ANTHONY JOSHUA labelled Mike Tyson a heavyweight ‘boss’ and said the boxing legend ‘lived it from day one’. Tyson in 1986 became the youngest heavyweight champion in history, knocking out Trevor Berbick aged just 20.

He then spent years terrifying the division, well and truly living up to his self-proclaimed ‘Baddest Man on The Planet’ nickname.
In an advert for fashion label Hugo Boss, former unified champ Joshua, 32, credits Tyson, 55, for his iconic career.
He said: “I like Mike Tyson. He embodied the discipline of a boss, which actually made him one of the greatest heavyweights ever.
“He didn’t wait to get there. He lived it from day one.”
Joshua for a long time was the boss of the heavyweight division, previously holding the WBA, IBF and WBO world titles.
But he insisted there is no shortcut to success, other than following the basics with dedication and commitment.

Joshua said: “My coach says it in boxing, ‘If you follow your A, B and C, it will lead you to the KO’.
“If you go about the mindset of a boss, follow the principles of a boss – work ethic, discipline, helping, teamwork.
“Follow your As, Bs and Cs and in boxing it will lead to KO and in business it will lead to the ultimate boss.”
Joshua last fought in September when he was dethroned by Oleksandr Usyk, 35, over 12 rounds.
He has exercised his right to an immediate rematch, but Usyk has also been in talks to unify his belts with Tyson Fury’s WBC version in the Middle East.
It complicates matters as Fury, 33, is mandated to fight WBC mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte, 33, next.
Meanwhile Usyk owes AJ a contracted rematch, meaning Joshua and Whyte would need to receive a step aside fee.
It is believed both have been offered a deal to sit out, to allow Fury and Usyk to fight in the first-ever, four-belt heavyweight unification.
But in a recent social media post, Joshua denied ever agreeing to a reported £15m deal.

CANELO ALVAREZ has been offered a fight against Jermall Charlo on his return – or a two-bout deal with Dmitry Bivol and Gennady Golovkin. The Mexican superstar is a free agent and not aligned to one single promoter or TV company and free to navigate his own path.

According to ESPN, Al Haymon’s PBC banner have offered Canelo a one-fight deal to headline on pay-per-view against American Charlo.
Whereas Eddie Hearn has a double header package, which would see Alvarez move up to light-heavyweight to face Bivol and then a trilogy bout with GGG.
Charlo, 31, is the current unbeaten WBC middleweight champion but has long rivalled Canelo, 31, who campaigns a division above at super-middleweight.
Alvarez finished his final fight of 2021 under PBC, beating Caleb Plant, 29, to become undisputed king.
He banked a guaranteed £30million with that figure rising following the box office success, where 800,000 PPVs were sold.
Staying with Haymon’s stable on either Showtime or Fox could prove a lucrative choice for Canelo.

But, after he split with Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy banner in 2020, Alvarez would fight three times under Hearn, while still on streaming service DAZN.
His wins over Callum Smith, 31, Avni Yildirim, 30 and Billy Joe Saunders, 32, all contributed on his road to undisputed glory.
Accepting Hearn’s proposal would offer Canelo the chance to collect another belt at light-heavyweight, having won the WBO version in 2019.
But following a late 11th-round knockout over Russian Sergey Kovalev, 38, he vacated the title to go back down in weight.
Hearn wants Canelo to attempt history and become undisputed at two weights, with the pound-for-pound No1 also linked with KO artist Artur Beterbiev, 37.
Bivol, 31, has held the title since 2017 and in May last year defended it in Manchester against Britain’s Craig Richards, 31.
Perhaps the most lucrative fight for Canelo in boxing is a trilogy with long-time rival Golovkin, 39.

The pair contentiously drew in 2017 with GGG unfortunate not to be given the verdict, only for the Kazakh to lose in the thrilling rematch a year later.
Both sold over 1m PPVs but the two would go on separate paths.
Golovkin has remained at middleweight, where he reigns as the IBF title holder and is set to unify it with the WBA belt against Japan’s Ryota Murata, 36.
But Canelo has warned GGG he must move up in weight for the first time to ensure a third instalment of their series.
Hearn is capable of offering the trilogy, having signed Golovkin, who fights on DAZN.
Canelo did have a request accepted by the WBC to move up to CRUISERWEIGHT and attempt a fifth world title.
But challenging champ Ilunga Makabu, 34, appears on the shelf for now.

MIKE TYSON is considering NEVER fighting again after his boxing comeback became “financial” instead of “fun”. The heavyweight legend made a stunning return in November 2020, more than 15 years after he announced retirement.

