‘That would excite me’ – Jake Paul demands £26m to make MMA debut and says fight with UFC legend Khabib sells 2m PPVs

JAKE PAUL will demand £26million to debut in MMA – and said a fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov would sell 2million pay-per-views. The YouTuber-turned prizefighting star has flirted with a switch to the cage recently, amid an ongoing feud with UFC president Dana White.

Nurmagomedov claimed his Eagle Fighting Championship promotion sent Paul and offer.
But the man himself denied receiving a deal and named his price to switch fighting codes.
Paul said on the MMA Hour: “Khabib said, ‘We offered him a deal’ – it’s not true.
“They never offered me anything. Eagle FC has never even done an event.
“Not to hate on anything they’re doing but I would need more than what I make in boxing to risk going into MMA right now.
“People would have to come 25, 35million dollars (£26m) to just start the conversation with me.”

Paul, who made £30m for his three fight in 2021, admitted UFC legend Khabib would entice him over to MMA.
He said: “I would fight Khabib in MMA if they wanted to make that offer.
“Cos’ that would be exciting. That would excite me, especially if I had more time to train.
“That would be a massive fight. Probably a million, 2million pay-per-view buys and all I would have to do is work on my wrestling skills.
“Cos’ I could outstrike him standing up.”
Khabib, 33, in 2020 retired from the UFC at 29-0, following his one and only fight following the death of his father and mentor Abdulmanap.
Meanwhile Paul, 25, is 5-0 as a boxer, most recently knocking out Tyron Woodley, 39, in December.
He initially beat Woodley in August on points, but rematched the ex-UFC champion on short notice after Tommy Fury, 22, pulled out.
He said: “I would fight Khabib in MMA if they wanted to make that offer… that would be exciting. That would excite me, especially if I had more time to train.Jake Paul
It followed from prior KO’s over YouTuber ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA player Nate Robinson, 37, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 37.
But Paul is still yet to fight an opponent with prior professional boxing experience.
Despite the criticism of opposition, he named only former middleweight world champ Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, 35, as a rival who makes financial sense.
Paul said: “There’s really no boxers who have a big enough name to make it an interesting enough event that are really near my weight class or experience level.
“It would basically be like fighting for the world title would be the only fight that would sell and I don’t even know who the cruiserweight champion is.
“I think Canelo was supposed to fight but it just doesn’t make any sense. It’s my sixth fight and this guy’s a world champion.
“So nobody really has a big enough name in the boxing world than maybe Chavez Jr.”

Ortiz, 23, told SunSport: “It’s a fight that I need to have, I need to have one of those fights that’s tricky.
“Not every fight is going to be a war, I think that this is a fight I need for my experience.
“I want to get better and better after each and every fight.”
Ortiz stands as one of the most destructive punchers in the sport right now, but admitted there is no secret remedy to his explosive power.

He said: “I just try and throw my punches as accurate as possible, and with meaning, that’s basically it.
“I don’t look for it at all, if I do happen to stun the guy or hurt them, then yeah I’ll look for opportunities to finish them off.
“But most of the time I’m just trying to get some good punches in, some good combinations in and I get hit myself.”
Ortiz’s heavy-hands and undefeated record leaves a little line of opponents queuing up to face him – a problem he accepts and acknowledges.
He said: “I wouldn’t say ‘avoided’ – maybe I’m too much of a risk right now with little reward. I don’t have a belt, they have a belt.
“There’s a whole lot of stuff that could go into play and happen.”
Ortiz knows a world title shot would not be given, but rather earned. That is why he is currently ranked No1 in the WBC and WBO.
It places him as the No1 contender for belts held by rivals Errol Spence Jr, 31, and Terence Crawford, 34.

The welterweight is the No1 contender in the WBC and WBO
Ortiz hitting the heavy bag in training
So if Ortiz is ordered into facing either of the pound-for-pound stars, he would have achieved it ‘the hard way’.
He continued: “It feels like you’ve earned it.
“If I had to choose to be in the hardest division in boxing – which is probably 147 – then I would have chose it.
“What’s the point of going into an easy division and winning a world title? Because at that point it doesn’t mean anything.”
Ortiz is surrounded by several other hot prospects, equally as talented in the ring as they are building hype on social media.
But the no-nonsense welterweight, trained by his dad Vergil Sr, will only have his hands do the talking, opposed to his thumbs.
Ortiz said: “If I make a name I’d rather do it through boxing and my fights.
“Some people make videos on the internet and all of that stuff, if I’m going to be a big names it’s because of what I do in the ring, not what I do outside.”

