‘Corruption and incompetence’ – Bradley Skeete retires from boxing aged 34 after watching Catterall ‘robbed’ vs Taylor

BRADLEY SKEETE has announced his retirement aged 34 after watching Jack Catterall get ‘robbed’ against Josh Taylor. The boxing world fumed after Catterall, 28, was controversially beaten by Taylor, 31, via split-decision in Scotland.

Uproar has led to an official investigation by the British Boxing Board of Control, it was confirmed.
Similarly, the BBoBC reviewed Skeete’s recent loss in December to Hamzah Sheeraz, who landed THREE punches while the Londoner was downed.
Skeete was later stopped but Sheeraz, 22, should have been disqualified by referee Steve Gray.
The BBoBC spoke with Gray and accepted his decision not to DQ Sheeraz – instead offering support to order a rematch.
In light of Catterall’s heartbreaking loss to Taylor, Skeete has decided to hang up his gloves.
He posted on Instagram: “After watching last nights fight and seeing the shocking decision against Jack Catterall I’m glad I’ve made the decision to walk away from boxing.

“From top to bottom it’s corruption and incompetence at its finest!
“It’s not the first and definitely won’t be the last time a fighter is blatantly cheated and robbed and nothing will be done about it!
“No doubt the BBBofC will look at it and just sweep it under the carpet as usual!
“The sport is becoming a joke it’s embarrassing! On that note I’m out. Thanks but no thanks.”
Catterall called himself the ‘Uncrowned King’ in a social media post as he reflected on his first career defeat.
He wrote: “Nothing will ever change how I feel about Saturday. I won that fight. I came to the champions country and gave him a lesson.
“The decision doesn’t sit well with me and i don’t think it ever will. They stole a moment in my life il never get back.
“I stand with everyone and agree big changes need to be made, the corruption in the sport we all love is so damaging.
“The support I’ve received since has been overwhelming and for that I thank you all. Uncrowned King.”

Paul, 26, was recently captured hitting a heavy bag for the first time since his fight with Floyd Mayweather, 44.

He said: “I know it sounds f***ing absurd but dude, I’m 26-years-old and I haven’t even been in LA or had the chance to mature my adult life for a decade.
“I’ve been learning, experiencing and absorbing knowledge for the past eight years ever since I moved to LA.
“I’m 26 and I’ll be eligible to run for president when I’m 35, so that gives me nine more years to become the best version of myself possible and to learn as much as I can about people, culture, society, where we fall short and where we are strong.
“I just think I’ll be a good leader one day and I think the presidential spot needs a fresh take.
“I think the country could use a person who is a little bit more nuanced, more innovative and authentic because I think a lot of politicians fall short.
“Personally I have trouble watching because I know that you are reading off a teleprompter and this speech was written for you by a campaign manager and I’m not like that.”
Paul added: “Part of the biggest blessing about this brand that I’ve built is that you either love or hate me for exactly who I am – there’s no smoke or mirrors.

“I’m me, Logan, and you accept that as truth or deny and ignore me, which is completely fine either way.
“I think there’s a lot of power in being authentic and I think it’s a possibility and something that I could see myself wanting to do at that age.
“Who knows, it might happen and I’ve got big goals and I’ve said crazier s***.
“If I was 18 and said I want to fight Floyd Mayweather then I’d have been laughed at and ridiculed. I just don’t feel like anything is impossible.”
Paul has fought three times since beginning his boxing career, starting with a 2018 white collar bout against Brit rival KSI, 28.
It ended in a draw, before the pair turned pro a year later with KSI winning via scrappy split-decision.
Paul only returned last June but did so in a shock exhibition against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.
And after eight rounds, Mayweather was unable to score a knockout victory, meaning it technically ended without a winner. More

Dillian Whyte in bitter row with Tyson Fury’s ‘dinosaur’ promoter Frank Warren as he refuses to attend fight launch

DILLIAN WHYTE is in a bitter row with Tyson Fury’s promoter Frank Warren over today’s ticket launch press conference – with the challenger claiming he did not receive a proper invite.Whyte, 33, will not break from his gruelling Portugal training camp to be at today’s event at Wembley, where the April 23 showdown will take place.

