      Floyd Mayweather claims Logan Paul’s payday for fight will ‘take a while’ as YouTuber slams him over ‘missing money’

      FLOYD MAYWEATHER has told Logan Paul it will ‘take a while’ before he receives the remainder of his money for their mega-fight.The 44-year-old boxing legend competed in an eight-round exhibition against the YouTuber in June of last year.

      And recently Paul alleged that Mayweather has failed to pay him all the money he is owed for the event.
      But the 50-0 five-weight world champion has now responded to those claims by explaining how the finances of the fight work.
      Speaking on The Pivot Podcast, he said: “This comes with the territory.
      “To them, that’s real money, and I like the YouTubers. The money on the back end though, from pay-per-view, that takes a while.
      “Nothing comes right away. I’m still collecting checks from fights seven or eight years ago.
      “They just hate when the table is turned. Be happy with the biggest payday you ever got in your life.”

      Mayweather’s comments comes after some strong words from Paul about the ex-boxer.
      Responding to an article about Mayweather’s wealth last month, Paul tweeted: “Yeah because the dirty little rat hasn’t paid me yet lol. It’s been 6 months.
      “But no worries @Floydmayweather @KSI and I are going to make back the money you stole from me & more. January 4.”
      Paul says he ‘made a mistake’ trusting Mayweather and confirmed that he has opened a lawsuit against him.
      He told TMZ Sports: “It’s honestly bull****, [Having] people who aren’t a professional promotional company controlling where the money goes… we made that mistake. 
      “But it’s Floyd Mayweather, so before we fought him we were kind of willing to do whatever [and] after the fact we’re shooting ourselves in the foot because he’s a f***ing s***bag.”
      Paul also sent a warning out to any future opponent of Mayweather, saying: “Now that we know that, and everyone else who fights Floyd should know that, don’t let him control the money.” More

      But it was what was hung around Mayweather’s neck that drew attention from the sidelines.
      The American was sporting a glittering diamond cross and necklace to go with his impressive watch.
      And he even took the time to pose with the mascot while showing off his vast amounts of cash.
      Mayweather’s public appearance comes just days after YouTuber Logan Paul labelled him a ‘s***bag’ and accused the boxer of failing to pay him.
      Paul faced Mayweather in an eight-round exhibition in June of last year.
      And the internet sensation took aim at the 44-year-old by alleging he has not paid him the reported eight-figure sum he was due to receive for the event.

      What is a catchweight in boxing and UFC?

      BOXING and MMA are sports jam-packed with fighters of all different shapes and sizes. And it’d be foolish to have anyone fight whoever they please, regardless of their physical size or stature, so weight classes were introduced.

      In boxing, there are 17 different weight divisions, starting at strawweight and ending all the way up in the sport’s blue-riband division, heavyweight.
      In the UFC, the world’s largest MMA organisation, there are 12 weight classes, eight for the male fighters and four the females.
      But what happens when two fighters can’t agree to a fight in a particular weight class? Introducing the catchweight…
      What is a catchweight in combat sports?
      A catchweight is the weight agreed to by both participants in a fight which is stipulated to take place outside of the exciting weight classes in the sport.
      This weekend, Amir Khan takes on Kell Brook in a huge Brit grudge clash, and although both have fought their careers from super-lightweight all the way up to super-welterweight, the pair won’t be fighting in any of those.
      Instead, the fight is taking place at 149lbs, which is two pounds above the standard welterweight limit.
      Catchweights are agreed to in a contract and they’re usually brought in to accommodate a fighter who struggles to make weight, with the opposing fighter unlikely to want to move up a full weight class.
      Should a fighter weigh-in heavier than the agreed-to weight class, there are usually purse charges in place as punishment.
      In the case of Khan and Brook, if either fighter misses the 149lb limit, it’s been reported that they face a huge six-figure fine for their troubles.
      Catchweight fights don’t happen as often in the UFC as they do in boxing, but there have still been some instances.
      Current featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski fought at a 150lbs catchweight against Shane Young in 2017, taking the fight on a weeks notice.