‘I don’t see anybody beating him’ – Floyd Mayweather, 44, training likes ‘he is in his 20s’, reveals sparring partner

BOXING legend Floyd Mayweather is still just as agile and as unbeatable as when he was in his twenties ahead of his latest exhibition bout. The former five-weight world champion is just weeks away from a lucrative Dubai exhibition against YouTuber Money Kicks.

Mayweather, 44, hasn’t slipped with his training since his clash with Logan Paul last June, so much so sparring partner J’Hon Ingram reckons the boxing great can still mix it with fighters several years his junior and is quicker than Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.
He told Fight Hype: “It is faster than Tank’s I can tell you that right now. Tank’s is fast but still not as fast as Floyd.
“On their jab they might be equal but Floyd switches his jab up so much so Tank is still not as fast as Floyd.
“I did land on him, I had to throw combinations to land I couldn’t throw any single punches, honestly like four or five.
“His gameplan and his knowledge in the game is unbelievable, he was throwing things I have never seen before. His defence is amazing so I had to throw big punches to actually hit him.
“He definitely still lives up to his name. I was thinking because he is a little older now that I would be able to push him.

Mayweather’s clash with Money Kicks – real name Rashed Belhasa – will be staged on the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah’s helipad.
Money Kicks was shocked by Mayweather’s call out, telling Sky Sports: “I never thought I would ever fight Floyd. He is the best fighter ever.
“When I was young, I would collect his ‘The Money Team’ caps.

Inside Floyd Mayweather’s training camp for comeback fight including late-night sessions and sparring undefeated stars

FLOYD MAYWEATHER is secretly rolling back the years with late-night training sessions and sparring undefeated contenders. The boxing legend is back in the gym and preparing for another exhibition comeback bout.

And leading the charge in the camp is his new head coach Gerald Tucker, a former professional who was unbeaten in eight fights.
The two go way back, having competed alongside each other on the USA amateur boxing squad and even lived together years later.
Tucker told SunSport: “It’s like brothers getting back together again, that same bond we had way back in the day.”
Through the years he had a front row seat to witness the magic between Mayweather and his former trainer, uncle Roger, who sadly died in 2020.
And even now, Tucker demands the same rules Roger laid out for his iconic nephew, leaving no room for respite, no matter how gruelling the session.
Tucker said: “We don’t rest in the gym. That’s something that Roger implemented in us since we were kids.

“That’s how I train my fighters still to this day, whether it’s Floyd or anybody else, we don’t rest, we work straight through.
“If it’s going to be a 90-minute workout, or over 100-minutes, we’re going to work straight, we get to rest up after we leave the gym.”
Mayweather, 44, officially retired in 2017 after beating UFC superstar Conor McGregor, 33, in a lucrative and high-profile crossover fight.
But the last time he shared the ring with a recognised boxer was in September 2015 against Andre Berto, now 38.
It was his proposed farewell fight and by that time – Tucker reckons – Mayweather was savouring at least 25 per cent of his efforts in the gym.
He revealed: “I think he stopped training as intense, I want to say around Berto, just from the outside looking in.
“I wasn’t there to say for certain, but I’d say he dropped down to around 60/65, something like that.”

But after the pair linked up in the summer of 2020 to train for an exhibition with YouTuber Logan Paul, it has produced the best of Mayweather.
Tucker admitted: “Since I’ve been around, hearing from people just saying that he’s different and it’s almost like the old days.
“I’m bringing something out of him, waking him up more, and I think he’s up to around 75/80 and every camp it’s going up more and more.
“I think we’ll be around 80/85 real soon and you’ll see a more chiselled Floyd, more ready and looking more like the old him.”
Taking out Irishman McGregor in ten rounds was not the final time fans would see Mayweather in the ring.
He first returned on New Year’s Eve in 2018 and wiped out Japanese featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa, 23, in just one round.
Then last June, under the guidance of Tucker for the first time, Mayweather was taken the distance by vlogger Paul, 26, who weighed TWO STONE more.