He claims he has not received a proper invite to promote ticket sales for his fight with Tyson Fury
And his lawyer has claimed his big-fight silence is in response to his treatment from rival promoter Warren, who won the £30million purse bid and right to hold the fight.
Lawyer and business adviser, Jeffrey Benz told SunSport: “Dillian Whyte would have been more than happy to attend the ticket launch event but was not able to reach agreement with Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions on even his very basic requirements which are normal in the sport of boxing.
“But they didn’t even given us notice of where and when this one-sided shindig will occur. It really is incredible.
“We are dealing with dinosaurs here. They bid $41m for a fight but are all over the place. They haven’t even met Dillian’s basic requirements which are entirely usual and nothing out of the ordinary.”
But veteran promoter Warren has now hit back at the claims and insists Whyte was told about the event last week – and even offered a private jet to get there.
A statemement from his Queensberry Promotions read: “Tyson Fury will be at Wembley today, Dillian Whyte will not, despite being notified of the date last week and before the official announcement was made on Friday.
“Dillian has contractual obligations that include co-operation in respect of the promotion of the fight.

“Dillian seems to have a raft of excuses for not turning up today, none of which hold water in circumstances where the parties have their rights and obligations defined by the contract Dillan has signed.
“For the record, Queensberry offered to fly Dillian and his team by private jet to London today so he could make the press conference, an offer they refused and that we were not obliged to make.
“We also offered to meet with his advisor to discuss matters including ticket requests, but it seems they’re more interested in influencing public opinion than fulfilling what we say are contractual obligations and giving fans the chance to see him and Tyson face off today.”
Whyte’s team deny this claim that they were offered the chance for talks – and say the offer was revoked at the last minute.
Team Whyte advisor Benz had earlier laid out the list of alleged reasons their Sky Sports PPV star will not pose for photos or play ball.
The Los Angeles-based 53-year-old claimed: “Dillian has been given no guarantee or escrow that he will actually get paid for fighting.

“Queensberry haven’t offered him a complimentary ticket allocation as is standard – not even a single ticket for his mother – or any opportunity to buy any for his family, friends or extended team
“They won’t advise on whether and to what extent Fury is subject to anti-doping testing by UKAD or other bodies in the same way that Dillian is regularly tested by both UKAD and VADA.
“They have so far failed to commence enhanced VADA testing as Dillian requested in the signed contract over a week ago.
“They used artwork with a photo of Dillian and didn’t seek his consent or even feature him accurately with his WBC world championship belt.
“And, bizarrely, they won’t even tell him the size of the ring that he will be competing in.”

Queensbury Promotions are now missing out on the huge boost Whyte would bring in view of his track record in big-fight build-ups.
The Brixton ace dragged Anthony Joshua into a thrilling 2015 battle with expert mind games and kept ice cool when Derek Chisora launched a table at his head.
Benz said the silent Body Snatcher even fears Fury will pull out of the fight.
He added: “Dillian is chomping at the bit to fight Fury, even though he feels Fury doesn’t want to fight him and fears that he will pull out late in the day with a lame excuse like a broken fingernail or a nettle sting in view of his track record.

“Dillian is keen to fight in spite of the unlawfully low split afforded to him in the purse bid by the WBC, which he is appealing and which will ultimately be subject to a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the leading global arbitration body for sports related disputes based in Switzerland.
“Ask yourself, why is he going to interrupt his camp, and risk covid and travel complications, when he has been the number one challenger since 2017 and waited longer than anyone in the history of the sport for his full world title fight?
“With seven-and-a-half weeks to go, the fight is not a long way off now, so there is no need for Dillian to interrupt his camp for one or two days for a ticket launch event, especially when they have the self-proclaimed best heavyweight of all time Tyson Fury pushing the event.
“No doubt it sells out in seconds and that must be why they can’t even spare a single ticket for Dillian’s mum.
“But everything is becoming an obstacle, everything is a diversion tactic or a stumbling block, even the most basic things. There is so little trust and faith over so many matters, they are nickle-and-diming us on everything.
“Fans need to ask why they have put up this big purse but then are scrimping on making the ticket launch event a big success.
“Dillian is disappointed but he has not been dealt with professionally and people should be more concerned with the promoters taking this fight seriously and delivering a fan experience that the fee paying fans deserve.”
He added: “It is naiive of the promoters not to make real efforts to involve Dillian fully in the build-up.
“Dillian is obviously disappointed and will focus his energies on fight night.
“But if the promotion flops, I don’t want to hear any whinging from the Fury and Warren camps as they are over 21 and have been warned that you can only make so much noise clapping with just one hand.” More

Benz said the silent Body Snatcher even fears Fury will pull out of the fight, he said: “Dillian is chomping at the bit to fight Fury, even though he feels Fury doesn’t want to fight him and fears that he will pull out late in the day with a lame excuse like a broken fingernail or a nettle sting in view of his track record.

