. That’s Fury against Whyte.
      “AJ, I think will be a little bit later. I think that’ll be in May. So I think you’ll see Fury-Whyte in April. I mean if we win the bid.
      “If Frank [Warren] wins the bid, maybe he does [it on a different date].”
      Hearn – who has a lucrative deal in place with streaming platform DAZN – will go all out to land Fury and Whyte’s mouthwatering clash.

      He continued: “We’re going to be very aggressive, it would be a major coup for us.
      “But as I said earlier, it’s not always easy being on the small end of the split.
      “But it depends. I don’t know [about ] Tyson’s deal, what he’s negotiating with Top Rank etc. So there’s a lot of work to be done today.”
      Fury’s showdown with Whyte moved a huge step closer to coming to fruition this week when a step-aside deal for Joshua to forgo his rematch with unified heavyweight champ Oleksandr Usyk fell through.
      But Hearn has claimed the collapse of the proposed undisputed bout was the fault of the Gypsy King.
      He told iFL TV: “The reality of the situation is we would be willing to see a long-form agreement with a plan for AJ.
      “But we’re not even at that stage. Tyson Fury had the opportunity to discuss – Fury doesn’t want to fight Usyk, in my opinion.
      “Because he had the opportunity to do it through these discussions and really, when it came down to it, he really don’t want to.
      “What Fury wants to do is have a little easy one in March, that’s what he really wants to do.
      “Now, he’s going to have to fight Dillian Whyte, and by the way, after all of this kerfuffle, he’ll get beat by Dillian Whyte, he’ll get knocked out by Dillian Whyte.

      “But the reality is, when it really came down to it, he never wanted to fight Oleksandr Usyk.
      “Because he could’ve gone straight into a fight with Oleksandr Usyk, but he didn’t want to go straight into a fight with Oleksandr Usyk.
      “But you won’t ever hear that and the public won’t ever hear that. You’ll just hear Fury on Instagram, screaming and shouting with smoking mirrors.”

      JAKE PAUL has been warned ‘no amount of training’ could prepare him to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov in MMA. The YouTuber was invited to the cage by Khabib, in the UFC legend’s Eagle Fighting Championship.

      But Paul insisted he would only sign with Nurmagomedov if he could fight the unbeaten and retired Russian straight away.
      The American, who competed as a high-school wrestler, had previously teased a switch to MMA by posting a video throwing leg kicks.
      Still, despite his recent session and prior grappling background, former UFC champion Michael Bisping advised him against ever fighting legendary Khabib.
      Bisping, 42, said on his YouTube channel: “For Jake Paul to be going out there and saying he will fight in MMA against Khabib, I mean what the f*** is that?
      “No amount of training from Khabib or from anyone is gonna have you beating Khabib, yes he did a little bit of wrestling when he’s at school.
      “Guess what, I haven’t researched Jake Paul’s wrestling credentials. I haven’t looked in so maybe I’m wrong, but I heard he wrestled a bit.

      TYSON FURY showed off his 15 ROUND training session with dad John… and was joined by his returning brother Tommy. The WBC champion is fight long-time rival Dillian Whyte next after negotiations over a undisputed blockbuster with Oleksandr Usyk fell through.

      And the gruelling sessions in his private gym are well underway for the unbeaten Gypsy King.
      In an Instagram clip, Fury is seen throwing brutal combinations on a body belt worn by his dad John.
      He captioned the post: “15 rounds today for the fat man. Father son thing.”
      Joining them in the ring was younger brother Tommy, 22, who is back in training after suffering a broken rib.
      That injury saw him pull out of his celebrity grudge match against YouTuber Jake Paul, 25, in December.
      Tommy is training with his big brother for his expected boxing return, targeted for March.

      Fury had been at the centre of a heavyweight saga involving Anthony Joshua, Dillian Whyte and Usyk.
      Whyte is currently his mandatory challenger, while Joshua is owed an immediate rematch having lost to Usyk in September.
      But Middle Eastern backers were fronting talks for the pair to accept step-aside offers and allow Fury, 33, and Usyk to instead fight in a unification.
      It was claimed £115million was put up for a historic, first-ever four-belt heavyweight unification.

      It would have seen Joshua paid up to £15m and receive a guaranteed shot at the winner.
      And Whyte would also have been paid £5m to forfeit his shot at Fury’s WBC belt.
      But in a twist, ESPN report there was step-aside ‘agreement in principle’ until ‘parties attempted to renegotiate at the 11th hour’.
      It means Fury is now set to face Whyte with purse bids for the title defence due to take place on Friday evening.
      Fury’s promotional team of Bob Arum and Frank Warren will auction against Eddie Hearn for the right to host the grudge match.
      Meanwhile, Joshua is all-but confirmed for a rematch with Usyk, having been dethroned of the WBA, IBF and WBO belts.