Tyson, 55, drew in an eight-round exhibition with fellow American great Roy Jones Jr, 53, on a Triller pay-per-view which sold a reported 1.6million packages.
But following the commercial success of Iron Mike’s comeback, he admitted boxing became more of a burden again.
Tyson said on Nelk Boys’ podcast: “I don’t think I will [fight] either but you never know again. 
“Every 12 to 13 months, boom, something is missing.
“Like, something is missing. Boom, I’m missing muscle mass, boom, it’s always something different.
“Guys want to fight me for $100million. I don’t think I’ll ever do stuff like that any more.
“I wanted to do it the first time, just for fun, to have fun. Some people took it to another level and made it financial and the fun went out of it.”

Tyson quickly announced plans to fight again and was rumoured to be in talks with old rivals Evander Holyfield, 59, and Lennox Lewis, 56.
YouTuber stars Logan and Jake Paul, 26 and 25 respectively, were also linked with the youngest heavyweight champion of all time.
SunSport revealed Tyson and Jake had a verbal agreement for a Las Vegas exhibition.
But when quizzed on the bout against the 5-0 social media sensation, Iron Mike admitted it was dead in the water.
Tyson said: “I’m not even interested in doing this stuff.
“If it was back when it first started, yes, and we were both fighting on the same card and both active, yeah I would do it but it just turned bad.
“It didn’t turn out right.”

The 32-year-old Team GB legend has been offered a stepaside deal, in the region of £15m, to cancel his rematch against WBA, IBF and WBO world champ Oleksandr Usyk and let Fury, 33, meet him to decide an undisputed champion.
Part of the plan would have to include AJ getting first crack at all four of the belts – after the potential Saudi Arabia clash – but Whyte is the WBC’s long-waiting mandatory challenger and would not accept that lightly.
Fury’s dig suggests Joshua has refused the offer of a stepaside fee AND a guaranteed shot at the winner to fulfil the instant rematch clause he activated after losing to Usyk in September.
In his best American accent, Fury roared: “I had to do this video, Eddie Hearn and Anthony Joshua have to be the worst two damn businessmen in history. Today they lost 90 million dollars, god damn sons of b******.”
Almost every respected boxing pundit believes the stepaside deal is a no-brainer for AJ, especially as he is yet to confirm a new head trainer after parting with mentor Rob McCracken.
But such a strategic business move might harm his brand and reputation as a self-proclaimed throwback fighter.

And Hearn confirmed that if he does allow Fury and Usyk to decide the first four-belt heavyweight king in history, it is likely to hurt him.
He said: “There has been an offer, there’s been several discussions with myself. I can’t rule it out, it’s not my job. AJ’s the boss – he will rule it out or not rule it out.
“He’s very smart about the plan. He won’t want to do it. Sometimes you have to think with your head. There is a smart play here somewhere but Anthony is not about the money.
“If the plan makes sense from a development point of view – working with a new trainer, maybe having a fight first, going into a much bigger fight – yeah, I can see the sense in it.
“But with Anthony it’s never been a case of, ‘Here’s some money, does it tempt you?’ Because he’s not about that, he’s a throwback fighter, he’s about legacy.
“All he’s thinking about at the moment is beating Oleksandr Usyk.”
A WBC statement said: “The World Boxing Council has received once again requests from the teams of Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte, to extend the period of free negotiations.

And for the fight of his life, Khan switched camps to join US trainer Brian ‘Bomac’ McIntyre in Nebraska and then Colorado.
McIntyre in 2019 cornered Crawford, 34, in the WBO welterweight champion’s win over the British boxing legend.
Then a year later Brook was beaten by the pound-for-pound star, and has not returned since.
It means Crawford – having beaten both – is the perfect advisor for Khan heading into the bitter grudge match.
But he is taking his role as camp mate to new heights, providing Khan with coaching and sparring.
A video revealed Crawford holding pads for the former light-welterweight champ.

And Khan hailed the unbeaten American for their sparring sessions in camp as well as his new trainer McIntyre.
He told Sky Sports: “I’m more confident.
“The way I’ve gone into training camp, and had a few sparring rounds with Crawford, and my sparring work and pad work with Bo-Mac and everyone, it’s back.
“I feel like when I was 25, 26, and at the peak of my career. I can’t see Kell Brook beating me.
“I’m a better skilled fighter, I’ve been in there with better opposition, but look, come fight night, it’s time to show my skills off.
“I’m just going to keep calm, I’m not going to think too much or get over confident, because at the end of the day you can’t get too confident about this because one punch can change a fight.