He has no doubts who he thinks should have been walking away with the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO light-welterweight world titles – and it is not champ Taylor.
Joshua said: “I’m not a judge, but sometimes I feel the fans judge fights themselves and it’s clear to see who wins, who loses.
“When the majority are swaying one way, it’s important to listen.
“But what will be done about it? Who knows.”
Catterall boxed the perfect fight for 12 rounds in Taylor’s backyard, even dropping his opponent in the eighth round.
However, his celebrations quickly turned to devastation following the final bell.

Just one of the three judges gave the Chorley man the win with Ian John-Lewis inexplicably scoring it 114-111 to the Tartan Tornado.
Those results led to a furious outcry from British boxing while Catterall hit out at the robbery.
He said: “What a load of s***!”
The 28-year-old later asked Taylor: “When you dropping my belts off? This boxing game is a f***ing disaster.”
The sickening decision is now being investigated.
The British Boxing Board of Control will ask the three ringside judges who decided the controversial outcome to explain their cards at a behind-closed-doors meeting.

And The Maverick is still seething that the mega-rich Moneyman hasn’t stumped up all of the cash.
During an appearance on The MMA Hour, he said: “I’ve not been paid in full, that is a fact. We’re just trying to collect what is rightfully ours.
“He came out and said this is the name of the game, this is how it works in boxing but I don’t know if it is, I don’t know if that’s true.
“I think after you fight you should get paid, it doesn’t take this long to count the money.
“I don’t know [how much it is] but I know it’s not everything. It’s large enough for me to make a fuss about.
‘For the longest time, I bit my f***ing tongue. We heard it every week, ‘The money’s coming next week, the money’s coming next week’.

“I never thought I’d be the ‘Where’s the money?’ guy, but the only way to get this guy to move is to pipe up and embarrass him.
‘It feels unfair and i just want to make things right.”
Mayweather, 45, recently claimed Paul’s delayed purse was par for the course.
During an appearance on The Pivot Podcast, he said: “This comes with the territory.
“To them, that’s real money, and I like the YouTubers. The money on the back end though, from pay-per-view, that takes a while. Nothing comes right away.
“I’m still collecting cheques from fights seven or eight years ago.
“They just hate when the table is turned. Be happy with the biggest payday you ever got in your life.”

Neither man has set foot inside the ring since their exhibition, which went the distance.
Former five-weight world champ Mayweather was recently linked with another exhibition with Dubai-based YouTuber Money Kicks but the bout didn’t come to fruition.
Paul, meanwhile is set to make his WWE debut at Wrestlemania 38 in a Tag Team match against Rey and Dominik Mysterio.

Taylor’s loved ones were targeted by internet trolls after judges Ian John-Lewis and Victor Laughlin turned in their controversial scorecards, much to the fury of the Tartan Tornado.
He wrote on Instagram: “I have taken a few days for some well-earnt time with my family after not seeing them for a few months.
“I’ve had a chance to watch the fight back. First and foremost, I want to congratulate Jack Catterall on a great fight.
“He rose to the occasion and fought a valiant fight. However, I believe I won a very close fight.
“Many fans believe Jack deserved the decision, and that’s fine.
“We both went in there and fought our guts out for 12 rounds… but the personal attacks on myself and especially my family are disgusting and uncalled for.”

“I’ve never ducked a challenge in my career, and I’d be happy to fight Jack again, but it would have to be at welterweight.
“Jack is a great sportsman, a helluva fighter, and deserves every bit of the admiration he’s been receiving.
“I want to thank my family, my team, the fans who packed The OVO Hydro, and everyone who watched on Sky Sports, ESPN+, and around the world.

“Fighting as the undisputed champion on Scottish soil was a dream come true, but I’m only getting started.”
Taylor was ‘p***ed off’ with his performance on home soil and plans to erase the memory of it in his next outing.
He said: “I’ll be back and better than ever, this time ready to conquer the welterweight division.”

Wassabi has also released numerous music singles, including ‘My Side’ and ‘What It Is’ in 2017.
Though Wassabi has never had a fight before, he’s certainly displayed confidence for his clash with Deji on March 5.
He said: “Honestly, everything Deji puts out makes me less and less nervous.
“Everybody has nerves before a fight, even Mike Tyson said he cried before fights towards the end of his career.
“I was starting to feel those nerves once the announcement was made like ‘oh, it’s happening, it’s real now,’ and then every single time he puts something out I’m like ‘why would he put that out?’
“Especially his last video, he quit over and over and over!” More
