‘He can have another whooping’ – Kell Brook ready to fight Amir Khan again as rival considers invoking rematch clause

KELL BROOK is ready to give Amir Khan ‘another whooping’ – as it emerged a rematch is being considered. Brook looked to have emphatically ended a near-two decade rivalry after dominating Khan over six rounds.

But the famously hard to negotiate fight included a rematch clause in the contract for the loser.
And amid rumours Khan, 35, is contemplating a rematch, Brook, 35, is more than happy to do it all over again.
Special K told Sky Sports: “If he wants another whooping he can have another whooping.
“It was so one-sided, I don’t know what he can say and come back to the table with.
“If he wants that rematch, I’ll dust them gloves off and do it again.”
Promoter Ben Shalom, the man to have finally agreed the grudge match, revealed Khan is looking to exercise his right to a rematch.

Shalom said: “I think the word on the street is true – Amir Khan, he doesn’t want to call it a day.
“He has spent a lot of time thinking about the fight the past couple of weeks and he feels like he had ten weeks to prepare and Kell Brook had six months.
“So he feels hard done by. I don’t know whether that fight is even possible, but he does have that rematch clause.
“For me, for Kell Brook it’s time to move on, whether it’s to retire or to fight one of the other names mentioned.
“I can’t see it, but Amir is convinced, we will hear what his reasons are in the next few days and we’ll have to take it from there.”
Khan won silver at the 2004 Athens Olympics at the age of just 17 before becoming a unified world champion in the pros.
But his crushing loss to bitter rival Brook appeared to signal the end of a historic and glittering career.
And promoter Shalom agreed now is the right time for the British boxing icon to call it a day.
He said: “Whatever he does, he’s had a great career, just for me it probably was the time to hang up the gloves, but he feels very differently.”

The Gypsy King retained his crown by emphatic knockout back in October last year, with unification against then-champ Anthony Joshua eyed up.
AJ was to ultimately lose his own title defence to Oleksandr Usyk and a rematch has been delayed by Usyk’s decision to fight for Ukraine against Russia.
Fury’s attention has therefore turned to mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte as he puts his belt on the line once again.

Fury said as the fight was announced: “I’m coming home baby. Get ready for the biggest British dust-up since Lennox Lewis vs Frank Bruno. History in the making.”

And it was confirmed that Whyte had signed his side of the deal in the early hours of this morning.
Whyte will earn around £6million for his participation, with Fury set to bank a much meatier £23.5m.

When is Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte?

Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte will take place on Saturday, April 23.
Fury hasn’t fought in the UK since 2018 when he faced Sefer Seferi in Manchester and then Francesco Pianeta in Belfast.
The start time has been CONFIRMED as 10pm UK time – 5pm ET.

    What is the fight venue?

Fury vs Whyte will take place at Wembley Stadium in London.
Fury hasn’t fought in London since a win over Christian Hammer in 2015.
Whyte has never fought at Wembley Stadium before, but is used to competing in London.
The fight is expected to be a 90,000-capacity sell-out event.

Which TV channel and live stream will it be on?
BT Sport Box Office has been CONFIRMED as broadcaster for the fight.
BT wrote in a tweet to confirm the news: “The time for talking is over! After years of back and forth, the heavyweight showdown is on!
The event is likely to cost £24.95, which was the price of Fury’s last two clashes with Deontay Wilder.

    What they said
Tyson Fury has suggested he will retire after his fight with Dillian Whyte, rather than facing the likes of Anthony Joshua or Oleksandr Usky.
The Gypsy King said: “The only thing I can gain is money. So after this fight I’ll have earned over £100million.
“If I can spend that, I don’t deserve any more, do I?
“I know Mike Tyson spent half a billion and Evander Holyfield 400million and all the rest, but I don’t live their big flash lifestyles.
“I live in Morecambe, in Lancashire. It’s cheap there. I don’t have any big habits like I’m gambling tons of money away.
“I don’t do anything. I can never spend the money I’ve got.”
Whyte has previously said: “Wherever they want the fight, whenever they want the fight, I don’t care.
“I’ve been trying to fight him for a long time. I’ve been ready to fight him for a long time.
“I just want to fight him for the world title now.” More

‘It’s about AJ being comfortable’ – Eddie Hearn opens up on Anthony Joshua’s choice to change coach ahead of next fight

EDDIE HEARN revealed Anthony Joshua is ‘comfortable and happy’ after changing his head coach. AJ announced Angel Fernandez – previously his assistant trainer – is now the main man in his corner.