Mayweather, 44, has been out of the game professionally since 2017 after beating UFC superstar Conor McGregor, 33, in ten rounds.

Then two years later American vlogger Paul, 26, used his size to score a massive moral victory by taking Mayweather the distance.
But beforehand, it was renowned troublemaker Jake, 25, who stole headlines – quite literally – after nicking the boxing legend’s hat.
It sparked a mass brawl between Mayweather and the Paul brothers and fueled speculation of a follow-on fight with Jake.

That never materialised, and Jake has since improved to 5-0 as a boxer while Mayweather is still negotiating a February 20 exhibition with Belhasa.
They are in talks to fight on top of the 700ft Burj Al Arab Jumeirah hotel helipad in Dubai.
Mayweather retired as the self-proclaimed ‘best ever’ with an unmatched 50-0 record and world titles in FIVE weights.
Whereas Belhasa has just ONE YEAR and two celebrity bouts worth of boxing experience, beating Anas Elshayib and Ajmal Khan.
He watched as Nasukawa was taken out in a round for taking the fight to Mayweather, whereas a cautious Paul was able to avoid an expected KO.
But Belhasa promised to go all out to score the mother of all upsets and attempt the unthinkable.
He said: “I will box smart in the beginning, but if I have the chance to knock out Floyd Mayweather, I’ll be a superstar overnight.”

EDDIE HEARN has confirmed Anthony Joshua has been offered a step aside fee to allow Tyson Fury to fight Oleksandr Usyk. But the promoter insisted no agreement has been reached to allow Usyk out of his contracted rematch to instead unify the heavyweight belts with Fury.

Hearn told DAZN Boxing: “There has been an offer, there have been several discussions with myself.
“I can’t rule it out, it’s not my job. AJ is the boss. He’s very smart about the plan. He won’t want to do it.”
Joshua, 32, lost to Usyk, 34, in September but his contract included the right to an immediate rematch.
That was exercised but shortly after, talks took place for the Ukrainian to fight Fury, 33, in the Middle East for the undisputed crown.
For the unification to get the green light, AJ and Fury’s WBC mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte, 33, would need to be paid to sit out.
And Hearn admitted more than just financials would need to be guaranteed, such as fighting the winner between Fury and Usyk.

He said: “There’s definitely no deal done for him to step aside. There are conversations, and I’ll have those conversations with him.
“In his mind, he wants to rematch Oleksandr Usyk, and until the time comes that a long-form contract comes to us, and makes sense.
“This is much deeper than a step-aside fee. The money is something that needs to be negotiated. This is the plan.
“All he wants to do is win the heavyweight title back. Right now he has a cast iron opportunity to do that, a rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.
“Any other plan has to be solid, not hopefully you get the winner.
“He’s not out there looking for another plan, looking for a step aside. He will always call the shots. He’s made it clear what that shot looks like.”
Hearn insisted AJ has his eyes only on Usyk and avenging the loss, but admits they must keep an open mind to any other alternatives.
And that could include taking a fee to step aside and organising an interim fight in the meantime, potentially with a new coach.

Hearn explained: “Anthony has never ducked anyone, he won’t want to let one person think he’s ducking that challenge.
“Sometimes you have to think with your head. There is a smart play here somewhere, but Anthony is not about the money.
“If the plan makes sense from a development point of view, working with a new trainer, maybe having a fight first. 
“He’s about legacy. All he’s thinking about is Oleksandr Usyk.”
A report by The Telegraph claimed Joshua was open to accepting a £15m step aside fee – only for the man himself to confirm no such deal was accepted.
Hearn added: “I think that AJ, from his point of view, he’s always been the boss, he’s always been the guy who makes the calls, who makes the decision.
“There’s been a lot of speculation in newspapers that a deal’s done. I think that sometimes that gets his back up a little bit. 
“‘When a deal’s done, you’ll hear it from me.’”

Without a deal, the title fight will go to purse bids, which means whoever offers the highest amount will win the right to stage the bout.
So far, the WBC have delayed the purse bids three times following a request from representatives of both Fury and Whyte.
But as it stands, without a deal by this evening, it will go to purse bids where Fury’s US and UK promoters Bob Arum and Frank Warren will auction against Eddie Hearn.
After Whyte, 33, was officially ordered into his long-awaited world title shot, the WBC announced he would only receive a 20 per cent share of any earnings, if it went to purse bids.
But the fuming contender appealed and argued his ‘interim’ belt warrants up to a 45 per cent.
And all Whyte protested his potential split, Fury, 33, has been in negotiations for an undisputed title decider with Oleksandr Usyk in the Middle East.
