      Anthony Joshua falls behind Tyson Fury’s cousin to FIFTH in WBA rankings ahead of crunch rematch with Oleksandr Usyk

      And the World Boxing Association haven’t looked favourably on their former champion following his defeat to his fellow London 2012 gold medallist.
      The Watford warrior is now behind Hughie Fury – the cousin of WBC champ Tyson – Robert Helenius and Michael Hunter in the WBA’s heavyweight pecking order.
      And to make matters worse for Joshua, he’s also behind rookie Britsh heavyweight Daniel Dubois – who tops the list.
      Unified heavyweight champ Usyk – who currently possesses the WBA strap – sits atop of the organisation’s rankings.
      Joshua and Usyk will renew their rivalry later this year, with SunSport understanding their rematch is tentatively slated for late March or early April.
      An announcement for AJ’s potentially do-or-die fight is expected in the coming weeks.

      And the Mexican sanctioning body has ordered their 6ft 9in ace to fight mandatory challenger Whyte first, while Anthony Joshua handles a rematch with Oleksandr Usyk over the WBA, IBF and WBO belts.

      And now the boxing power brokers in the House of Saud have another shot at teeing up the sport’s pinnacle event by holding lead-up bouts.
      Whyte boxed on the AJ undercard in Diriyah, so has no problem boxing under the controversial regime.
      And Oleksandr Usyk was ringside as a guest to watch all the action on the outskirts of Riyadh, so should have no problem signing up for another Gulf mission.

      Jake Paul named Sports Illustrated’s ‘Breakout Boxer of the Year’ despite just FIVE pro fights

      YOUTUBER turned boxer Jake Paul has been named as Sports Illustrated’s Breakout Boxer of the Year.Paul fought three times in 2021, winning all of the bouts.

      But in total the 24-year-old has fought just five times in his career since making his pro debut in January 2020.
      Paul told American magazine Sports Illustrated: “To think about how all the things that happened in the fashion that it all happened, it’s just sort of mind-blowing.”
      The company chose him for the award on the back of his performances in the ring, and being ‘one of boxing’s biggest attractions’ outside it.
      His first fight of 2021 came in April, with Paul savagely knocking out former MMA star Ben Askren in less than two minutes.
      A bout against former UFC-champ Tyron Woodley followed in August.
      That one was a much closer contest – Paul coming out on top via split decision.

      But there was only one winner when the pair faced off again in December.
      A brutal right-hand from Paul dropped Woodley to the canvas in the sixth round as the social media star secured a fourth KO victory in five professional fights.
      And for those performances he scored the Breakout Boxer of the Year award from Sports Illustrated.
      His huge marketability is also a factor in landing the title, as Sports Illustrated claim they have crowned him ‘not for his potential, but for what he already is.’
      Paul boasts over 20million subscribers on YouTube, 18million followers on Instagram, and nearly 16million on TikTok.
      Boxing purists though fumed at the decision, as one begged on Twitter: “Stop this madness.”
      And another raged: “But he’s not boxing. He’s taking on career MMA fighters known for fighting on the ground and making them box. It’s a load of garbage. Fight a damn BOXER.”
      The latest announcement follows the news that Paul was also the winner of ESPN’s KO of the year.
      That award was for the brutal beatdown of Woodley in December – and was voted for by fans.
      He was originally due to lock horns with Tommy Fury, not Woodley, before the Love Islander withdrew from their grudge match due to illness and injury. More

      AJ was taught a boxing lesson by Usyk in their Tottenham tussle last September, so much so that retired heavyweight David Price reckons the slick southpaw will still have the beating of the Brit.
      He told talkSPORT: “I just think Usyk has got his number.
      “Every fighter has an opponent where that style of fighting and that man in particular.
      “You’re just going to have to be really lucky to win the fight.”
      Smooth operator Usyk has yet to make a costly mistake 19-fight career and Price can’t see one happening in his first defence of the unified titles.

      “I do not think Usyk is someone that will make the mistake where he will put himself in a position to be knocked out by an Anthony Joshua punch.”
      SunSport understands Joshua and Usyk’s second dance is tentatively slated for late March or early April.

