TYSON FURY has slammed the judges for ‘destroying Jack Catterall’s life’ after they handed Josh Taylor a controversial split decision win in their undisputed title fight.Catterall produced a career-best performance in Scotland on February 26 as he outfought Taylor and looked set to have his hand raised in one of the biggest shocks in recent years.

But it was Taylor who retained all four world championship belts in the 140lb division as he secured a 114-111, 113-112, 112-113 victory.
This led to widespread anger from boxing fans and the British Boxing Board of Control have now opened an investigation into the scoring.
And WBC heavyweight champion Fury is the latest fighter to come out and slam the decision.
Speaking to BT Sport Boxing, he said: “I think the judging these days is a disgrace.
“I think they need a good kick in the arse for it.
“They can’t change the decision now and they’ve absolutely destroyed Jack Catterall’s life and career. It’s disgraceful.”

In the wake of the decision, Fury’s promote Frank Warren revealed he doesn’t want any British judges to be a part of The Gypsy King’s clash with Dillian Whyte on April 23.
He said: “This has to stop. It was terrible for Jack and is killing the credibility of boxing.
“If they were football referees they would be downgraded but what happens – they move on to the next show without any accountability.
“I do not want British officials for Fury-Whyte.”
And Fury concurred with his promoter’s opinion that he wants no British judges involved.
The heavyweight champion told talkSPORT: “I’ve seen an article recently where Frank Warren said there would be no British judges for this fight and I reiterate that as well.
“Those words echo around my training camp. We don’t want British judges for this fight. We want proper, experienced, judges who will do the right thing.

“If Dillian Whyte beats me, give him the decision. Do not try and rob anybody of this fight, give the man the decision, give the man what he deserves.
“If I win, do the same for me. In boxing, these fighters don’t want any gifts, they don’t want robbery decisions.
“People want to win if they win, and lose if they lose. In the game, we’ve seen so many boxing decisions go the opposite way and I’m just thinking ‘what are they watching’.” More

JACK CATTERALL has been offered a rematch by Josh Taylor’s team after their controversial fight – but it could take over a YEAR to happen. Catterall was beaten by Taylor in Scotland, falling victim to questionable scorecards which resulted in a disputed split-decision loss.

It saw the challenger, in the eyes of many, robbed of the chance to become one of only six other men to win undisputed world titles.
Taylor, 31, soon announced he would move up to welterweight, distancing himself from a rematch with Catterall, 28.
Todd DuBoef, president of the Top Rank stable that promotes Taylor, confirmed a second fight is possible, but likely not right away.
DuBoef told Sky Sports: “Any reaction now is premature. It has to be digested by everybody.
“And you know, we’ll sit tight and wait to hear what his direction is and what they feel is the best thing.
“Obviously, obviously when there are close decisions, there is always an outcry for a rematch. Always an outcry.

“And it may not happen now, but it could happen in two fights, it could happen in a year, or it could happen next.
“Let’s just let it play out naturally.”
The British Boxing Board of Control are currently investigating the scoring of the bout, which was heavily criticised.
But DuBoef, who was ringside in Glasgow, dismissed any allegations of corruption.
He said: “It was a close fight and a very difficult fight to score. I really believe that what we need to do is to modernise boxing.
“We haven’t moved forward. The fact we have subjective scoring means we have to get better.
“We have to apply further education courses – we need to know that everybody is taught the same way on how to score a round.
“We have to notify both camps on what is expected from you, from the judges on this night in the UK – which could vary if you were taught in New York, or California or Australia.
“But any implications of chicanery, I dismiss them.”

YOUTUBE star KSI is eyeing a return to boxing – and could have some A-list opponents waiting to fight him. The British celebrity twice fought online rival Logan Paul, firstly drawing a 2018 exhibition bout.

But KSI – real name Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji – won the rematch a year later by scrappy split-decision when they turned professional.
The pair have since becoming business partners, launching a drink together, seemingly ruling out a trilogy bout.
But after KSI’s coach revealed a boxing comeback is planned for late this year or early 2023, SunSport takes a look at some of his options.
Jake Paul
Fighting little brother Jake, 25, was the logical next move for KSI, 28, after beating Logan.
But the coronavirus pandemic got in the way of things, forcing KSI to focus on his music career.
He has not returned to boxing since while Jake has become a 5-0 pay-per-view attraction in the ring.
It means KSI jumping straight back in with the American is unlikely but the grudge match remains on the table down the line.

Austin McBroom
McBroom, 29, is a social media personalty from the US and last year won a celebrity fight against TikToker Bryce Hall, 22.
Afterwards he called out KSI and the duo then entered talks to fight, although it came to nothing.
McBroom has since said he will box ‘AnEsonGib’ but wants a guaranteed shot at KSI afterwards.
With McBroom having only one fight under his belt it provides KSI with the ideal opponent to face on his return.