      Ronaldo, 37, returned to Manchester in the summer after leaving Juventus but already his future is in doubt.
      So retired ex-UFC champion Nurmagomedov, 33, will do his best to keep the forward at the club.
      He told Sky Sports: “He became 37 years old, this is not his best age but even how he plays, I think affects his whole team.
      “His energy, his experience, his advice. They have a very good, strong, young team.
      “Next year I feel they will do a very good job, right now so many new players they don’t connect well.

      Fury, 33, has a busy schedule in 2022 as he prepares to defend his WBC crown against Dillian Whyte on April 23.
      Should he win, Fury is then likely to fight either Oleksandr Usyk or Anthony Joshua to unify the heavyweight division.
      But the Gypsy King is already making plans for 2023 by lining up a mega-scrap with UFC heavyweight king Ngannou.
      The Cameroonian hitter, 35, successfully defended his belt last month against Ciryl Gane.
      But he is set to miss the rest of the year as he recovers from knee surgery.
      And with his UFC deal expiring at the end of 2022, Ngannou would be free to take up a fight against Fury in the boxing ring.

      Fury told IFL: “I am going to fight Francis Ngannou in Las Vegas next year – in March or February.
      “There’s been no talks this year because I have got some boxing to do.
      “But next year we can have some crazy fights. It’s a massive fight.
      “I believe it breaks all pay-per-view records in the United States. Two heavyweight champions going head to head.”
      Indeed, Ngannou is keen to make the transition to boxing, telling TMZ: “This is going to happen either way.
      “Even if I stay, if or when the UFC and I finalise a deal, the boxing part has to be in it. I can’t see myself retiring without boxing.

      “I would like to test myself to their level. It’s not the same sport but I’m the champion, so I’m top in this division.
      “At the end of the day, it’s just about throwing hands, throwing punches, having a good delivery system to throw those bombs.

      However, should Ngannou extend his UFC deal, he may find it difficult persuading boss Dana White to set up a fight against Fury.
      White said at the weekend: “The fact that they [the boxing world champions] are even talking about our guys shows you where boxing is at.
      “Boxing’s been a mess for a long time and it’s not going to get straightened out any time soon.

      Khan and Khabib – both hugely popular fighters in the Middle East – have formed a friendship in the past.
      So the retired UFC legend will be rooting for his pal in the pay-per-view clash, but knows it will not be easy.
      Khabib, 33, told Sky Sports: “I’m gonna watch. I like boxing, I love boxing. I was watching like boxing, like all big fights I watch live.
      “I know he [Khan] has a tough opponent. And I was like, I don’t think like Amir Khan right now is in his prime time.
      “But it’s going to be a close fight. My opinion is it’s going to be a close fight, a very close fight.
      “He has a tough opponent, but he can beat him, but I think it’s going to be very close fight.”

      Khabib retired from the UFC in 2020 after beating Justin Gaethje, 33, in what was his first fight after losing his influential father Abdulmanap.
      The Russian refused to return without his mentor and coach, even rejecting a $100million boxing match with Floyd Mayweather, 44.
      Khabib remains a fight fan and has even launched his own MMA promotion, Eagle Fighting Championship.
      But well as boxing, Nurmagomedov is a keen football supporter and recently visited Manchester United.
      Now one of his top priorities is convincing good friend Cristiano Ronaldo, 37, to remain at Old Trafford for next season.
      Khabib joked: “He became 37 years old, this is not his best age but even how he plays, I think affect his whole team.
      “His energy, his experience, his advice. They have a very good, strong, young team.
      “Next year I feel they will do a very good job, right now so many new players they don’t connect well.
      “I think next year Manchester United are going to be big problem for all clubs. I’m going to talk with him.”
