Eddie Hearn contacts Kell Brook over Conor Benn fight and asks why would Brit ‘even think’ about Chris Eubank Jr bout

EDDIE HEARN has already been in contact to convince Kell Brook into fighting Conor Benn and not Chris Eubank Jr. Hearn helped guide Brook’s world title-winning career but the pair have not worked together since 2020.

The promoter failed to deliver the much-anticipated grudge match with Amir Khan, which was instead arranged by Ben Shalom of Boxxer.
Brook, 35, went on to dominate Khan, also 35, in six rounds, and was called out by ringside guests Eubank Jr and Benn.
Hearn said on the DAZN Boxing Show: “The aim for Conor Benn is to become a welterweight world champion.
“As I said to Kell Brook last night, I think Conor Benn is the best welterweight in Britain.
“Now, off the back of that performance from Kell Brook, many will feel that he is.
“Kell Brook against Conor Benn is a brilliant fight, brilliant fight.

“One guy at the back end of his career, one guy a young rising star. Is it too early? Is it too late?
“I said to Kell last night, ‘Why would you even think about fighting Chris Eubank Jr, a middleweight, when you can fight a huge welterweight fight against Conor Benn?’”
Eubank Jr, 32, still wants to settle the score with Brook after the Sheffield man in 2016 leapfrogged him to fight Gennady Golovkin, 39.
But the size difference is already causing a problem between the two, who have been squabbling over a potential catchweight.
Benn, 25, is a star on the rise, knocking over experienced but admittedly declining campaigners.
The son of British boxing legend Nigel had called to fight the winner between Khan and Brook before the Manchester showdown.
And he watched on as Khan bravely battled through half of the fight before finally being stopped.
Hearn – who had claimed he was not going to watch – did sit down and tune in – but was left questioning ‘what if’.
I said to Kell last night, ‘Why would you even think about fighting Chris Eubank Jr, a middleweight, when you can fight a huge welterweight fight against Conor Benn?’Eddie Hearn
He said: “Watching the fight I had a couple of thoughts.
Number one is; this would’ve been such an unbelievable fight in their primes, because it was still exciting because of the rivalry.
“We have to give massive props to Amir Khan because he was absolutely shot to pieces going into that fight.
“He was wobbled from a jab in the first round, his legs were all over the place from the first bell, but he wouldn’t give up.
“Fair play to him, he never stopped trying. And he knew in his heart of hearts, actually he would’ve known in training camp that he was shot to pieces.
“But he never stopped trying to win.”

Tyson Fury sparred with fellow Brit Dillian Whyte a decade ago
And he’s doing away with all social media in a bid to fully focus on battering the Brixton banger in his second title defence.
The 33-year-old said in an Instagram video on Tuesday: “I’m about to go completely off social media for the next eight-and-a-half weeks.
“I’m gonna go into training camp to give Dillian Whyte all the respect in the world that he needs.
“I’ll train for him like he’s Muhammad Ali and Bruce Lee for this camp.”
Fury is brimming with confidence ahead of the domestic dust-up but is refusing to overlook his fellow Brit.
He said: “I’ve never underestimated anybody in my life and I’ll give this man all the respect he deserves coming as the No.1-ranked WBC heavyweight challenger in the world today.”

He said:” “Please don’t phone me, call me, e-mail me, text me or try to contact me in any single way. Because I’m out of bounds until May.
“So have a fantastic time, I will see you all at the press conference and I’ll be training away.
“Please respect my privacy and space. Until the press conference, guys, I shall see you all soon. Peace out.”
Fury’s calm demeanour was a far cry from the videos he released trolling Whyte earlier in the day.
The Wythenshawe warrior said: “Dillian Whyte signed his contract for $8million [£6m], what a surprise, an absolute idiot.
“Should this even be a talking point?
“The man signed for the biggest payday he’s ever going to get in his life.
“Oh my God, my head hurts from all the mind games that Dillian Whyte’s been playing on me.