      And multiple sources have revealed to SunSport the pair’s respective tests ‘produced negative results for all prohibited substances.’
      The Florida Athletic Commission didn’t make the test results public knowledge due to ‘medical privacy’.
      A FAC spokesperson told SunSport: “Both fighters submitted to a urinalysis prior to the bout.
      “The Florida Athletic Commission does not release medical or testing results.”
      They later added: “The Florida Athletic Commission does not release medical testing information due to medical privacy.
      “The penalties for banned substances are defined in Section 548.046 (3)(d) of Florida Statutes.”

      Despite showing no signs of performance-enhancing drug use, Problem Child Paul has been dogged by accusations of banned substance use over the last five months.
      Last August, renowned mixed martial arts coach Firas Zahabi claimed Paul was ‘definitely’ ‘going to be on PEDs’ for his first encounter with Woodley.
      UFC president Dana White recently accused Paul of using steroids in a video responding to the social media star’s demands to compete inside the octagon.
      White said: “You publicly stated that I use cocaine. I do not. So I told you, you could randomly cocaine test me for the next 10 years.
      “I believe that you’re a cheater and I believe that you use steroids, so I want to randomly steroid test you for the next two years.”
      Social media sensation Paul quickly denied White’s allegation, saying in a three-minute-long video: “Dana, I accepted every part of your challenge. I said I would fight [Jorge] Masvidal in MMA.
      “Steroid test me whenever the f**k you want. It is two weeks after my fight and I’m a fat b****.
      “And I take it as a compliment because there’s no other excuse to me knocking out all your champions [than].’ This kid does steroids.’
      “Look at me. Look at that, a fat b****.”

      In his brief professional boxing career Paul, 24, has never tested positive for PEDS or anabolic steroids.
      Former Disney star Paul stretched his unbeaten record to 5-0 with a stunning sixth-round stoppage of Woodley, whom he fought to a split decision victory last August.

      And the Mexican sanctioning body has ordered their 6ft 9in ace to fight mandatory challenger Whyte first, while Anthony Joshua handles a rematch with Oleksandr Usyk over the WBA, IBF and WBO belts.
      Both Brit giants will be eager to earn as much as possible from the all-English showdown but Whyte especially as the WBC have insisted their interim champion is worthy of only 20 per cent of the purse.

      Fury spoke directly to Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud in May 2021, when he was deep in negotiations for a doomed showdown with Joshua in the hyper-conservtive region.
      And was already well on board with helping to promote the fight, as well as the widely criticised rulers who have been accused of sports washing.
      He roared: “I’ve just got off the phone from Prince Khalid of Saudi Arabia, he’s told me this fight is 100 per cent on. August 14, 2021 summertime.
      “All eyes of the world will be on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
      “This is going to be the biggest sporting event ever to grace the planet earth. Do not miss it. All eyes on us.”
      The bout collapsed when he was forced into the Wilder finale by an arbitration judge.
      But it seems the pair have kept on good terms and hosting a Fury defence could strengthen Saudi’s chance of finally holding an undisputed heavyweight battle.
      When the Arab state held Joshua’s cautious rematch win over Andy Ruiz Jr in December 2019, it was on the basis that his subsequent shot at the remaining WBC belt against Fury or Wilder would happen there.

      And now the boxing power brokers in the House of Saud have another shot at teeing up the sport’s pinnacle event by holding lead-up bouts.
      Whyte boxed on the AJ undercard in Diriyah, so has no problem boxing under the controversial regime.
      And Oleksandr Usyk was ringside as a guest to watch all the action on the outskirts of Riyadh, so should have no problem signing up for another Gulf mission.

      But the unregulated belt brand squeezes extra sanctioning fees out of fighters but also anointing a ‘regular’ champion.
      American Trevor Bryan currently holds the B-rated belt but his overdue fight with Germany’s Manuel Charr has just collapsed for the umpteenth time.
      And that means 24-year-old ace Dubois, the No1 contender who has rebuilt from his November 2020 loss to Joe Joyce with two KO wins, is next in line for a crack at the title.
      Bryan is promoted by notorious American fight flogger Don King, so negotiations could still get very complicated.
