AMIR KHAN wants to rematch Kell Brook – but even promoter Ben Shalom will try and talk the British boxing icon out of it. Khan was decisively beaten in six rounds in what many assumed would end his near-two decade rivalry with Brook.

But the famously hard-to-finalise fight included a rematch clause for the loser.
And after some thinking time while away in Dubai, it appears Khan wishes to exercise his right to a shot at revenge.
Shalom said on talkSPORT: “The past few days I’ve received emails, texts, everything. Amir wants the rematch, he really does want the rematch.
“I don’t think it will happen, if I’m honest. I don’t think as a promoter I can see the reason why it should happen.

“I’m yet to sit down with Amir and really understand where he’s coming from, from an injury point of view, from a preparation point of view.
“I think his ego’s very hurt and he doesn’t want to be remembered for that fight – and I don’t think he will be.
“But I think that’s where it’s coming from, but honestly, Amir Khan wants the rematch.”
Asked whether he will try talk Khan out of a rematch, Shalom replied: “Yeah. I’m gonna try and make sure he makes a sensible decision.”

Khan, 35, was left admitting after the one-sided beating that his best days now beyond him, and even questioned his love for the sport.
While Brook, also 35, was immediately being linked with domestic blockbusters against Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr.
A rerun with Khan looked out of the picture – but the former IBF welterweight champion confirmed he is ready to go again.
Brook told Sky Sports: “If he wants another whooping he can have another whooping.
“It was so one-sided, I don’t know what he can say and come back to the table with.
“If he wants that rematch, I’ll dust them gloves off and do it again.”

Fury and his fans bashed the Brixton banger for his absence, which Hearn believes is rich considering the defending WBC heavyweight champ went AWOL for his pre-fight clash with Klitschko in September 2016.
The Matchroom Boxing chief told iFL TV: “Everyone is very, very quick to forget that Tyson Fury didn’t turn up the Wladimir Klitschko press conference.”
When it was put to Hearn that Fury may have been going through some mental health problems at the time, he replied: “He chose not to turn up.
“He’s still at fault, he chose not to turn up to the press conference. So what’s the difference?

“It was for a fight and he chose not to [attend]. He said that his car broke down on the way down. It didn’t.”
Veteran promoter Hearn was quick not to make light of Fury’s well-documented struggles with his mental health.
He continued: “You don’t know what anyone is going through. But it’s one rule for one, one rule for the other.
“At the end of the day, Tyson Fury didn’t turn up to the Wladimir Klitschko press conference, Dillian Whyte didn’t turn up to the Tyson Fury press conference.

“Let’s hope everything gets resolved and let’s hope they get in the ring.”
Whyte has maintained radio silence over the last few weeks, which prompted Hearn to explain why he missed the presser.
He told Fight Hub TV: “I saw Tyson Fury say, ‘I told him not to go to the press conference’ — absolute rubbish.
“There’s still a lot of stuff that’s still to be resolved, that he hasn’t had answers for. I don’t want to go into it too much but, you know, tickets for the fight, escrow for the money, he wanted a plane to bring him in, he didn’t want to just go on a low budget airline because Covid still exists.
“Some people want to buy Rolls Royces but they can’t afford the petrol. And this is a problem.
“If you want to spend $42 million on a fight, are you going to bring in a guy from Portugal and you want to put him on an airline? There’s other stuff, they don’t want to give him tickets for the fight.
“So under a purse bid agreement there’s things he does and doesn’t have to do, like it’s not a commercial agreement as per normal. So it’s his own decision.

The heavyweight legend made a stunning return in November 2020, more than 15 years after he announced his retirement from boxing.
Tyson drew in an eight-round exhibition with fellow American great Roy Jones Jr, 53, on a Triller pay-per-view which sold a reported 1.6million packages.
The Sun Sport reported earlier this year that Tyson was in advanced negotiations for a mega money fight with YouTuber Logan Paul.
Those negotiations broke down and nothing has been reported since now regarding the icon stepping back in the ring. 
But he has teased his fan base about another comeback by posting a picture of himself in his prime with the caption: “Ready of not, here I come…”
Then a video clip was posted by the official ESPN Ringside account showing Iron Mike back in training with his coach Rafael Cordeiro.
