Paul and Katie Taylor’s promoter Eddie Hearn finalised a deal for April 30 and confirmed Madison Square Garden’s first-ever women’s main event.
And the American social media influencer, who is 5-0 as a boxer, helped both female fighting legends guarantee themselves ‘life-changing’ purses.
Paul, 25, said on The MMA Hour: “They’re getting paid in the seven figures, which is historic.
“It’s never happened for women, guaranteed seven figures, plus pay-per-view. Obviously it’s going to be a massive pay-per-view.
“This is life-changing for both girls and especially I know for Amanda Serrano, because I’ve heard her stories of how much she’s been getting paid since day one.
“That’s what initially sparked my desire to want to help her. How is (a seven-division champion) — you’re getting paid, like, $20,000? This is absurd.”

Taylor, 35, and Serrano, 33, have attempted to fight in the past only to see deals fall through.
But following the confirmation of their eagerly-anticipated New York showdown, Paul made sure to give the fighters the acclaim they deserve.
He said: “I owe all the credit to Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano for being two of the pound-for-pound greatest female fighters to have ever lived.
“They’ve been trying to put this fight on, I think they just needed that extra sauce.
“It’s all our efforts in getting this done and it’s what needed to happen for women’s boxing to progress it forward and get women paid more.
“It’s historic in many ways. I don’t want to take any credit.
“I think Amanda Serrano’s an amazing person and I’m willing to help her in any way possible, whether it’s being a friend or being a manager.
    “I give them the credit.”

The sheer size of Fury meant he couldn’t keep as junior until he was 15Credit: GETTY
And the sheer size of the teenage Gypsy King meant former amateur coach Steve Egan didn’t get to see him in action until he was 16.
Egan told SunSport: He came in 6ft4in, 14 stones when he first came into our gym age 14 in 2002.
“One day I turned to my dad and I said, ‘He’s going to be the heavyweight champion of the world.’
“I told Tyson that he’s going to be the heavyweight champion of the world; he didn’t tell me.
“He loved it the fact that I told him he was going to be that good. He started to believe it. We always had a laugh.
“He didn’t fight in the Juniors because he was too big. He was too big for his age, so I couldn’t get him any fights till he was 16.

Fan favourite Fury is one of the most confident fighters on the planet, but that wasn’t always the case.
Egan recalled: “I remember one time – I think it was his first fight – when we were doing the weigh-ins he wore a red boot and a blue boot. He had two pairs but just it did it for a giggle.
“Yes, we all had a giggle back then too, being funny.
“There were times he doubted himself too, as a lad, when things didn’t go right in the gym sometimes, and he would say, ‘How can I be world champion when I can’t do this.'”
Brother Shane was the cause of a some Fury’s self-doubt, which Egan did his his best to eradicate.
Egan said: “Once when he was sparring his brother Shane, and Shane had done well for once, Tyson was moaning, ‘How am I going to be world champion when I can’t even beat Shane, a novice!’
“I said to him, ‘Shane knows you better than anyone else, you’ve been messing around with Shane ever since you’ve been little boys !
“‘One day he’s going to get the better of you it’s just one of them things. No one else is going to know you like he does.
“‘So, today, it went all right for him he knew where you were coming from.’

“I said, ‘I wish I was as fucking rubbish as you are.'”
Fury, 33, is currently gearing up for a domestic-dust-up with former sparring partner Dillian Whyte.
SunSport understands the pair’s eagerly-anticipated Battle of Britain is slated to take place on April 23, with the Principality Stadium in Cardiff a contender to host the bout.

And beforehand she watched the American legend in action, and was left convinced he is still as unbeatable as ever.
Shields, 26, said: “Floyd’s in great shape. He was sparring a 21-year-old for eight rounds and he wasn’t even always taking breaks between rounds.
“He can still do whatever he wants to do inside that ring. If he wanted to, he’d give all those guys problems at 147 and 154.
“From what I saw, his legs and his motor are still working.”
Mayweather, 44, is due to watch Shields in action against Ema Kozin, 23, on Saturday in Cardiff.
It comes with the former five-weight world champion increasing the intensity of his comeback training.

Ingram told Fight Hype: “His gameplan and his knowledge in the game is unbelievable, he was throwing things I have never seen before.
“His defence is amazing so I had to throw big punches to actually hit him.
“He definitely still lives up to his name. I was thinking because he is a little older now that I would be able to push him.
“But he still moves like he is 20. He punches like he is still in his 20s. His awareness and reactions are still like he is in his 20s.
“Even if he took a real fight right now I don’t see anybody beating him, if you look at a lot of great fighters after they retired it’s a lot different to Floyd.
“He is still training and keeping his boxing IQ up.”