“Oh my God, I’m so sore, I don’t know whether I’m coming or going. My training camp’s a mess.”
He later vowed: “I’m going to absolutely BUST Dillian Whyte in like a cheap f***ing water balloon.
“You’re useless you big dosser, you useless sausage.”
The Brit duo have shared the ring before in sparring sessions and Whyte claimed he floored his rival on “multiple occasions”.
Whye joined the Gypsy King’s camp first in Manchester ten years ago ahead of the latter’s five-round win over Martin Rogan in 2012.
He joined Fury again a year later on the Belgian-Dutch border for Fury’s doomed scrap with David Haye.

Gennady Golovkin knows ‘how to open Canelo Alvarez up’ amid claims he ‘chased rival away’ from middleweight division

GENNADY GOLOVKIN believes he has the keys to open Canelo Alvarez up – amid claims he chased the Mexican out of the middleweight division. GGG was unfortunate to only draw with Canelo in their 2017 thriller and was beaten narrowly in their rematch a year later.
Canelo Alvarez beat Gennady Golovkin in their rematchCredit: USA TODAY Sports
The trilogy bout has evaded the Kazakh and boxing fans ever since, but the man himself could know the reason why.
Golovkin said on Walking the Floor with Chris Shiflett: “[Someone] shared an opinion that I was probably the one that chased Canelo away from the middleweights of the division.
“I’m not sure whether that is true. But I know Canelo as a fighter, and I have the keys to how to open him up, how to fight against [him].”
Since Canelo’s triumphant 2018 rematch win, he has gone on to become a four-division champion.
He has won titles as high as light-heavyweight and last year reigned as undisputed king at super-middleweight.
But Golovkin, 39, has remained at middleweight, currently holding the IBF belt once vacated by Canelo, 31.

GGG is set to unify it with the WBA version owed by Ryota Murata, 36, in April after their initial bout in December was postponed amid Covid restrictions.
Golovkin has been linked with a trilogy bout against Canelo after his return, something he is keen to explore.
Speaking in November, he added: “I’m certain that he studied me as well and that he has some things in his arsenal as well.
“So definitely there is an interest in the fight. It is an attractive opportunity.
“We know that after the second fight we offered a rematch, but basically he went up and chased other opportunities.
“When this fight might happen isn’t clear. Only time will tell.
“But we know that it’s going to be interesting because of our knowledge of each other as opponents.”

Smiling Kell Brook doesn’t have a mark on him as he relaxes in Canary Islands after six-round battle against Amir Khan

KELL BROOK was all smiles on Monday as he began a well-earned holiday after his stunning victory over rival Amir Khan. The Steel City slugger closed the book on his decade-long feud with his fellow Brit with a sixth-round TKO victory in Manchester last Saturday.

And the former IBF welterweight champ has wasted little time in jetting off for a holiday – flying out to the Canary Islands for some much-needed R&R.
Brook was the picture of happiness as he posed for a snap with MTK Fuertaventura boss Adam Bailey.
The 35-year-old former world champ didn’t look as if he’d gone six hard rounds with his bitter rival as his face showed no signs of damage.
Brook and head coach Dominic Ingle made Fuertaventura their home away from home as they prepared for the long-overdue clash with Khan.
Special K did an eight-weight training camp in the Canaries, which meant he missed Christmas Day with his family and two of his daughters’ birthdays.
Brook had to make do with watching his kids open their presents on Zoom as he prepared for the second-biggest fight of his career.
But the pain of being away from his family was all worth it as he finally closed the book on his rivalry with Khan.

Aaron Chalmers reveals talks with Tommy Fury but still eyes life-changing fight with Jake Paul and Love Islanders

AARON CHALMERS is now in position to set himself up with life-changing fights with stars from the YouTube and reality TV world. Chalmers, 34, has now confirmed his switch from MMA to professional boxing, signing for promotional company Boxxer and Sky Sports.
Former reality TV star Aaron Chalmers, 34, has confirmed his move from MMA to boxing
It is the latest chapter in his prizefighting career, which started in 2017 with an MMA debut and will now carry on into the ring.
But Chalmers almost began his boxing career with a mega-fight against fellow influencer Tommy Fury.
He verbally agreed to face Fury, 22, while out of shape weighing 14st and having never boxed before.
But after meeting with trainer Adam Booth in the following days and revealing his plan, the esteemed boxing brain put a stop to that.
Chalmers told SunSport: “I met Adam a week later, and he said, ‘No chance’. It was not in my favour whatsoever.”
What followed for Chalmers was 17 months under the watchful eye of Booth, who famously led David Haye to a heavyweight world title.

