Brook earned a sixth-round stoppage after referee Victor Loughlin stepped in to stop Khan from taking a battering.
And Brook, 35, showed he wasn’t asleep on the job with his brutal demolition.
It came after he was even forced to change gloves in the ring just minutes before the main event began.
Special K roared: “I always knew it was going to happen. What a feeling.
“I’m back on top now and I’ve got the bragging rights.
“I always knew from when I was 18 that I was a better fighter than him and tonight the fans got to see a mega fight and I dealt with him.
“I even had to put different gloves on in the ring. I was told they weren’t gonna pay me if I didn’t put them on.

“I even had someone knocking on my hotel door at 4aam in the morning trying to upset my preparation.
“They tried to get into my head all week but I took care of business. I can live at peace with myself. I’m back, baby.”
Khan looked beaten, bruised and battered at the end and in truth was only rescued from his own bravery by a compassionate referee.
The former world champ said: “I’m very upset. I just couldn’t get it going. Kell was the best man tonight. Respect to him.”
“I need to sit down with my family but it’s near the end of my career. I may have to call it a day.” More

Amir Khan’s face looks battered and bruised after his brutal defeat to rival Kell Brook

AMIR Khan’s face looked battered and bruised after his brutal defeat to rival Kell Brook.Khan was making his return to the ring after three years out of boxing.

But the former world champion looked a shadow of his former self as he took a beating from Brook.
From the first bell to the moment the referee stopped the fight in the sixth round, Khan took a battering.
He was on the receiving end of several brutal combinations, and at times his legs looked like they were going to give way.
But he recovered to keep fighting, although it was nothing like the fighter of old.
And after the TKO finish, his normally chiselled face looked a mess.
Khan said: “I am very upset. After all the training I have done I just couldn’t get it going.
“I was falling a little bit short. No disrespect to Kell Brook, he put a great performance on. He did everything he needed to do.
“I was missing quite a lot. Kell was on his A-game today.”

But a sellout crowd in Manchester was forced to wait as the bout was delayed due to a bizarre dispute between the fighters over Brooks’ gloves.
All seemed to going smoothly as Brook was given the all-clear to make his ring walk.
But once the Sheffield star entered the ring, he was forced to quickly change his gloves in unusual scenes, leaving viewers baffled.
One boxing fan wrote: “Brooks changing gloves in the ring, what’s going on. Delay was down to a dispute about hand wraps according to ESPN. Don’t they agree on gloves being worn in advance to the fight?”
Another added: “Never seen gloves changed in the ring in all my years of watching boxing. You’d swear it was Brooks first fight!”

A third said: “I don’t recall a boxer ever changing gloves upon entering the ring.”
Brook remained ice cool through the process and focused on the job at hand – defeating rival Khan.
And the big distraction did not affect Brook as he dominated the opening rounds before securing a sixth-round stoppage.
The Brit caught Khan with multiple shots and sent the former world champion wobbling.
The pair vowed to knock out one another and both made good on their word as they turned the contest into a battle.
But it was Brook who succeeded as referee Victor Loughlin called a halt to the contest less than a minute into the sixth round to prevent Khan from taking any more necessary punishment. More

    Khan vs Brook
Round 5 – Khan smiles at Brook, almost to say ‘haven’t you put me down yet?’
It’s incredible that Khan hasn’t hit the canvas yet. For all the talk about his chin, he’s taken some real shots here.
But Brook is completely in control.

Round 5 – The end is surely near.
    Brook is landing at will.
    Khan vs Brook
Round 4 – I have to give that one to Brook as well. He’s completely in charge here and amazing that Khan hasn’t been done.
For the second round in a row, Khan ends it on the ropes and is happy just to be stumbling back to his corner.

    Khan vs Brook
Round 3 – Khan looking to come forward more and dictate the pace, maybe sensing he’s behind early. But he’s wild as he looks to lunge in and land.
Brook the more composed and waiting patiently for his chance to land.
Brook is well on top. He’s caught Khan again at the end of the round and the Bolton boy is happy to just see the bell.
One-way traffic so far – a clinic from Brook.
    Khan vs Brook
Round 2 – A more even round that one, but still probably in favour of Brook.
He landed a sweeping right hand as the pair broke but Khan took it well.
Khan happy just to get through that and get his legs back under him.
    Khan vs Brook
Round 2 – Chants of ‘Amir, Amir’ go up as Khan looks to bounce back in the second round.
He’s got his legs back and looking steadier, but a bit more hesitant to throw.
Brook is looking to time that counter again.
    Khan vs Brook
Round 1 – What a second half to the round for Brook.
He landed repeatedly on Khan and somehow the Bolton man didn’t go down.
Khan’s legs were wobbling big time and Brook was walking him down and smiling.
    First round to Kell.

