MARSELLOS WILDER suffered another shock boxing defeat. The younger brother of ex-heavyweight champion Deontay returned to the ring after two years out.

But the cruiserweight was beaten by journeyman opponent Eric Abraham by split-decision.
Abraham, 36, had lost NINE consecutive fights but improved his record to seven wins and 13 losses.
Marsellos wrote on Instagram: “Win, lose, or draw I’m thankful to God for allowing me to live in reality as a professional athlete experiencing something that I love.
“Aye, it’s rough being a Wilder but that’s what I was born to be. We move, ain’t that what steppers do. I’ll let y’all know what happens next.”

The younger Wilder made his debut in 2018 and enjoyed three consecutive wins until an upset stoppage to William Deets, 37, in 2019.
In the same year, he was then knocked out by Dustin Long, 39, before his layoff following the coronavirus pandemic.
Wilder, 32, was beaten by Abraham, 36, over four rounds but felt he should have been awarded the win.

“Not sure how I was going to perform but I was highly confident and had no doubt, so I wanted to make my return and impress.

“I had a controversial loss in my last big fight to Williamson and he went on to win the British title and did well.
“So people look at the back of that and think Harry is a really risky fight, especially at welterweight, which is just my natural weight.

“I thought to reach the level of the full time pros I’m fighting, I need to be doing the same.
“I still do a few odd bits like scaffolding to keep me ticking along with my mates. We love it. It’s good to get out and I can train around that.”
Scarff trains out of One Nation Gym in the East Midlands, alongside former Commonwealth Games champ Sandy Ryan.
It is a community based gym founded in 1997 by ex Heavyweight Boxer Clifton Mitchell and is the beating heart of boxing in Derby. 
Scarff added: “Clifton is the main man for Derby boxing and he has spearheaded it in our city. 
“But we need to keep growing it and I look forward to hopefully leading the way.
“We’ve got Zach Parker doing the big Frank Warren show in Derby at the Pride Park Stadium. Sandy is doing well and Myron Mills so we’ve got loads of good boxers. 
“We just need to bring the next lot though now. I’m involved with the amateurs at One Nation and it’s the place to be, it’s buzzing and it’s going to keep growing.”
Scarff hopes his own son Harry Jr, 6, could be coming through the Derby boxing ranks soon. 
He continued: “You want to do well for your kids. It’s an inspiration and a driving force behind training hard.
“Little Harry Jr comes to the gym with us and does kickboxing with an ex-pro and then comes and does a bit of boxing. He loves it.
“I love being a dad and that’s testament to my partner. She is spot on, looks after the kids and does most of the work. I get the fun job.” More