He is set to make his pro boxing debut this April in the middleweight division as the latest high-profile name to sign with Sky Sports.
Chalmers helped headline MMA shows in his home of Newcastle – as well as London and Dublin – with the backing of his Geordie Shore fanbase.
And re-igniting talks with Fury, brother to heavyweight champion Tyson, could be another way of introducing boxing to a new set of eyeballs.
Chalmers said: “I don’t know Tommy, but I know he probably gets as much stick as I do.
“So maybe that’s something we can look at down the line. He’s a big lad, stuff like that, it interests us.
“Because it’s a challenge, it’s a big fight, maybe not for so-called ‘boxing fans’.
“But I’ll bring Geordie Shore fans to the boxing, which is not a bad thing.”

Chalmers is surrounded by elite boxing talent like Michael Conlan, Liam Williams and Josh Kelly at Booth’s Surrey-based gym.
He lives nearby, but that comes at the cost of spending only one weekend every fortnight back home with his partner Talia and their three kids.
But with the likes of YouTuber Jake Paul, 25, bringing millions of pounds to any opponent he faces, it offers Chalmers the ultimate reward.
Chalmers, who has 2million Instagram followers, said: “The sacrifices were made because I knew what could come, I’m looking at how boxing is going.
“Obviously, you’ve got your Jake Pauls and all that, going down that route. If one of them fights come up, that’s my family sorted for life.
“Not that I’m chasing that from the off, but I know with the right noise made, something like that could happen.
“Then the sacrifices would be worth it, as I’d never have to work a day in my life again.”

Paul’s coach BJ Flores is an old friend of Chalmers’ manager Booth, potentially making the fight easier to negotiate.
Love Island winner Jack Fincham, 30, is another celeb with a boxing background, looking to get in the ring again.
But despite the list of big-money bouts on offer to Chalmers, winning a prestigious domestic belt, like the famed English or British titles, could be just as rewarding.
Chalmers said: “By all means, if Adam and I thought in two or three years time, I was ready, then 100 per cent I would never shy away from trying to earn a belt.
“For someone who started boxing at 33 years old I would f***ing love to retire with a British or English title.
“For me that is a big, big step, but we’ll see. Along with those fights, you’ve also got Jack Fincham, and other fighters in boxing we can look at.
“I’m just excited, I’m so glad it’s been announced.”

Whyte has been the mandatory challenger for the belt for a number of years but only had until 6am today to sign the deal after Fury’s co-promoter Frank Warren won the purse bids.
The Londoner was unhappy that he was entitled to only 20 per cent of the fight purse and wanted to renegotiate for a larger chunk.
But now the champ has claimed the challenger has agreed to forge ahead to set-up the all-British showdown.
In an Instagram story Fury posted earlier, he taunted his rival and said: “Oh my God. Dillian Whyte’s signed his contract for 8million dollars. What a surprise!
“An absolute idiot. Should this even be a talking point? The man signed, for the biggest pay-day he’s ever going to get in his life.
“Oh my God, my head hurts from all the mind-games that Dillian Whyte’s been playing on me.

“Oh my God. I’m so sore. I don’t know whether I’m coming or going. My training camp’s a mess.”
Fury would hit the gym later, and as he enjoyed a run next to fellow heavyweight Parker, he posted another message to Whyte.
He said: “I’m going to absolutely bust Dillian Whyte like a cheap f*****g water balloon and then when I finish with him, Joe Parker’s going to set about him because you’re useless, you big dosser. You useless sausage.”
The bout will reportedly be on April 23 at Wembley Stadium and will be Fury’s second title defence after he retained it in his first by knocking out Deontay Wilder last October in their trilogy fight.
The Gypsy King last fought on UK soil when outpointing Francesco Pianeta at Belfast’s Windsor Park in August 2018.
Meanwhile Whyte has remained quiet so far despite Fury’s barbs and has made no official announcement on the fight except for posting a workout image earlier captioned with ‘work’.
He was last in the ring 11 months ago when he avenged his shock defeat to Russian veteran Alexander Povetkin in Gibraltar.