Now the five-weight champion is in talks to face another YouTuber in 20-year-old Money Kicks – real name Rashed Belhasa.
Belhasa has had just ONE YEAR and two celebrity boxing bouts worth of experience.
But still Mayweather is grafting in the early hours of the morning and sparring future world title challengers.
Tucker said: “A lot of people who have reached that elite-status level in their careers are the same, they care about their name, their legacy, how they looked each and every time.
“No matter what the circumstances, you’re going to care how you look and be self-satisfied.
“That’s why you never catch him slipping, he’s always working out just in case.
“We call each other on FaceTime between camps and we’ll be on the treadmill or we’ll be outside running, just staying in shape.
“He’s always ready, he’s taking it as seriously as if it was a real fight.”

Whispers coming out of Mayweather’s Las Vegas gym suggest the 50-0 icon is barely losing a step in sparring, against boxers HALF his age.
And Tucker can lay testament to that, tipping Mayweather as an unbeatable force even to this day, over four years retired and turning 45 this month.
He said: “This is a totally unbiased opinion, this is going from what I see in the gym – especially when we were preparing for Logan – he has sparring coming in…
“And they’re undefeated guys, bigger guys, active guys, some of them are like 18-0, or 21-1, still at the start of their careers, and they still can’t lay a glove on Floyd.
“Floyd could still compete at this championship-level right now, still to this day and beat all of those guys.”
Mayweather is yet to confirm his next opponent but did announce he would return of February 20 in Dubai.
Most astonishingly, his comeback is set to commence on top of the Burj Al Hotel’s 700ft HELIPAD.

Tyson Fury taunts ‘b****’ Dillian Whyte for ‘going into hiding’ after finally agreeing world title fight

TYSON FURY blasted Dillian Whyte for ‘going silent’ since their fight announcement and goaded: ‘Come out of hiding’. The British heavyweight rivals were the centre of a record-breaking purse bid ahead of their WBC world title fight.

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren won the rights to stage the domestic grudge match with a huge £30.6million offer.
But Whyte is yet to react following the confirmation of his first world championship fight.
Fury, who has been very vocal, has now sent out a direct message to his mandatory challenger to promise him ‘a good hiding’.
He said in a Twitter video: “Whyte feathers, coward. Where are ya Whyte feathers?
“You wanted your world title shot with [Deontay] Wilder for three years, you never got it.
“You was mandatory for me for three minutes and you got your fight, didn’t you coward? ‘Tyson Fury’s a coward, he don’t want to fight Dillian Whyte’.

“But now you’re getting eight million, which is seven-and-a-half million too much for you, you old dosser. Come out and say something, bum.”
Whyte, 33, was named WBC mandatory for Fury’s title in December, but was left fuming after being handed only a 20 per cent split.
The contender is still set to appeal the decision with an arbitration case believed to take place by March.
A source in the Whyte camp told SunSport: “The fact that the purse bids elicited the two highest purse offers of all times is a testament to Dillian Whyte’s extreme marketability.
“A fact that could and should have led the WBC to give him a 50:50 split under the relevant provision of their own rules and certainly not less than the minimum percentage (80-20) provided there.”
It held up negotiations with Fury and left opposing teams preferring to auction against each other in purse bids opposed to agreeing terms for a fee.

But, Middle Eastern backers were at the same time were fronting cash and talks for the Gypsy King, 33, to instead face Oleksander Usyk.
Usyk, 35, is contracted to a rematch with Anthony Joshua, 32, following his 12-round upset in September.
And it meant AJ and Whyte would have needed separate step-aside deals to allow the Saudi undisputed title decider.
Fees were said to have been agreed until at the ’11th hour’ talks broke down following a disagreement in terms.
Fury’s side claimed Joshua demanded an additional £3.7m while the WBC champ was accused of wanting an interim fight before facing Usyk.
Ultimately, the heavyweight unification collapsed with Joshua now in line to rematch Usyk.
And following Warren’s successful purse bid, Fury is due to fight Whyte, with April 23 in Cardiff the frontrunner to host.