    Khan vs Brook
Round 1 – Brook is instantly on the front foot and looking to walk down Khan.
The Bolton boxer is fighting on the back foot and looking very quick and sharp.
    ‘Obey my commands’
Victor Loughlin gives the fighters their final instructions.
Khan is bouncing up and down while Brook stares at him.
    WE’RE READY TO GO!
    Final countdown
Khan stalks his way round the ring while Brook has his back turned and is shadow boxing.
Michael Buffer is making the final introductions.
    On the way
‘Ain’t Nobody’ by Diana King is the walk-on music for Khan as he literally runs down the ramp to the ring.
He’s bouncing up and down and a bit on edge.
    Here comes Amir
Khan is now on his way to the ring dressed all in white with gold trim.
He looks focussed and in the zone.
Hard to say where the majority of the support is.
    Glove story
Brook’s gloves have been taken off and checked.
I’ve never seen anything like this.
The gloves are going back on. Everything seems to be OK.

    Turn up the lights
A huge ovation for Special K as he leaps into the ring.

The couple then welcomed their third child
    Who is Kell Brook fighting?
Brook will take on bitter foe Amir Khan in Manchester.
With both fighters past their primes, most are viewing the fight as a final cash-out for both Khan and Brook.
But the entertainment value in the build-up has remained high, with both men exchanging barbs ahead of their Manchester clash.
Khan jabbed in their Gloves Are Off episode on Sky Sports that Brook has been obsessed with him for years, while Brook accused his foe of ducking the fight all this time.
‘Special K’ then rejected the opportunity to shake Khan’s hand when the Bolton man offered his peacemaker.
Khan vs Brook will take place in Manchester in front of a sold-out crowd of 20,000, with the main event expected to get underway at 10.30pm UK time. More

Natasha Jonas finally realises world title dream as she stops Chris Namus to win WBO belt

NATASHA JONAS was finally crowned a world champion at her third attempt after leaping up to super-welterweight to snatch WBO gold. After two narrowly failed efforts at super-feather and lightweight, the Liverpool queen got her coronation down the M62 in Manchester.

Uruguay’s Chris Namus was the bigger woman but Jonas – with daughter Mela’s name proudly embossed on her black shorts in gold – chopped her down inside two rounds to land the title.
“I cannot put it into words,” she roared. “I have made so many sacrifices but not just in boxing but my whole life.
“My trainer Joe Gallagher has done so much for me, he never takes any credit when his fighters do well and he always wants to take the blame when things go wrong.
“This belt is for my little girl, Mela, I can’t wait to bring it home to you baby girl.”
Jonas was the first woman to ever represent Team GB at boxing in 2009 but Olympic medals eluded her.
It looked like a world title would also slip through the 37-year-old’s fingers.

Namus was dropped violently in the opening round when a booming left hand and chopping right hook – from Jonas’ southpaw stance – collapsed her foe.
Couregeously Namus – who had Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani in the crowd supporting her – got back to her feet in time and gave it another go in the second.
But Jonas’ punches were too precise and powerful and Namus was in danger of serious injury in the second before the referee halted the onslaught. More

Olympic hero Frazer Clarke wins first pro fight as he batters Jake Darnell on Khan vs Brook undercard

FRAZER CLARKE got his professional career off and running by battering fan-turned-fighter Jake Darnell. As late as Wednesday Team GB’s 2020 Olympic bronze winner was desperate for an opponent to help him make his pro bow at the Manchester Arena, after a decorated amateur career.