But promoter Hearn did not rule other outsiders entering the team ahead of Joshua’s return this year.
He told iFL TV: “I’m sure there will be some other faces in the camp as well. He’s working well with Angel in Loughborough.
“Angel’s been a big part of the team for quite a few fights, it’s really about AJ being comfortable and happy, and he is in that position.”
Joshua, 32, first brought in Fernandez before beating Andy Ruiz Jr, 32, in their December 2019 rematch.
He has frequently been seen holding pads for the heavyweight superstar, acting as No2 before Rob McCracken.
AJ won gold under Team GB mastermind McCracken and became a two-time unified champion in the professional ranks.

But after his most recent loss to Oleksandr Usyk, 35, in September, Joshua was left considering his coaching team.
And after months of speculation, he confirmed Fernandez will be the man leading the charge.
Joshua said to Behind The Gloves: “I’m working with Angel Fernandez right now.
“In London and he’s been in my camp for the last three years anyway. He’s been at the last three of my world championship fights.”

Six opponents Anthony Joshua could face NEXT as Usyk rematch set to be delayed while Ukrainian champ fights Russia

ANTHONY JOSHUA could accept an interim bout next with his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk in doubt. The pair are contracted to a second fight this year following Usyk’s 12-round upset at Tottenham last September.

But the unbeaten two-weight champion is currently defending Ukraine amid the invasion of Vladimir Putin’s Russia.
Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed finding a tune-up opponent for Joshua, 32, is not out of the question if Usyk, 34, is otherwise out of the picture.
So here SunSport runs down six candidates suitable for the job.
    Otto Wallin
If AJ is to stay busy he will likely be scouting for a southpaw opponent to help him best prepare for Usyk.
Wallin’s profile is big enough to help Joshua sell tickets and pay-per-views – after he gave Tyson Fury 47 stitches in 2019.
He was deemed a low-enough risk for Dillian Whyte, 33, to face last October while the Brit already had a guaranteed shot at Fury, 33.
And although it fell through, Joshua has formerly sparred and boxed lefty Wallin in the amateurs, giving him enough knowledge of the Swede.

    Luis Ortiz
The Cuban was once the most feared southpaw in the division, but two losses to Deontay Wilder appear to have taken its toll.
Ortiz, now 42, most recently beat Charles Martin, 35, in January but had to pick himself off the canvas to do so.
He still has massive name value and has an equally tricky style to Usyk.
Joshua came close to fighting Ortiz in 2019 but the contender instead opted to chase a rematch with Wilder.

    Zhilei Zhang
At 6ft 6in, the Chinese heavyweight does not cut the same frame as Usyk but is at least a southpaw.
He is also signed to Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing stable, making negotiations easier.
Not only that, Joshua has history with Zhang dating back to their amateur days, winning in the quarter-finals of the 2012 London Olympics.
Zhang, 38, is unbeaten as a professional but in February 2021 drew to Jerry Forrest, giving AJ the confidence the task would not be too risky.

    Jerry Forrest
The aforementioned American is the most under the radar of the lot but would certainly offer Joshua some valuable southpaw rounds.
Forrest, 33, has lost to contenders such as Jermaine Franklin, 28, and Carlos Takam, 41, in recent years.
But his two most recent fights were draws, against Zhang and then the highly-touted Michael Hunter, 33.
Joshua could expect a tough enough run-out against Forrest, who has only ever been stopped once.

    Joseph Parker
The New Zealander is not a southpaw nor low risk, but Joshua has at least responded to Parker’s call for a rematch.
AJ, who beat him in 2018, told Behind The Gloves: “I’ll fight Joseph Parker.
“Do you know what it is? My record shows, it’s a fight at the end of the day, what do you want me to do?
“I don’t give a f***, I’ll fight whoever, whenever, it’s only a fight. Do you know what I’m trying to say? So yeah, I’ll fight, 100 per cent.”

