AMIR KHAN’S wife Faryal Makhdoom has fuelled retirement talk with an emotional message after defeat to Kell Brook. The British boxing legend, who won silver at the 2004 Olympics at just 17, was dominated over six rounds by Brook.

Khan himself hinted at retiring right after the fight, and his wife’s latest social media post is another indicator it is all over for the Bolton hero.
Faryal wrote: “Thank you King Khan for all the excitement you brought to the sport of boxing.
“Without you British boxing wouldn’t be the same. You inspire us all.”
Khan, who has been married to Faryal since 2013, is a former unified world champion.
He also made a name for himself Stateside with several marquee wins across the pond.
But in possibly the most important one of his career, he conceded bragging rights for life to arch rival Brook.

Afterwards, Khan, 35, admitted: “I need to sit down with my family, but it is more towards the end of my career.
“The love of the sport isn’t there any more. That is a sign for me that I should maybe be calling it a day.”
He added: “No excuses the better man won and he boxed out of his skin I have to say.
“I didn’t expect that from him, especially from the fights I have seen before.
“No disrespect to Kell, he put on a great performance today and he came out to win.
“At the end of the day we have rivalries but as I say after I punch them we can be friends.
“He put a great performance on and did everything he needed to. He was the best man tonight. I had a great, great training camp, but I just couldn’t get going.
“I was missing quite a lot. Kell was on his A-game, all respect goes out to him.”

YOUTUBE star KSI is aiming to make a boxing return ‘later this year’ or in early 2023 – his first fight since rematching Logan Paul. The British celebrity, also a chart-topping rapper, drew in a boxing exhibition with Paul, 26, in 2018.

The pair then controversially turned professional a year later for a rematch which KSI, 28 and also known as JJ, won by split-decision.
The rivals have now turned business partners by launching a drink together, the latest venture in KSI’s hectic schedule.
That busy schedule is largely to blame for the former gamer’s absence in the ring, but according to one of his coaches Leon Wills, a comeback is being eyed.
Wills told GiveMeSport: “JJ’s told me that he’s looking to fight either later this year or early next year. That’s what he said.
“But, it’s just time. He’s a top boy in whatever he does; in music, he’s a top artist, in YouTube, he’s a top YouTuber.
“Now he’s got a drink company with Logan, it’s hard to find the time.
“So, if he can put that all aside and train boxing and focus on boxing, then 100 per cent.”

After KSI’s rematch win over Logan, younger brother Jake, 25, called for a grudge match.
Since then, the American has gone 5-0 without yet fighting KSI, last knocking out ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley, 39.
But KSI’s brother Deji – beaten by Jake in a 2018 exhibition – backed his sibling to silence their rival once and for all.
He told the The W.A.D.E. Concept: “I do believe the fight will happen, 100 per cent, it’s just that JJ is busy with so much. Honestly.
“But if it comes down to it, JJ versus Jake Paul, the thing is with JJ he has that heart and that inner-dog.
“And those two things you can’t teach. So, I believe JJ will actually clean the floor with Jake Paul.
“JJ will turn it into a dog fight, and Jake Paul won’t know what to do. And then boom from, Jake Paul will get caught.”

TOTTENHAM ‘really want’ to stage Anthony Joshua’s rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.Promoter Eddie Hearn has already held talks with Tottenham chief Daniel Levy about staging the fight and says he would ‘love’ to use the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium again.

It comes as Usyk and his manager touched down in the UK to discuss the venue for the rematch – which is set for May or June.
Usyk was last in Britain when he dethroned AJ of the WBA, IBF and WBO unified belts at Spurs’ north London home in September.
And after failed talks for an undisputed title decider with Tyson Fury, the Ukrainian is now left to rematch Joshua.
Hearn has already held talks for a mega-money site deal in the Middle East.
But with Usyk returning to the scene of the crime for negotiations, Joshua could be set to have home advanatage once again.
Hearn told DAZN: “I’ve just come back from the Middle East.

“We’ve had numerous meetings with different countries in the Middle East to stage that fight.
“Had a call with Daniel Levy from Tottenham which was where the first fight was at, they really want to bring the rematch back there, I love the idea of that as well.
“Egis Klymas and Oleksandr Usyk are actually in the UK this week so we’re going to sit down with them and just talk through everything.”
Joshua, 32, immediately invoked his right to a rematch with Usyk, 35, after his 12-round loss last year.
But at the same time, Saudi backers were fronting cash and talks for Fury, 33, to step in and unify all the belts instead.
Negotiations went down to the wire, but ultimately a step-aside deal for AJ collapsed, meaning he will instead fight Usyk.
Meanwhile, Fury will proceed in his WBC mandatory title defence against Dillian Whyte, 33, on April 23, likely at Wembley.
The undisputed talks meant AJ was left in the lurch and as a result, means his rematch with Usyk could be backdated as far as June.
Hearn said: “We’re getting to a stage now where we’re going to start thinking about securing a date which will be the end of May or June.
“There’s nothing that’s going to stop Anthony Joshua from taking that fight.”