Then 0-1 Blackpool slugger Darnell stumbled across the Trafford Centre media workout and called his manager looking for a ticket to see Saturday’s Amir Khan vs Kell Brook headline clash.
Darnell got a call back to tell him that he could get one of the best seats in the house IF he agreed to take on the 6ft 6in Burton giant live on Sky Sports an hour before.
And – in true tough-guy fashion – Darnell grabbed the challenge and took on the powerhouse for a couple of minutes before his team threw in the towel when he was getting peppered with unanswered shots.
Clarke said: “No disrespect to my opponent but he was probably a soft touch.
“I had other opponents lined up but they all had to pull out over covid or travel restrictions so I am grateful that he stepped up.
“I tried not to rush because I still have a long way to go, this is just the start of the journey.
Frazer Clarke will be hoping for stiffer opposition in his next outingCredit: Richard Pelham / The Sun
“I have been thinking and dreaming about my debut for 12 years so it was great.”
Big Fraze, the dignified understudy to Anthony Joshua and Joe Joyce in Team GB’s heavyweight ranks for almost a decade, got the job done in ruthless fashion.
But fans will want to see the Only Fools and Horses superfan step against better-prepared opposition soon.

What is the difference between horsehair and foam-padded boxing gloves? Khan vs Brook glove dispute explained

BOXING often throws up plenty of disagreement and conflict, especially between some of the sport’s biggest stars on fight week. And this is the case in the Amir Khan vs Kell Brook bout in Manchester.
Tyson Fury knocked Deontay Wilder out in their entertaining third fightCredit: Reuters
JOIN SUN VEGAS: GET A FREE £10 BONUS WITH 100s OF GAMES TO PLAY AND NO DEPOSIT REQUIRED (Ts&Cs apply)
One particularly contentious part of fight week is glove selection, where both fighters and their respective camps will inspect and choose the gloves they will where on fight night.
Often, this is a smooth process, but as seen with Tyson Fury’s third fight with Deontay Wilder, it’s not always plain-sailing.
Wilder had already thrown accusations about the legality of Fury’s gloves for their second fight in 2020, and the Bronze Bomber wasn’t happy when Fury selected the same style of glove for the trilogy.
Fury famously wears horsehair material gloves, while Wilder has worn foam padding in his throughout his career, and both are legal.
But who do fighters get so antsy over glove selection? SunSport have rounded up all you need to know about one of the key formalities of fight week, and the differences between the two types of glove.

🥊 Khan vs Brook – ring walk time, undercard, TV channel and live stream info for HUGE fight night
What is the difference between horsehair and foam-padded boxing gloves?
It sounds self-explanatory – one gloves has horsehair in it, the other has foam.
But the use of horsehair in gloves, a tradition nearly as old as the sport, has been hotly-contested in recent years.
Horsehair padding provides the glove with less protection to both your hands, and your opponent’s face, therefore it favours those in the ring who consider themselves to be a knockout artist, or someone with really heavy hands.
Horsehair gloves are durable, though they absorb sweat easier, thus wearing the padding down quicker than that of their foam relatives.
Dubbed a ‘puncher’s glove’ horsehair gloves are often used by fighters with a come-forward Mexican style of fighting, or those seeking stoppages in their fights, much like Fury did against Wilder.
Fury wore Paffen branded gloves for both the rematch and the trilogy against Wilder, after he employed Kronk coach SugarHill Steward to train him to KO the American.
Paffen gloves use horsehair padding, unlike the majority of modern boxing gloves which use foam padding.

Following their second fight, in which Wilder was stopped in seven rounds, the Alabama native complained Fury’s gloves had an insufficient amount of padding in them, and that Fury’s punches left a dent in his face.
Wilder usually wears Everlast Powerlock gloves, which uses a PVC foam and latex material for padding.
Foam padded gloves have become more popular over the past two decades, as they keep your hands protected and they absorb shock better than horsehair gloves do.
Once Wilder found out that Fury would be using the same gloves for their trilogy, however, he opted to use Everlast MX instead, a horsehair-foam mix, in order to even the playing field.
Another fighter who was opposed to horsehair gloves was Floyd Mayweather, who often had it written into his fight contracts that his opponents weren’t allowed to use gloves with that type of padding.
Conor McGregor was famously banned from using horsehair for their fight back in 2017.

And Marcos Maidana had to change his gloves from horsehair to foam in 2014 on fight week after Mayweather came away from glove inspection less than impressed with the Argentine’s choice of glove.
Maidana ended up wearing Grant branded gloves, which Mayweather wore for most of his storied career.
Grant gloves are known as the best gloves on the market for those who want their hands to be ultra-protected, and they were perfect for Mayweather, who often suffered with hand injuries.