    Deontay Wilder
The Bronze Bomber is quite possibly the only big fight Joshua and Hearn would consider taking before a rematch with Usyk.
Their history, opposing styles and recent losses makes the clash a box office blockbuster and arguably as big as anything involving Usyk.
The ex-WBC champ at 36 is yet to confirm whether he will retire or not but it appears clear if he returns it will only be for big fights.
AJ and Wilder could se llout just about any stadium or arena worldwide and would be the biggest fight for either of them to take at this point.

Amir Khan considering activating Kell Brook rematch clause and is NOT ready to retire, claims promoter

AMIR KHAN reportedly has no intention of retiring and is planning to activate his rematch clause with Kell Brook.Khan fell victim to a sixth-round technical knockout at the hands of Brook when the pair met last month.

But Brook is reportedly willing to give Khan what he wants as he’s adamant he’ll defeat the Bolton native once againCredit: Getty
And the Bolton-born boxer declared that he was considering hanging up his gloves after the all-British spectacle as he ‘no longer loved the sport’.
Khan’s retirement claims were then echoed by his wife Faryal Makhdoom who thanked her hubby for his contribution to boxing in a social media post.
But according to boxing promoter Ben Shalom, Khan’s had a change of heart and wants to have another crack at Brook.
SunSport reported on Saturday that Khan was mulling over whether to step in the ring again.
And now, in an interview with Sky Sports, Shalom’s confirmed that the whispers of Khan’s return are true.
Shalom claims that Khan’s motivation behind a potential rematch with Brook is that he was hard done by in their first bout as Special K had more time to train than him.

Shalom said to Sky: “I think the word on the street is true, Amir Khan doesn’t want to call it a day.
“He’s had a lot of time to think about the fight over the last few weeks, and he feels like he only had ten weeks to prepare and Kell Brook had six months.
    “He feels hard done by.”
And Brook seems willing to grant Khan his wishes for a rematch if that’s what he wants.
But the former IBF world champion is adamant that the result will be exactly the same this time around.
Brook said, reported by Michael Benson on Twitter: “If he wants another whooping, he can have another whooping.
“It was so one-sided, I don’t know what he can say. If he wants that rematch, I’ll dust them gloves off and do it again.”
However, Brook has his sights set elsewhere as it has been announced that he is in talks to fight welterweight champion Conor Benn.
And Khan will have to move quickly if he wants to get to Brook before Benn as he’s only got a week left to activate the rematch clause. More

Some have wondered whether the undefeated heavyweight is merely trying to drum up interest in the all-British bout.
But in an interview with BT Sport Fury has stuck to his guns, claiming he’ll have made all the cash that he could possibly need.
He told Carl Frampton: “The only thing I can gain is money.
“So after this fight I’ll have earned over £100million. If I can spend that, I don’t deserve any more, do I?
“I know Mike Tyson spent half a billion and Evander Holyfield 400million and all the rest, but I don’t live their big flash lifestyles.
“I live in Morecambe, in Lancashire. It’s cheap there. I don’t have any big habits like I’m gambling tons of money away.

He then added that he’d like to do a film – with a star-studded cast.
Fury said: “I have been offered Hollywood movies plenty of times. But they will 100 per cent do a movie about me one day.
“The Rock plays me in the movie, my brother The Rock. It could either be me or The Rock who plays me in the movie.
“I want to retire on top, unbeaten heavyweight champion of the world. I want to do a Netflix documentary, a Hollywood movie, and be a good husband, father and son.
“Most of all I just want to be happy, and that’s probably the hardest thing.”
Should he call it quits, Fury will turn his back on a potential title unification fight with Oleksandr Usyk, as well as a battle with old foe Anthony Joshua.
As for his TV dreams, Fury has already starred in a behind the scenes ITV docu-series.
The 2020 production followed his comeback journey, with viewers getting an exclusive look at his victory over Tom Schwartz and controversial draw with Deontay Wilder.