But Mayweather is right about his new venture not being easy, as his team are not actually guaranteed a spot in the Daytona 500.
The team doesn’t have the required charter needed to secure automatic qualification for the race.
Grala will have to earn his spot in the field with 40 teams set to take to the track on race day, and 42 teams hoping to be there.
And after the Daytona 500 the team plans on taking part on at least four more races, but with the hope of taking to the track up to 15 times
William Auchmoody will take on the role of General Manager for Mayweather’s team after personally telling the boxer to get into the sport.
Auchmoody said: “He [Mayweather] loves cars. I met him a couple of years ago and had the conversation, ‘Man, you should check NASCAR out’.
“He started watching it a little bit and next thing you know, I’m in Las Vegas and were hashing out the details of what it would look like to get involved in NASCAR.”

Meanwhile Mayweather’s driver Grala said: “I know Floyd is here to win, and I absolutely feel that everyone involved in this program is capable of making that happen.
“We know we will need some time to grow together as a new organisation, but I couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of building this team from the ground up.”
Mayweather joins Basketball great Michael Jordan and music artist Pitbull as the latest celebrity to launch their own NASCAR team.
Pitbull recently agreed a marketing partnership deal with UFC President Dana White for his own team, Pitbull’s Trackhouse Racing.
Meanwhile Mayweather’s sponsorship comes via sunglasses company Pit Viper. More

Chris Eubank Jr convinced long-distance bromance with Roy Jones Jr will be key to winning brutal Williams grudge match

CHRIS EUBANK JR is SHORE his long-distance bromance with Roy Jones Jr will help him win a brutal domestic dust-up with Liam Williams. Eyebrows were raised during the pandemic when the middleweight son of British ring legend Chris Sr visited the United States to train alongside the pound-for-pound icon.

Eubank and his coach have not had long together in person to trainCredit: Richard Pelham / The Sun
But Brighton slugger Eubank, 32 — who had previously refused to work with a full-time coach — got stuck in Pensacola, Florida, due to the Covid-19 travel regulations.
And a two-week trip turned into an 18-month epiphany.
For Saturday’s Cardiff clash against his bitter rival, Eubank Jr has only had a couple of weeks to work with the four-weight world champ in his underground beachside gym.
But he insists the bond forged and groundwork laid will leave no skimmed stone unturned.
Eubank Jr told SunSport: “I never thought I needed a trainer but I would still visit gyms across America — Las Vegas, San Francisco — or Dubai and learn from different coaches and fighters.
“But something clicked with Roy and our different personalities and lifestyles have meshed very well. I have homes in Brighton and Las Vegas and like things a certain way.

Eubank Jr and Jones Jr have been preparing at the Brit’s Brighton gymCredit: Richard Pelham / The Sun
“So living on Roy’s farm for so long — with roosters, chickens and dogs walking about — was a bit of a shock to the system.
“But when you’re so focused on training, your surroundings don’t really matter.
“I am sure Roy feels unfamiliar with the temperature on Brighton beach in February, compared to his home, but this is business, we have work to do and that is what counts.”
The spiteful bout with Williams — who Eubank Jr has labelled a ‘lowlife, scumbag and cretin’ for verbal blows aimed at him and his family — will be the Hove man’s third alongside trainer Jones.
Neither of the first two 2021 victories earned rave reviews.
Critics even suggested the Brit was now caught between his fan-friendly brawling style and Jones’ unteachable speed and reflex-based boxing.
But Eubank, who believes his monk-like lifestyle guarantees him at least six more years at the top, insists he still has time to learn and he is happy to still have his fight-or-flight instincts to fall back on.
He added: “It’s extremely hard to change your fighting style later in life. The younger you are the easier it is.
“You are easier to mould at a younger age. When you are an experienced fighter it is very hard to change but it can be done, I am doing it right now with Roy.
Jones Jr will be in Eubank’s Jr for a third time on Saturday nightCredit: Richard Pelham / The Sun
“You cannot change a 32-year-old, you just can’t, you can tweak and adjust and learn but your base cannot change. When you get hurt, when it gets tough, that is when your base and fundamentals will always show.”
And Jones agreed that even the most talented mentor in the world cannot teach the most crucial element to a fighter’s armoury.
The 53-year-old said: “You can get any trainer you like — but it does not change who you are.
“Trainers can help build a fighter but they cannot make them fight, every fighter has got to have their own heart.
“I cannot give Chris heart and Adam Booth cannot give it to Liam Williams. But Chris has that already.”
Meanwhile, Liam Williams will not let Eubank Jr’s most savage performance scare him ahead of Saturday’s grudge battle.
The Welshman, 29, stood in Nick Blackwell’s corner in 2016 when his pal was hammered into retirement by Eubank Jr.
That one-sided mauling went ten cruel rounds and left Blackwell with a huge swelling on his eye before he collapsed — needing a medically induced coma and life-saving surgery.
Willams said: “It is obviously very sad. Nick is my friend. But it’s the fight game, it could happen to me.
“I might not even have to be in a fight, I could be sparring tomorrow, it could happen to anyone.
Eubank Jr and Williams are set to go head-to-head in a grudge boutCredit: Reuters
“If you get punched in the head over and over, eventually something is going to go wrong, isn’t it? So you just need to try and avoid that.
“When I turned pro, I knew what I signed up for.
“That’s part of the risk so I’m willing to take that risk. If anything was to happen to me while in the ring, then I’m doing what I love doing. So be it.”
Dad-of-one Williams feels his rival had a leg-up into boxing thanks to his dad Chris Eubank Sr’s success.
He added: “We come from very different worlds.
“I didn’t have any help along the way, I started in the small hall shows. If you work hard, you can get where you want to.”

