Errol Spence Jr has ‘a second chance in life’ and third in boxing after life-threatening car crash and horror eye injury

ERROL SPENCE JR admitted he has been given ‘a second chance in life’… and third in boxing. The unbeaten American escaped death in October 2019 when his Ferrari flipped following a high-speed crash.

Spence, 32, would make a miraculous recovery to fight one year later, beating Danny Garcia, 33, on points in December 2020.
He then signed to fight boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, 43, last August but was forced to pull out after suffering an eye injury in training.
Again, the welterweight champion recovered after surgery and now faces Yordenis Ugas, 35, the Cuban who replaced him against Pacquiao.
Spence will defend his WBC and IBF titles against Ugas’ WBA version on April 16 at the 80,000-seater AT&T Stadium in his home of Texas.
He said: “It feels good to be back. It’s a blessing to be in this position.
“Most people take life for granted until they’re given a second chance, and I’ve been given a second chance in life and a third chance in boxing.”

Ugas went on to retire Pacquiao and put himself in line to welcome Spence back to the ring.
The US pound-for-pound star has been training for half a year now as he prepares to again return to the ring after overcoming adversity.
Spence said: “This is going to be a great fight. Ugas always comes to compete.
“With all respect to Pacquiao, I’m a way different fighter than Pacquiao and at this point I’m a better fighter.
“Ugas is a real warrior, but I’m hungry too. I’m not letting this opportunity pass by me.
“I’ve been feeling strong. My nutritionist that I added for this camp has been the missing ingredient.
“I was struggling to make weight and I think that’s the reason that I haven’t gotten a stoppage in my last few fights.
“This is the first camp in a while that I haven’t put the sauna suit on. It’s been a breath of fresh air. I’m really having fun in this training camp.”

Canelo Alvarez blasts rivals for wanting ‘payday’ and urges them to ‘fight each other’ as he vows to face the winner

A trilogy bout against bitter rival Gennady Golovkin is then set to follow in September if he beats the Russian light-heavyweight champion.
It leaves the likes of Jermall Charlo, 31, David Benavidez, 25, Demetrius Andrade, 34, and others missing out on the Canelo sweepstake.
But the man himself gave those around him and idea on how to get his attention.
Canelo, 31, told DAZN: “I’m busy this year. I know they want that payday, but I really don’t understand why they don’t fight each other.
“Fight each other and then I’ll fight then winner of all of them – I don’t f***ing care.”
Free agent Canelo was offered a two-fight deal by Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions to fight unbeaten pair Charlo and Benavidez.

But he instead chose Eddie Hearn’s proposal which starts with Bivol, 31, for the WBA title and then a trilogy bout with Golovkin, 39.
GGG must also first beat Ryota Murata, 36, in a middleweight unification on April 9 in Japan.
But the Kazakh has verbally agreed to renew his rivalry later on in the year with Canelo, who admitted the bad blood is real.
He said: “Yeah. He talks a lot of s***. He talked a lot of things, but we’re gonna see.
“First things first, right, we need to win May 7th. I’m focused 100 per cent on this fight.
“It’s not an easy fight, it’s a hard fight for me, 100 per cent on this fight and then we’ll talk about that fight.”

Logan Paul ‘figuring out the paycheque’ amid Floyd Mayweather money row and is ‘going for’ boxing legend’s chains

LOGAN PAUL is ‘figuring out the paycheque’ amid his pay row with Floyd Mayweather and is ‘going for’ the boxing legend’s chains. Paul last June faced Mayweather in a shock exhibition bout which went the full eight-round distance.

But the YouTube star has since claimed to have not been fully paid – and has been left to chase it up.
Paul, 26, told TMZ Sport: “We’re figuring out the paycheque.
“I’m going for Floyd’s chains, he got two around his neck, two big ones that I like. Those are the ones that I’m going for.”
The exhibition sold over 1million pay-per-views and Mayweather, 45, boasted of earning $100m (£75m).
But Paul alleged that his purse has not entirely been paid, now nine months on.
He said on the MMA Hour: “I’ve not been paid in full, that is a fact. We’re just trying to collect what is rightfully ours.

‘I’ll fight whoever’ – Anthony Joshua open to Joseph Parker rematch if Oleksandr Usyk delays bout amid Russia invasion

Joshua invoked his right to an immediate rematch, which his promoter Eddie Hearn hoped to set up for May or June.
But that bout is now in serious doubt following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which has seen Usyk bravely take up arms to defend his nation.
Joshua chose to respect the two-weight champion and not comment on whether they will fight next or not.
But the Londoner confirmed he would take a bout in the meantime if Usyk is otherwise occupied with more serious matters.
Joshua told Behind The Gloves: “Me personally? I’ll fight no problem. I’ll fight whatever, no problem.”
New Zealander Parker, 30, beaten by AJ in 2018, has already volunteered to replace Usyk, 35.

Joshua, 32, said: “I’ll smoke him as well. Don’t matter.
“But listen, I’ll fight Joseph Parker. Do you know what it is? My record shows, it’s a fight at the end of the day, what do you want me to do?
“I don’t give a f***, I’ll fight whoever, whenever, it’s only a fight. Do you know what I’m trying to say? So yeah, I’ll fight, 100 per cent.”
After AJ’s defeat to Usyk it emerged he was considering switching up his coaching team.
And he has now confirmed Angel Fernandez, formerly his assistant trainer, will be his ‘main’ cornerman.
Joshua said: “I’m working with Angel Fernandez right now. In London and he’s been in my camp for the last three years anyway.
“He’s been at the last three of my world championship fights.”

