      CAROLINE DUBOIS launched her pro career with a faultless debut with the future lightweight queen dazzling in purple and gold.The 21-year-old starlet made her way to the Cardiff ring to boxing’s trademark tune of Sweet Caroline and the new boxing queen looked totally regal throughout the points win over Vaida Masiokaite.

      The Youth Olympics golden girl missed out on a medal at the summer Tokyo games but is being fast tracked to world title belts this year.
      The opening round of her career flew by with flurries of punches chasing Masiokaite around the ring.
      Dubois was so confident in her young reflexes and footwork that her guard was down by her waist for most of the stanza.
      With women’s rounds still limited to just two minutes, knockouts are rare but Dubois did her absolute best to supply a surprise.
      But veteran Masiokaite, 34, knew how to handle the range of blows that were coming her way in a blur.

      Masiokaite did well to finish the third after a peach of a left hand from the London southpaw dropped her down to her haunches.
      Dubois walked away expecting a count from the referee but Masiokaite never completely hit the deck so the pasting continued once Dubois realised.
      The Brit was guilty of being too eager to please the crowd in the fourth, with her aggressive tactics making her appear clumsy in a couple of flashes.
      But, when she relaxed and picked her shots, she showed off all the promise that has been lighting up gyms since she had to pretend to be a BOY called Colin to get past old-fashioned boxing trainers.
      And the future world champion saw out the remaining rounds peppering the Lithuanian with a range of shots.
      The crowd’s roaring version of Sweet Caroline completely drowned out the prospect’s post-fight interview but we will be hearing a lot more of this sensation very soon.

      And the Gypsy King’s demand for a warm-up bout next month, further delaying AJ’s potential shot at the undisputed crown, canned the complicated multi-fight plan.
      AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn, who also oversees WBC mandatory Dillian Whyte, said: “We don’t trust Fury to turn up to one fight, let alone agree to two, three or four.
      “AJ did not want to step aside and when Fury asked for a March fight he really did not want to step aside.
      “We had to trust Fury to have a fight in March, then Usyk in June, AJ in December, then Dillian.
      “I had to tell AJ that and he could not trust him.”
      Fury insisted the plan was KO’d because AJ wanted a £15million step-aside fee upped to £20m.

      But Hearn says the amount only changed when Team Fury moved the goalposts by asking for the March tune-up.
      Fury and Whyte, 33, are now set to meet in April, followed by 35-year-old Usyk’s Joshua rematch. 
      But Hearn added: “Just based on his track record, I won’t be surprised if Tyson pulls out.
      “Tyson would not fight Usyk without a warm-up fight.

      Born in Market Deeping in 1984, Anna graduated from Leeds University where she achieved a BA Honours degree in music.
      As a result, music and dance are among her hobbies.
      Anna later gained a post-graduate degree in broadcast journalism and pursued a career in the media.
      Anna began her career in radio, before she joined Sky Sports.
      She has also presented Netball, Ice Hockey and F1 shows – where she gained experience on the ‘Midweek Report’.

      And then he warned the rest of Britain’s super-lightweight division that he plans a busy 2022 fighting for the proud family name.
      “He was a tough opponent so I am very pleased to stop him,” he said.
      “I want a busy year with as many fights as possible, so I can really show my progress and improve with every fight.
      “I want to grow as a fighter, I have come through some tough levels now but I always want more.
      “And I think there will be a big fight for me in April.”
      With a handful of family at ringside the 27-year-old Brighton ace kicked off the Cardiff show against the rugged Romanian journeyman.

      The middleweight star, son of boxing legend Chris Eubank, has stated his dad didn’t want him to follow in his footsteps.
      But the Brighton native failed to resist the lure of fighting, as he turned to having tear ups in the street.
      Speaking ahead of his bout against rival Liam Williams at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena on Saturday night, Next Gen commented on how boxing saved him.
      He told FightHub: “To this day there’s a video of me on YouTube street fighting in a car park when I was about 15. And I was doing that like every other week.
      “It didn’t make any sense because I’d live the street life and then I’d go home to a multi-million pound mansion.
      “Then the next day I’d put on my tie and my suit and I’d go to private school. But then after that I went back to the streets… I was like an enforcer, I wasn’t the guy robbing and selling drugs.

      “There were people doing that, but I was the guy – if there were problems with other people outside of the gang – I would go and help.
      “I didn’t care about the gang, I just like to be able to go and fight, it was just in me. Once I found boxing, I just fell in love with it.”
      He added: “I guess I just had this fire in me. I played all sports, I was just heavily into competing.
      “My father stopped me from boxing for a couple of years, he didn’t think I’d be tough enough. He didn’t know the stuff I was doing outside of school.
      “It got to the point where I was just constantly saying, ‘Listen, let me box, let me go to the gym, let me do this, let me try this.’
      “Eventually he gave in. I knew that I wanted to be a fighter because all these sports I’d been playing for years as a kid, once I started boxing I cut all of it out.
      “Everything just seemed boring for me and this was the ultimate form of competition.
      “I knew that it was good for me because it was channelling all this energy that I was using in negative ways, getting into fights and stuff like that.
      “After you’ve had a long two/three hour gym session getting your a*** kicked by people more experienced than you, you don’t wanna go running around on the street looking for more trouble.
      “I started to see my attitude change as a person, I didn’t want to go out and cause trouble any more.
      “It changed my life, it changed the path that I was going down. So I have a lot to thank for the sport of boxing.”

      JAKE PAUL ‘would love’ to fight UFC legend Anderson Silva and revealed he got an autograph from his ‘idol’ aged 12. Silva has been touted as a potential next boxing opponent for the YouTuber-turned prizefighter, who has already beaten two ex-UFC stars in his 5-0 career.

      And Paul himself is on board while opening up about the first time he met the the Brazilian icon.
      He told MMA Fighting: “Yes, definitely, I would love that fight. Interesting story, I think he was the first celebrity I ever saw.
      “Right when MMA was blowing up, my dad was a super big fan and we went to this local MMA event and they must have paid Anderson Silva to come because it was in Ohio so I don’t know why he would have been there.
      “But I actually asked for his autograph and we took a picture with him. I’m maybe like 12 years old but I think he was the first celebrity that I met.
      “So it would be fun to bring it back full circle and fight someone who was one of my first idols.”
      Silva, 46, left the UFC in 2020 following three straight losses and chose to instead pursue boxing, having already had a 1-1 record in the ring.