Probellum will be like Golden Boy ‘times a hundred’ says president Richard Schaefer as 2022 UK plans are laid out

PROBELLUM president Richard Schaefer expects the promotion to become one of the biggest combat sports entities in the world – and he reckons it won’t be too long before they surpass his former baby, Golden Boy.A mere four months after its inception, the self-proclaimed ‘Global Media and Boxing Company’ has made serious progress with its plan to revolutionise the sport with a unique blend of promotional and media content expertise.

In that short time, they’ve struck 25 partnership agreements with some of the leading boxing promoters, signed multiple broadcast agreements around the world and added some big-name fighters to their roster.
And having already laid the foundations to become one of the biggest players in the sport, Schaefer can’t help but see a bright future for the new kids on the block.
He told SunSport: “This is going to be the biggest boxing promotion platform on a global scale that ever existed.
“I built before the biggest promotion business with Golden Boy. But it really wasn’t a global company, it was a US-based company that did some fights in the UK with Ricky Hatton and Amir Khan and so on.
“But this is different. This is not like Golden Boy 2.0, this is like Golden Boy times a hundred. This is like a totally different level of a company.
“I’m just thrilled and excited and really fired up to do this and fired up to give these fighters an opportunity.”

Schafer was confident the all-star team he assembled would hit the ground running, but even he didn’t envisage the success that has come so quickly.
He admitted: “In my wildest dreams, I could not have imagined that we would be where we are today in such a short period of time.
“There has never been, I’m sure, in the history of combat sports any entity which in such a short period has achieved so much and has delivered, in fact over-delivered, on what we set out to do.
“When you look back at what we’ve done, we’ve really over-delivered. And I like that. Because in boxing and so many other places, people over promise and underdeliver.
‘But our slogan, and my personal slogan, is under-promise and overdeliver and that’s exactly what we’ve done.”
The signings of former world champions Regis Prograis, Badou Jack and Team GB stars Pat and Luke McCormack have reverberated around the boxing world and shown that Probellum mean business.
Schaefer said of their acquisitions so far: “Fighters want to be with Probellum. Whether you’re a young fighter or like the McCormack brothers, turning pro, two of the most sought after fighters in the world.
“And out of the promotions in the world, they decide to go with Probellum.
“Or whether you talk about world champions like Nonito Donaire, a Regis Prograis or a Sunny Edwards and anything in between, fighters want to be with Probellum. And that’s the best endorsement you can get.”
Probellum’s early success has seen them up the number of shows they plan to be involved with from 200 per year to 300.

Schafer revealed: “Initially, we were thinking around 200 events per year where the Probellum brand would be involved either as the sole promoter or the co-promoter.
“But that number is now closer to 300 events per year. When I said four months ago that we’re going to have the Probellum brand involved in 200 events around the world, everybody thought I was crazy.
“Because it is such an unbelievable thing to say. And they said, ‘It’s probably typical promoter talk. But again, instead of 200 events, we’re going to be closer to 300.”
One such show Probellum could be involved with is a potential rematch of the 2019 Fight of the Year between unified bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue and Nonito Donaire.
Schaefer said: “That’s the level that Probellum is involved in after four months. And we’re having advanced conversations here in the United States and the same in the UK.
“So we’re very, very excited. I can only just imagine where we’re going to be in a year’s time.”
Establishing a foothold in the UK is one of Probellum’s top priorities this year – with the promotion’s schedule kicking off with a stacked card in Newcastle on March 25.
“We are going to be doing regular events all over the UK,” Schaefer said. “If you look at our UK and Irish stable, it’s quickly becoming the best stable in the sport.
“And again, in a year’s time, I have no doubt that we will have the single best stable in boxing in the UK.
“The UK is an important market for us. It’s one of our key markets, it’s one of the biggest markets in the sport. And I always said that the UK fight fans, there is nobody like them. They’re the best.”
On the stacked Newcastle show, on which Pat McCormack will make his professional debut, Schaefer said: “We’re going to have the best fighters from the northeast part of your country are going to be fighting on that card.
“It’s going to be, I dare to say, the best line-up Newcastle and that region has seen on a single card.
Probellum will stage its first UK event of the year on March 25 – with Lewis Riston headlining the cardCredit: PROBELLUM
“It’s going to be a big night in Newcastle. I’m going to be flying into Newcastle and I’m going to be there promoting guys myself.”
Although Probellum is still very much in its infancy, Schaefer believes the promotion has planted the seeds for a ‘boxing revolution’.
And with big names and hot prospects continuing to ink deals with the promotion which each passing week, one can’t help but feel the outfit will indeed become one of the main players in the fight game.

