Anthony Joshua ‘two weeks’ away from revealing identity of new coach and starting training camp for Usyk rematch

ANTHONY JOSHUA is two weeks away from revealing the identity of his new coach and beginning preparations for his high-stakes rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.AJ ditched long-time trainer Rob McCracken in the wake of his lopsided points defeat to the undefeated Ukranian last September – but has kept the identity of his new head coach under wraps.

Promoter Eddie Hearn expects the identity of AJ’s new trainer to be revealed in the next two weeksCredit: PA
But promoter Eddie Hearn believes all will be revealed in a fortnight when the Watford warrior knuckles down for the do-or-die rematch.
When asked when Joshua’s second tussle with Usyk will be officially announced, Hearn told BetFredTV: “I think when camp starts officially.
“If we’re looking at May or early June for the fight, you’re talking about 12 or 14 weeks to go, so we’re probably two weeks away from starting full camp and I’m sure Anthony Joshua and his team will announce any additions to that training team in due course.
“He knows what he’s doing and where he’s going.”
Defeat in his Tottenham tussle with Usyk has lit a fire under Joshua, who was outboxed and outfoxed by the slick southpaw.
Hearn said: “He’s training really hard at the moment up in Loughborough and he looks sensational.

“He’s hungrier than ever and ready to recapture his heavyweight world titles.”
A date and venue for Joshua vs Usyk 2 have not yet been finalised, although Hearn is open to hosting the fight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium again.
He said: “I was speaking with Daniel Levy from Tottenham last night and I’d love to go back to Spurs for the rematch.
“I thought It was the most incredible stadium. I would love to go back there.
“Usyk is also on a split of the money, so they’ll be going for an option which creates the most revenue.”
Hearn has received multiple offers from around the world to stage the fight but would prefer to host it in London.

He said: “We’ve had offers from around the world to stage that fight. It’s the biggest heavyweight fight this year, certainly to date, and I think it’s going to be a major fight around the world.
“There’s a lot of interest. Mine and AJ’s preference is to do it back in London and we’re probably not a million miles away from announcing the fight.
“The contract is signed and everything is mostly done, we’ve just got to agree on a date and venue and then everything is done.”

The tyrant declared a “special military operation” in Ukraine with a dawn raid after months of amassing his forces on the border and brazenly lying to the world about his plans to invade.
The world is waking up to what could be the most horrific crisis in Europe since World War II as Putin seeks to tear down the world order.
Now the Klitschko brothers, with the older Vitali the current Mayor of Kiev, have called open the world to ‘support Ukraine’ in the face of Russian aggression.
In a clip they shared on social media, Wladimir says: “I’m calling to all international partners to observe this strategy that is happening nowadays in Ukraine and this senseless war which is not going to have any winners, but losers.
“I just want to tell you we must stay united against this Russian aggression.
“Don’t let it continue happening in Ukraine, don’t let it happen in Europe and eventually in the world.
“United we are strong. Support Ukraine. Thank you.”

UK prime minister Boris Johnson vowed to “hobble” Russia with crippling sanctions after Vladimir Putin inflicted a “hideous and barbaric” war on Ukraine.
In a rare address to the nation the PM promised the Kremlin tyrant would pay for unleashing a “tidal wave of violence” on “innocent people”.
Bombs and missiles began falling on Ukraine at dawn shortly after Putin declared war on the country in a chilling televised address.
Bloodied civilians were pictured stumbling through debris after air strikes blitzed a slew of major cities, including capital Kyiv.
Mr Johnson was woken at 4am for an urgent call with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy before chairing a Cobra meeting in Whitehall.

Watch shocking moment boxer picks up opponent and performs TWO MMA move leaving commentator and referee stunned

A BOXER stunned fight fans last weekend by landing TWO double-leg takedowns at Global Legion FC 20.Alberto Blas – who also competes in mixed martial arts – appeared to forget he was taking part in a boxing match as he shot in for a takedown less than a minute into his clash with Timmy Mason last weekend.