We already know Conor can’t finish DiazRight fight to make is Masvidoll vs Macgregor. 50/50 fight, ends in KO. Both can throw and both have weak chins— Jake Paul (@jakepaul) March 6, 2022

The welterweight contender signed a lucrative new UFC contract before the grudge match but his next fight now remains unclear.
YouTuber Paul named McGregor – who was knocked out by Dustin Poirier last year – as the perfect opponent.
It comes amid rumours the Irishman, 33, is in talks for a trilogy bout against Nate Diaz, 36.
Paul, 25, tweeted: “We already know Conor can’t finish Diaz. Right fight to make is Masvidoll vs Macgregor. 50/50 fight, ends in KO.
“Both can throw and both have weak chins.”
Paul, who is 5-0 as a boxer, has called out the two UFC superstars before but looks unlikely to fight either any time soon.

UFC president Dana White admitted he does not know what is next for Masvidal, or Covington, who beat his former friend-turned rival on points.
White said: “I don’t know, that’s a good question. We knew tonight, whoever lost, ‘What would be next?’ and ‘Where would they go?’
“And I don’t know, sitting right here, right now, I don’t know. On either one of them, even Colby, who won.”
Masvidal’s new contract makes him one of the highest-paid UFC fighters currently.
But White revealed they did not have a plan for the American when agreeing the deal.
He said: “We don’t think that far ahead.
“We sign the kid and you never know what the hell – it’s like you guys will ask me every f***ing press conference what’s gonna happen after this?
“I don’t know. I have to see how the fight plays out. What kind of a fight is it, how did it go?
“And then I decide with the team what’s gonna happen next.”

YOUTUBER Deji has broken his silence after defeat to Alex Wassabi and said: ‘The journey ends, when I say it ends’.The Londoner – known for being the brother of KSI – was beaten over five rounds by American Wassabi.

Deji, 25, had twice boxed before in celebrity bouts, losing to Jake Paul, 25, in 2018 and TikToker Vinnie Hacker, 19, last June.
He had vowed to hang up the gloves for good if he suffered defeat to Wassabi, 31.
But it appears Deji is refusing to give up as he spoke out for the first time since going 0-3 in the ring.
He posted on Instagram: “The journey ends, when I say it ends.”
Deji was met with cheers both before and after the loss and told his fans: “If you guys want me to fight again, I’ll show you what I can do.”
He further added in a tweet: “Thank you guys for supporting me and I’m sorry, but nothing will keep me down.”

Wassabi boxed for the first time and confirmed he will fight again.
He said: “I did great. I didn’t know who was going to win at the end. I didn’t realise how tough it was going to be.
“These people love their people and they showed it; I didn’t hear my name once.
“Deji, I just wanted to compete and if it wasn’t for you that dream wouldn’t have come true.
“I want to get back in. I don’t know when the next YouTube event is.”
The pair then shook hands on a rematch, meaning fourth time could be the charm for Deji.

It has motivated the YouTube star to go one further as he confirmed plans to fight again this year.
Logan told TMZ Sport: “I just started training again, bro. I’m a little sweaty. I’ve been training the last four days.
“Hopefully, I have a fight by the end of the year. I gotta one-up my brother dude, he did a bad thing to Tyron Woodley.
“He’s made it very hard to one-up him, but I will do my best.”
Logan, 26, first boxed in 2018 against online rival KSI, 28, drawing with the Brit in a white collar bout.
But the American lost the rematch by scrappy split-decision when they turned professional a year later.

Logan only returned last June but did so in a shock exhibition bout against Floyd Mayweather, 45, which went the eight-round distance.
He has since alleged the boxing legend has not fully paid him – and claimed to be currently chasing it up.
Logan said: “We’re figuring out the paycheque.
“I’m going for Floyd’s chains, he got two around his neck, two big ones that I like. Those are the ones that I’m going for.”
Brother Jake, 25, is now 5-0 as a boxer after knocking out Woodley, 39, four months after initially beating him on points.
It added to KO’s over YouTuber ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA player Nate Robinson, 37, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 37.
The Paul brothers used to tease an unprecedented fight against EACH OTHER – but Logan is ready to put that to bed.
He joked: “Man he does, because he’s a psychopath but I’m grown and I’m mature and I will do no such thing.”

Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin ‘can’t stand each other’ as Eddie Hearn calls trilogy ‘biggest fight in boxing’

CANELO ALVAREZ and Gennady Golovkin ‘can’t stand each other’ as Eddie Hearn called their trilogy ‘the biggest fight in boxing’. The pair controversially drew in 2017 when Canelo was deemed fortunate to walk away without a loss.

But the Mexican superstar emerged victorious in their rematch a year later in another razor thin Las Vegas classic.
Now, four years on and the pair are lined up for a trilogy blockbuster in September, so long as they win their respected interim fights.
Promoter Hearn told FightHype: “I’m telling you now, the build-up to Canelo versus GGG 3 will be unbelievable. They can’t stand each other.
“In the past, they never really wanted to say anything, but now they don’t really care what they say.
“I want both guys to look great as it builds up towards the biggest fight in boxing.”
Canelo, 31, first returns on May 7 in Vegas and will move up to challenge WBA light-heavyweight champ Dmitry Bivol, also 31.