Fury is hoping to see a record British crowd of over 100,000 people cram into Wembley to watch his fight with Whyte.
Anthony Joshua’s 2017 win over Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley was in front of 90,000 people, but Fury vs Whyte could smash that figure.
An application has been made to increase the normal capacity.
Fury told talkSPORT: “We had those great nights in Las Vegas, a lot of fans turned out for that.
“It’s down to me to come home and put on a big fight in the UK and give all the fans that travelled abroad, and ones who couldn’t travel, come and see me in the flesh and see the fight.
“It’s going to be an absolutely epic night. I’ve been told it will be open to 103,000 people, which will be the biggest gate in British boxing history by far. It’s going to be an electric night, I cannot wait.
“The Gypsy King returns home, to the throne and a defence in an all British showdown. I cannot wait.”

He added: “I’m absolutely ecstatic, can’t believe it. The boys are back in town, four years in the making.
“I’ve been away on the road for four years in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and been all over the place.
“I’m glad to be back home in the capital city, boxing in the biggest stadium in the country. It’s very, very exciting for me.” More

    Done it for his brother
Alex Wassabi revealed his prize money for defeating YouTuber Deji will go towards his brother’s education.
“Everything that didn’t go to my training camp is going to my little brother,” Wassabi said after the bout.
“He means the world to me.
“It’s all going towards his college fund – everything I do is partially for him.”
    Did Wassabi cheat?
Fans are calling Alex Wassabi a cheat after defeating Deji in their grudge boxing match.
One fan took to Twitter and wrote: “Deji got tobbed, Wassabi used his elbows.”
While another mulled: “Don’t know how to feel about the fight. Deji had some good shots but Wassabi was more offensive with an elbow?”
And a third fan even called for a rematch, saying: “I accept Deji lost right, but if you watch carefully Wassabi uses elbows and headlocked Deji for a second. it wasn’t fair and I think it needs a rematch.”
    Judges scorecard
The bout between Alex Wassabi and Deji went the distance.
So, it was up to the judges to score the right.
In the end, they went 50-46, 49-47 and 48-47 for Wassabi, in what was a convincing win in the end.
Will we get a rematch soon?
    Ring invader
The strangest thing to happen during the Deji vs Alex Wassabi fight perhaps came when someone jumped into the ring DURING their fight.
As the action was unfolding in the second round, a random spectator, calling himself a TikToker by the name of Golden Boy, jumped the rop and halted proceedings.
The 21-year-old is an aspiring boxing content creator who makes motivational and fitness clips.

    Joshua enjoyed the spectacle
KSI wasn’t the only celebrity in tow in Wembley to watch YouTubers Alex Wassabi and Deji get it on in the ring.
Heavyweight boxing superstar Anthony Joshua was also ringside checking out all the action.
And he was there cheering on Deji, although wouldn’t have been happy with the result.
    Wassabi was the victor.
    Deji vs Wassabi II
Alex Wassabi is desperate for a rematch with fellow YouTuber Deji, after defeating his foe.
Speaking after the fight, Wassabi spoke of the home support for Deji as well as his thoughts on going again.
“These people love their people and they showed it; I didn’t hear my name once,” Wassabi said.
“Deji, I just wanted to compete and if it wasn’t for you that dream wouldn’t have come true.
“I want to get back in… I don’t know when the next YouTube event is.”
    AnEsonGib calls out Wassabi
British YouTuber turned boxer AnEsonGib fancies a tussle with Alex Wassabi.
Last night, he tweeted: “Let me wig wassabi”.
Wassabi has since retorted, “let’s get it. come down to 175 big gibby.”
Will these two be the next big YouTubers doing battle?
Deji’s brother KSI ready for return
YouTube star KSI is aiming to make a boxing return ‘later this year’ or in early 2023 – his first fight since rematching Logan Paul – following supporting his brother Deji’s bout against Alex Wassabi.
The British celebrity, also a chart-topping rapper, drew in a boxing exhibition with Paul, 26, in 2018.
he pair then controversially turned professional a year later for a rematch which KSI, 28 and also known as JJ, won by split-decision.
The rivals have now turned business partners by launching a drink together, the latest venture in KSI’s hectic schedule.
That busy schedule is largely to blame for the former gamer’s absence in the ring, but according to one of his coaches Leon Wills, a comeback is being eyed.
Wills told GiveMeSport: “JJ’s told me that he’s looking to fight either later this year or early next year. That’s what he said.
“But, it’s just time. He’s a top boy in whatever he does; in music, he’s a top artist, in YouTube, he’s a top YouTuber.
“Now he’s got a drink company with Logan, it’s hard to find the time.
“So, if he can put that all aside and train boxing and focus on boxing, then 100 per cent.”
    Wassabi wants KSI fight
He disposed of Deji, now Alex Wassabi is eyeing up a fight with his brother KSI.
Wassabi was asked by YouTube host Fred Talks Fighting if he’d fight the YouTuber/Rapper.
“He’s the same size as you,” Wassabi replied to the presenter.
    “Let’s go, he’s a dog and I’m a beast.
“Wouldn’t that be a crazy fight?”
    Wassabi’s shock over Deji win
Wassabi has shared his disbelief over his win against Deji.
When asked by Fred Talks Fighting on YouTube his thoughts on the fight afterward, Wassabi expressed his shock.
While standing in his fight gear in his changing room, Wassabi said: “I can’t believe it, I won!
“I believed in myself but anything can happen.
“And once it happens, then you can believe it!”
    Wassabi’s ‘cheat’ claims
Boxing fans have accused Wassabi of elbowing his way to victory over Deji.
One fan claimed: “Deji got tobbed, Wassabi used his elbows.”
    Wassabi’s open to fighting KSI
Wassabi has revealed that he’s open to fighting Deji’s brother KSI next time round.
When asked by YouTube host Fred Talks Fighting if he’s down to take on KSI, Wassabi responded: “He’s the same weight.
    “He’s a dog, I’m a beast, let’s go.
“That would be a crazy fight.”
    The show goes on
Deji won’t be slowing down for now it seems.
Despite his loss to Wassabi last night, Dejain remains upbeat about his future in the ring.
On Instagram, he declared that his journey will only end when he makes the decision to call it day.