Tommy Fury
Tyson Fury’s younger brother is 7-0 in his own career and was set to fight KSI’s rival Jake.
But the 2019 Love Islander, 22, pulled out of their December headliner with a broken rib and chest infection.
Tommy has called out KSI before and once claimed they were on ‘quite an even playing field’.
But KSI has far less boxing experience making it an unfair match-up and far less likely to happen.

Bryce Hall
Hall was convincingly beaten by McBroom but had relentlessly called out KSI beforehand.
So with a score to settle it means a fight between the two cannot be ruled out.
Hall tweeted: “This year I’m stepping back in ring, only W’s this year.”
He also teased a fight with KSI’s brother ‘Deji’ and if he were to win that, it perfectly sets up a showdown with the older sibling.

Dillon Danis
Danis, 28, is an unbeaten 2-0 MMA fighter but is widely recognised as Conor McGregor’s training partner.
But he has not fought since 2019 and has become more well-known as a Twitter troll.
Danis has chased a fight with Jake Paul but to no avail and recently turned his attention to KSI.
He posted on Instagram: “I’ll put KSI on his ass in 1.”

ANTHONY JOSHUA could accept an interim bout next with his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk in doubt. The pair are contracted to a second fight this year following Usyk’s 12-round upset at Tottenham last September.

But the unbeaten two-weight champion is currently defending Ukraine amid the invasion of Vladimir Putin’s Russia.
Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed finding a tune-up opponent for Joshua, 32, is not out of the question if Usyk, 34, is otherwise out of the picture.
So here SunSport runs down five candidates suitable for the job.
Otto Wallin
If AJ is to stay busy he will likely be scouting for a southpaw opponent to help him best prepare for Usyk.
Wallin’s profile is big enough to help Joshua sell tickets and pay-per-views – after he gave Tyson Fury 47 stitches in 2019.
He was deemed a low-enough risk for Dillian Whyte, 33, to face last October while the Brit already had a guaranteed shot at Fury, 33.
And although it fell through, Joshua has formerly sparred and boxed lefty Wallin in the amateurs, giving him enough knowledge of the Swede.

Luis Ortiz
The Cuban was once the most feared southpaw in the division, but two losses to Deontay Wilder appear to have taken its toll.
Ortiz, now 42, most recently beat Charles Martin, 35, in January but had to pick himself off the canvas to do so.
He still has massive name value and has an equally tricky style to Usyk.
Joshua came close to fighting Ortiz in 2019 but the contender instead opted to chase a rematch with Wilder.

Zhilei Zhang
At 6ft 6in, the Chinese heavyweight does not cut the same frame as Usyk but is at least a southpaw.
He is also signed to Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing stable, making negotiations easier.
Not only that, Joshua has history with Zhang dating back to their amateur days, winning in the quarter-finals of the 2012 London Olympics.
Zhang, 38, is unbeaten as a professional but in February 2021 drew to Jerry Forrest, giving AJ the confidence the task would not be too risky.

Jerry Forrest
The aforementioned American is the most under the radar of the lot but would certainly offer Joshua some valuable southpaw rounds.
Forrest, 33, has lost to contenders such as Jermaine Franklin, 28, and Carlos Takam, 41, in recent years.
But his two most recent fights were draws, against Zhang and then the highly-touted Michael Hunter, 33.
Joshua could expect a tough enough runout against Forrest, who has only ever been stopped once.

Deontay Wilder
The Bronze Bomber is quite possibly the only big fight Joshua and Hearn would consider taking before a rematch with Usyk.
Their history, opposing styles and recent losses makes the clash a box office blockbuster and arguably as big as anything involving Usyk.
The ex-WBC champ at 36 is yet to confirm whether he will retire or not but it appears clear if he returns it will only be for big fights.
AJ and Wilder could sellout just about any stadium or arena worldwide and would be the biggest fight for either of them to take at this point.

Smith has been touted as the man to replace Hearn when the promoter packs it in, but the son of Barry proved his is still the boss.
Hearn landed a perfect left hook to Smith’s stomach which floored the Matchroom CEO.
But credit to Smith – who has been with Hearn since he was 14 – as he got to his feet and boxed on.
Perhaps Hearn always had the upper hand in the spar, after all he boxed three times for Billericay Amateur Boxing Club as a teen, winning them all.
He was introduced as ‘Eddie Hills’ as his famous dad feared their surname would cause opponents to ‘take liberties’.
But in a 2017 interview with Boxing Social, the future boxing matchmaker admitted he was not cut out to be a fighter after all.