‘He never wanted to fight me’ – Tommy Fury slams ‘scared’ Jake Paul for refusing to rearrange after injury KO’d fight

TOMMY FURY has labelled bitter rival Jake Paul ‘SCARED’ for not wanting to reschedule their grudge bout. The pair were originally supposed to face off in December, but Fury pulled out after suffering from a broken rib and chest infection.

It led to claims from YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul that Fury had pulled out on purpose because he didn’t want to face him.
But Fury, 22, insists he’s still more than up for the challenge, and the fact that the clash has not been rescheduled as of yet reflects badly on Paul.
TNT taunted Paul, 25, by saying: “This man never wanted to fight me. If he did, we’d have a rescheduled date.
“I’m not going to allow him to use the excuse, ‘Tommy was scared,’ any longer.
“I think we can all agree now that the only person that looks scared is him.”
Fury had called for the pair to put their unbeaten records on the line in March, three months after they were originally scheduled to fight.

But Paul has claimed he now has no interest in getting in the ring with the Brit, brother of Tyson Fury, and instead ordered him to ‘get some clout’ by facing Tyron Woodley.
Woodley stepped in at the eleventh hour to fight Paul after Fury pulled out, but was emphatically knocked out by the outspoken American.
Paul has claimed he now plans to turn his attention to the UFC, in a £26million fight against MMA legend Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Speaking on The MMA Hour about Fury, Paul claimed the Brit has ‘missed his chance’ to fight.
He said: “He’s delusional and he sort of missed his chance and his opportunity.
“I sort of want him to fight Tyron Woodley and see what happens there.
“Because I think Tyron would knock Tommy out, so, I almost want to have them fight.
“Tommy, people only know him because of me, and so I want him to go get some of your own fans, or clout, or go do some other thing.
“Then, maybe we could run it back after that.” More

OLEKSANDR USYK is set to play in a friendly football match on Thursday as talks rumble on over a rematch with Anthony Joshua. The 35-year-old is going to line up for Ukrainian second tier side FC Polissya later this week as the team embark on a winter training camp.

And the unified world heavyweight champion has been working with the rest of the squad as he brushes up on his football skills.
Usyk could be seen getting ready in the changing room, leaping for headers, and taking part in a practice match.
The downtime comes just days after a potential undisputed clash with Tyson Fury appeared to collapse.
Talks were ongoing between Usyk and Fury’s camps about the possibility of both Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte stepping aside to allow the pair to meet for all the belts.
But nothing was ever agreed and purse bids went ahead for Fury’s mandatory defence against Whyte.
The Gypsy King’s promoter Frank Warren won the bid and is now hoping to stage the fight in April.

After talks between Fury and Usyk broke down, Whyte and Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn accused the WBC champion of ducking the Ukrainian.
He told iFL TV: “The reality of the situation is; we would be willing to see a long-form agreement with a plan for AJ.
“But we’re not even at that stage. Tyson Fury had the opportunity to discuss – Fury doesn’t want to fight Usyk, in my opinion.
“Because he had the opportunity to do it through these discussions and really, when it came down to it, he really don’t want to.
“What Fury wants to do is have a little easy one in March, that’s what he really wants to do.
“Now, he’s going to have to fight Dillian Whyte, and by the way, after all of this kerfuffle, he’ll get beat by Dillian Whyte, he’ll get knocked out by Dillian Whyte.”
Meanwhile, the straightforward option for Usyk is now expected to be a rematch against Joshua in the first half of 2022.
Usyk beat the Brit by unanimous decision at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last September.
And if the former undisputed cruiserweight champion can defeat AJ yet again, he is then expected to face the winner of Fury vs Whyte before the end of the year.
The tale of the tape ahead of Usyk’s rematch against Joshua More