    Deji’s future plans revealed
Deji has put off his decision to retire after his loss to Wassabi.
Before the fight, Deji had vowed to hang up his gloves after two prior defeats.
But after the Wassabi bout, he said to the crowd if he should reconsider his decision to hang up his gloves.
And after they roared their encouragement, he said: “If you guys want me to fight again, I’ll show you what I can do.”
    Rematch on the cards
Wassabi revealed that he’s open to a rematch with Deji.
After their bout, he said to Deji: “These people love their people and they showed it; I didn’t hear my name once.
“Deji, I just wanted to compete and if it wasn’t for you that dream wouldn’t have come true.
“I want to get back in… I don’t know when the next YouTube event is.”
YouTuber headbutts rival on Deji undercard
Deji’s fight with Wassabi was filled with controversial moments.
Along with a fan invading the pair’s fight, there was also a moment of madness on the undercard bout of the YouTuber’s battle.
British YouTuber Ryan Taylor and American Instagram personality ‘DK Money’ also clashed on the night – but their fight was over barely before it started.
A raging Taylor furiously grappled with his opponent before unleashing a brutal headbutt.
DK Money was left floored and the bout instantly called off.
    Armz Korleone hails Deji
Social media star and fellow fighter Armz Korleone has hailed Deji after his loss to Wassabi.
Korleone praised Deji for getting in the ring when many others wouldn’t.
He also told KSI’s brother that winning and losing are just man-made labels in a post on Instagram.

    Wassabi’s pledge to little brother
Alex Wassabi has pledged to donate his fight funds to put his little brother in college.
Wassabi emerged as the winner in his fight against Deji, but he has no plans to splash the cash on himself.
He told the Mirror before the fight: “Everything that didn’t go to my training camp is going to my little brother.
“He means the world to me.
“It’s all going towards his college fund – everything I do is partially for him.”
    Wassabi celebrates win
Alex Wassabi celebrated his win over Deji by reflecting on how far he’s come in his career.
The YouTuber’s pal put up a picture of them both clowning around in what is thought to be at the start of his career.
And Wassabi wrote on the pic: “We’ve come a long way.”

    KSI’s reaction to Deji’s loss
KSI was pictured looking devastated after witnessing his brother Deji’s loss to Wassabi.
He was spotted with a startled expression when Wassabi was handed victory on split decision against Deji.

    Deji’s message to fans

But Joshua seemed to be in a relaxed mood as he smiled amongst fans in the crowd.