Tyson Fury ‘went berserk’ when Anthony Joshua demanded ‘extra £3.7million’ in step aside money for Usyk rematch

TYSON FURY went absolutely ‘berserk’ when Anthony Joshua asked for more money to allow him to face Oleksandr Usyk.A last-ditch bid to make an undisputed heavyweight title fight between Fury and the undefeated Usyk fell through last week just hours before the WBC champ’s showdown with Dillian Whyte went to purse bids.

Promoter Frank Warren claimed the Saudi showdown collapsed because AJ wanted an extra ‘£3.7million’ to step away from his rematch with Usyk, a demand that sent The Gypsy King up the wall.
In an interview with iFL TV, Warren said: Tyson’s a big man, he can speak for himself. He don’t need me to tell you.
“But that’s what it was. I got a call off him [and] he was going berserk saying, ‘No, forget about it!'”
Warren claims Joshua’s alleged demand for more dosh was ‘the straw that broke the camel’s back’.
He said: “What stop this fight from happening, this deal from happening, was at the last minute was AJ came in and asked for another $5m.
“And Tyson said, ‘Enough is enough. I don’t want to hear anything, I don’t want to talk about it anymore’.

“Everybody worked hard to get it where it was, but when he asked for that extra money; it’s the straw that broke the camel’s back.”
AJ promoter Eddie Hearn claimed desert dust-up between Fury and Usyk broke down as the Brit wanted a warm-up fight before facing the slick southpaw.
But Queensberry Promotions chief Warren has dismissed his Matchroom rival’s claim, saying: “It’s all irrelevant and I don’t particularly care what Eddie Hearn said.
“Eddie Hearn says lots of things and he’s part of the problem why these things don’t get over the line.
Tyson Fury will defend his WBC title against former sparring partner Dillian Whyte in the spring
“A year ago when we were trying to put together a fight between Joshua and Tyson, every week he was saying, ‘It’s done, the contracts are being issued,’ despite the fact we all signed an agreement not to make any statements until it was done.”
SunSport understands Fury’s Battle of Britain with former sparring partner Whyte is slated to take place on April 23, with the Principality Stadium in Cardiff a contender to stage the bout.
Joshua’s high-stakes rematch with Usyk, meanwhile, is currently in the works for May.

LOGAN PAUL has agreed to fight Brazilian comedian and fellow YouTube sensation Whindersson in boxing match. Whindersson – full name real named Whindersson Nunes Batista – called out Paul after drawing with ex-professional boxer Acelino Popo Freitas.

The South American suffered a nasty cut during the bout but nevertheless earned a draw on the judges scorecards after eight rounds.
Responding to the callout, Paul tweeted: “I accept your challenge. Keep training.”
Whindersson, 27, responded: “Let’s do it.”
Nunes has almost 57million followers on Instagram, more than double Paul’s 22m.
After sharing the ring with former super-featherweight champion Freitas, he has now boxed twice before, winning an amateur bout in 2019.
Paul, 26, on the other hand has fought three times before, starting with a 2018 white collar bout against Brit rival KSI, 28.

It ended in a draw, before the pair turned pro a year later with KSI winning via scrappy split-decision.
Paul only returned last June but did so in a shock exhibition against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, 44.
And after eight rounds, Mayweather was unable to score a knockout victory, meaning it technically ended without a winner.
Paul has not fought since, having suffered a hand injury, and later released a drink brand with ex-opponent KSI.
The pair then joked they were ‘retired’ from boxing, but Whindersson callout could make that short lived.

The Gypsy King will fight Dillian Whyte next with his WBC title on the line
Fury seemed relaxed as he walked the streets in the North-West, wearing a tracksuit bearing his famous nickname, topped with a grey beanie hat.
Queensbury Promotions chief Frank Warren won the purse bid for the Battle of Britain on Friday with a whopping £30.6million offer.
And the veteran promoter – along with partner in crime Bob Arum – has pencilled April 23 as the date for the former sparring partners’ domestic dust-up.
A stadium show in the UK is the current plan, with Cardiff’s Principality Stadium the most likely venue as it has a retractable roof.
SunSport, however, understands other venues are also in consideration to host the bout.
WBC king Fury will take a whopping 80 PER CENT of the purse, with mandatory challenger Whyte pocketing a meagre 20 per cent.

That means the already mega-rich Gypsy King will bank a whopping £24.5million while Whyte will pocket a guaranteed £6.1m.