And the Brixton Body Snatcher took to social media hours after sending his contract to the WBC to show he’s already hard at work for the bout.
On Tuesday afternoon, Whyte posted a video of himself dripping with sweat following an intense workout to his Instagram story.
‘Work’ was emblazoned across the video, in which the interim WBC heavyweight champ sang: “Ain’t no sunshine when she goes away.”
Fury, 33, reacted to the news of Whyte putting pen to paper in a series of Instagram videos on Tuesday morning.

Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte will finally settle their feud on April 23
“The man signed for the biggest pay day he’s ever going to get in his life.
“Oh my God, my head hurts from all the mind games that Dillian Whyte’s been playing on me.
“Oh my God, I’m so sore, I don’t know whether I’m coming or going. My training camp’s a mess.”
Whyte waited until the eleventh hour to return his contract to the WBC as he was irate with the purse spilt in Fury’s favour.
Gypsy King Fury is set to take home 80 per cent of the £30.6million purse – meaning the defending champ will pocket £24m.
Whyte, meanwhile, will take home £6m for his first undisputed world title fight.
SunSport understands a press conference for the fight is set to take place on Wednesday.

Former unified heavyweight king Fury is brimming with confidence ahead of his long-awaited showdown with Whyte, who he’s vowed to ‘bust’ like a balloon.
He said: “I’m going to absolutely BUST Dillian Whyte in like a cheap f***ing water balloon.
Last year Whyte said: “Well, me and Tyson Fury sparred and I bashed him about and dropped him on multiple occasions. Simple as that.”

Whyte will be guaranteed £6m for turning up to face 6ft 9in Fury and if he wins he’ll see his pay increased to £9m.
Despite being unsatisfied with the purse split being 80/20 in the Gypsy King’s favour, Whyte has agreed to his shot at the big time and the chance to hand Fury his first ever defeat.
And he has every confidence he can become the first man to beat Fury after allegedly flooring him already.
Speaking during a previous appearance on The Boxing Show on Sky Sports News, he said: “He’s the one that come out and said he beat me up in the gym and stuff like that. I can tell you now, that didn’t happen.
“I don’t like telling sparring stories, but people in the game know. They know about me.
“Well, me and Tyson Fury sparred and I bashed him about and dropped him on multiple occasions. Simple as that.

“If I was such an easy fight, why is he not in any rush to fight me? He said before beating Wilder, ‘When I beat Wilder, I’m going to give Dillian Whyte his title shot.’ He just talks rubbish. This is war, let’s go.”
Whyte has also claimed that Fury refused to a mandated fight against him for the WBC diamond belt.
The Body Snatcher added: “It makes me angry and it frustrates me because Tyson Fury refused to fight me in a mandated fight for the WBC diamond belt.
“And they took my mandatory position away and gave it to Tyson Fury after he fought Otto Wallin who was ranked around 1,000,000 in the world.
“It’s a joke, how can he fight Tom Schwarz and Otto Wallin and then be the WBC mandatory contender after I have been beating top-ten guys back-to-back?”
However, Fury seems to have a different recollection of events between him and Whyte and called the Londoner out as a liar.
He told BT Sport: “Dillian Whyte is a bum, untrue. Dillian Whyte couldn’t drop his granny, never mind the ‘Gypsy King.
“Who has Dillian Whyte ever dropped, Lucas Browne…please. Who else, who has he ever dropped?
“I’ve never seen him drop anyone.
“He even had to cheat Dereck Chisora out of a fight, grabbing him and holding him because Eddie Hearn told him to. What a bum…useless!” More