The Cuban executed a picture-perfect power double, beautifully dropping to his knees and slamming Mason to the canvas.
The referee and announcers were left absolutely stunned by Blas’ takedown – which Mason was powerless to stop.
Blas, 27, was quickly pushed off Mason so he couldn’t rain down any ground and pound.
Stunningly, the ref didn’t disqualify Blas for his blatant violation of the rules.
But just moments later, it soon became apparent Blas’ takedown wasn’t muscle memory kicking in as he took Mason down a second time.
The ref struggled to pull El Indio off his opponent the second time but promptly disqualified him from the match after separating the pair.

He wrote on Instagram: “‼️INSTANT REVENGE‼️

“It can cause severe permanent damage or even death.

He added: “I almost asked for a head kick but we didn’t want to hurt the opponent.”
Shocked viewers of the fight were quick to comment, with one tweeting: “Beautiful double leg takedown, but why the f*** did he even do that for? Lol.”

Oleksandr Usyk challenges Tyson Fury to BARE KNUCKLE boxing fight in street for ‘lying’ over ducking him

OLEKSANDR USYK has hit back at Tyson Fury challenging him to a bare-knuckle street brawl. The heavyweight world champion, 35, was asked about Fury’s claim that he ducked out of a unification fight to instead rematch Anthony Joshua.

Usyk stated he has never avoided a fight with anyone – even when it risked personal reputation.
Usyk said on Behind The Gloves: “He’s lying, I never duck anybody. If he wants I can fight him right now, with bare knuckles in the street.
“In all my career, I never ducked anybody.
“Even when I had to go to Moscow, Russia and the situations between the countries was very tight, I could have big problems in my country, even then, I went to Russia in Moscow, and I fought, and I showed everybody what I was capable of doing [by beating Murat Gassiev].”
Given Fury’s father John used to be a bare knuckle boxer, calling out The Gyspsy King for such a contest may not be wise.
But there has been a lot of trash talk between the various heavyweight boxing camps over the last few weeks.

Earlier this month AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn claimed Fury refused the Usyk bout as he wanted a warm up fight first – which will come against Dillian Whyte on April 23.
The Gypsy King hit back at that statement by claiming he could beat Joshua and Usyk on the same night – that pair will instead fight out a rematch at some point this year.
Fury would ordinarily respond to Usyk’s rebuttal but the WBC heavyweight world champion is now on a media blackout.
But before he fell silent Fury predicted another win for the Ukrainian over Joshua.
Usyk even offered to train Joshua one day after slamming his current training regime after the Brit dropped long-term mentor Rob McCracken. More

Fans notice Anthony Joshua studying Tyson Fury in background while showing off explosive power in Usyk rematch training

ANTHONY JOSHUA appears to be studying Tyson Fury as he prepares for his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk. The former heavyweight champion is set to try and earn his belts back against the Ukrainian in May, and is already hard at work in preparation.

AJ may have been watching Tyson Fury for inspirationCredit: Instagram / @anthonyjoshua
AJ shared a clip of himself sparring to his 13.4million followers on Instagram last night, captioning it: “Kaboom 💥”
And fans noticed an interesting detail in the background.
On a screen behind the ring, it appeared that Joshua was watching Tyson Fury’s win over Deontay Wilder.
Joshua, 32, was heavily linked with a bout with the Gypsy King last year, before losing the opportunity by falling to Usyk.
The Brit may want to watch Fury for inspiration – a reminder of what lies in his path should he manage to overcome his next obstacle.
Alternatively, AJ could be studying his compatriot purely for technical inspiration.

Fury, 33, is undefeated at 31-0-1 – with the single draw coming in the first Wilder fight.
Responding to Joshua’s video, one fan wrote: “The background 👀”

Joshua’s clash with Usyk could take place on home soil, with Wembley and Cardiff’s Principality Stadium in the running.
If not in the UK, AJ could head to the Middle East – as he did for his rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr in Diriyah.
Promoter Eddie Hearn said: “There’s the UK, America, the Middle East – we’ve had offers all around the world for that fight. I’d like to do it in the UK and we’ll see.”

‘I can help him’ – Oleksandr Usyk offers to train Anthony Joshua and slams Brit’s new regime before heavyweight rematch

OLEKSANDR USYK is the latest heavyweight rival to have a laugh at Anthony Joshua’s training regime.Decade-long mentor Rob McCracken was the major casualty of AJ’s September loss of the WBA, IBF and WBO belts to the Ukraine sensation.

And, despite the mega-money rematch planned for June, a replacement head trainer is yet to be named.
Tyson Fury has had a couple of digs at the collapse of the 32-year-old Watford icon’s team and offered to train the 2012 Olympic golden boy himself.
And now 35-year-old Usyk has made the same sarcastic suggestion ahead of their rerun that will land in London or the Middle East.
Behind the Gloves asked Usyk about Joshua’s camp confusion.

“In five years’ time when I have retired, if he still wants a new trainer then, I can help him establish a team.”
Usyk and WBC champion Fury tried to set up an undisputed showdown last month, by making AJ and Fury’s mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte take step-aside deals.
Talks got into the final straight before the complicated plan collapsed and blame was hurled in all directions.
Usyk is keeping his cool over the frustrating route to four-belt glory but he won’t stand for the Gypsy King claiming he ducked their fight.
And he holds up his fearless 2018 trip to Moscow to beat Russian hero Murat Gassiev – when the two nations were at loggerheads over Crimea – as a sign of his unquestionable bravery.
He said: “Fury is lying, I have never ducked anybody.
“In all of my career, I have never ducked anybody.
“I have been to Moscow to fight when national relations were very tight and I could have had big problems there.
“But I went to Russia, into Moscow, and I showed the people I have no fear.”

He left the cage with a 5-2 record, last fighting in February 2020, and he told SunSport how he was almost ready to hang up his gloves afterwards.
Now the hugely-popular 34-year-old reality TV star is officially swapping the cage for the ring in just a matter of weeks, debuting on the undercard of Savannah Marshall’s WBO middleweight world title defence against Femke Hermans.
His opponent is yet to be confirmed.
The show was previously scheduled for March and will see the Hartlepool-born Marshall take on the Belgian former world champion at Newcastle Arena.
Welterweight Florian Marku and heavyweight Nathan Gorman, returning to the ring after over a year out, will also be in action.
Chalmers recently revealed his hopes to fight Tyson Fury’s younger brother Tommy in the future as well as eyeing a clash with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

Chris Eubank Jr’s promoter eyes Conor Benn fight at Old Trafford to honour their dads’ rematch and go down ‘memory lane’

BRITISH boxing fans could be taken down ‘memory lane’ with Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn fighting at the scene of their dads’ legendary rematch. Eubank beat arch nemesis Benn in the pair’s iconic 1990 clash, setting up a fiercely-anticipated rematch three years later.

What followed was half a billion worldwide viewers and 42,000 packed into Old Trafford to watch the pair fight to an epic draw.
And despite a trilogy bout failing to materialise, the famous family rivalry could extend to a new generation with their sons adding another chapter.
Benn, 25, has called out Eubank Jr, 32, leaving fans dreaming of an unprecedented fight for the ages over 30 years in the making.
Promoter Kalle Sauerland, the first to openly float the clash, would snub England’s 90,000-seater home to favour a bit of history.
Sauerland told SunSport: “I wouldn’t do it at Wembley, I’d do it at Old Trafford for memory lane reasons.
“Benn vs Eubank, you could fill any stadium in this country and you’d be attracting some people that haven’t been to the boxing for many years.”

Eubank and Benn’s two-parter remains one of the most celebrated pair of fights and rivalries in British boxing history.
And as a result, it makes a follow up between their sons bigger than anything on the UK market right now, outside of the big boys.
Sauerland said: “It’s up there with the heavyweight fights right now, because of the names, because of the storyline.
“The fathers fought now the sons are fighting. It’s Hollywood stuff.
“It has all of that to it, but as I said, you have to separate that fight with everything else.”

Eubank Jr was challenged to a catchweight fight by Benn after beating Welshman Liam Williams, 29, this month.
The middleweight contender also has two potential grudge matches against either Billy Joe Saunders, 32, or Kell Brook, 35, on the table.
But Sauerland knows what fight will make the most money and memories.
He said: “Billy Joe rematch? Fantastic. Kell Brook? I think it’s very, very interesting. Conor Benn? That is a fight anybody would want to see.
“It’s front page news, isn’t it? It’s huge, it’s the biggest one out of all of them, in terms of spectacle, because of that history.
“But, is it the right time to make it? From our side it would be, but from their side, I’m not sure it would be.”
