      The pair are often embroiled in a war of words, with Fury ripping into AJ last week claiming he had tried to make a fight against Joshua six times.
      Now though both fighters have given the other shock praise.
      While AJ told SunSport Fury is “one of the lads”, Fury yesterday slammed the “bulls**t” criticism of Joshua that came after his first defeat to Usyk.
      The retired Gypsy King said on Instagram: “Tyson Fury [here] and this is my defence of AJ. Everyone’s saying, ‘AJ’s a bum.’ He’s this, he’s that, ‘He can’t fight’ because he’s lost a few [fights].

      Curious Simon tracked down his extended family to Galway and visited them in 2019 – sadly learning his birth-mum Rosemary Ruane, had died in 1985.
      He was told the unmarried hotel manager was one of nine daughters from the same Catholic family and had travelled to London to give birth after falling pregnant.
      Simon was born in Newham, London, in 1980 and put up for adoption through the Catholic Children’s Society.
      He was placed with retired British Aerospace scientist Mike Edwards and former healthcare worker Sue, who he still considers to be ‘his real parents’.
      During his 2019 visit Simon’s new-found family revealed to him his dad was Bob, who was an Irish-American baseball player, who visiting his family’s land in Galway in 1979.
      The Colonel’s family owned the land where Simon’s mum worked in a hotel and she befriended the US star before they had an affair.

      Overjoyed Bob said: “I was lost for words when I was told, I have spent every day on the phone with Colonel Jnr.
      “It has given me a new lease of life and I’m looking forward to the reunion with junior in Las Vegas later this year.
      “I can’t wait to just have a beer with my son and getting to know him. I love him more than words express.”
      Bob told SunSport: “I had just buried my wife.
      “I was besides myself when the chaplain from my military regiment said to be ‘I know you feel cheated by the Lord, but remember he only gave his own son 33 years on this Earth.
      “I got home and had a Guinness and I really felt like I had nothing left in my life.
      “Then I got a call from an agency saying, ‘You have a 41-year-old son – and I said ‘are you sure?’
      “They said all you have to do is see him once and you’ll know he’s your son. He looks just like you, he’s a great athlete like you.
      “I was thinking, an hour ago I had nothing to live for – now I have a son.
      “I asked how did this happen? Then I remembered this lovely girl I had been dating before I met my wife.”

      Sheridan explained: “She was the manager of the Shannon Shamrock hotel where I had my farm there.
      “Rosie told me I could go into the hotel for whatever I needed, a shower, food – anything.
      “I asked her what would she get out of it? And she said, ‘I want you’.
      “It seemed like a simple request for the likes of me and we were lovers and that’s when Simon was conceived.”
      The Colonel added: “The first time I spoke to him I knew he was my boy. He sounds like me, he talks the same way as me.
      “My sports number was always six, Simon told me he played high level cricket and football and his number was always six.
      “Even down to the number on our uniforms we were the same.
      “It’s just been such a blessing, I can’t wait to meet him and take him to meet my brother’s family in Boston.
      “I only wish my wife had lived to see our son.”
      Sheridan is famous for his booming baritone and has called ringside action for over 10,000 fights, including nearly 1,000 world title bouts and 100 heavyweight title fights.
      He is known as the Colonel because of his rank in the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts.
      The Colonel says the relationship has been confirmed by DNA, making him the ‘only heir to my fortune’.
      Simon, who also stewards at Lord’s so he can be part of the cricket, has a day job as a senior credit controller.

      Saudi Arabia have also offered BT Sport the chance to bid, as well as a terrestrial TV channel.
      DAZN are confident they will get the rights to the fight because of their deal with AJ, but nothing has been agreed as of yet.
      Saudi Arabia would rather the publicity and coverage that comes with broadcasting the clash on Sky, but the fact AJ has quit Sky means the company are reluctant.
      Especially if AJ goes on to win and sets up a potential big-money unification fight against Tyson Fury, which Sky would miss out on.

      When quizzed on the UK broadcast situation, Hearn told iFL TV: “[It’s] being discussed at the moment.
      “Part of this deal, Saudi Arabia own those rights, global rights and they’re negotiating those as we go at the moment.
      “We know that AJ is obviously on a broadcast deal, long-term broadcast deal with DAZN.
      “This fight is separate to that because of those negotiations but I’m sure they’re in the market to win that race as well.
      “We’ll see what happens, over to those guys on that and I’m sure it will be finalised very soon.”
      Hearn went on to reveal there is not a current favourite in the race to win broadcast rights in the UK, but the fight will likely go to whoever tables the biggest offer.
      When asked who was favourite to screen the fight he continued: “I’m not involved in those discussions, so I couldn’t tell you. But the favourite will generally be the one that pays the most money.”

      But officials would not let him pass as a pedestrian. Thankfully he met another Ukrainian crossing in his car so they loaded up in his vehicle and progressed.
      It took him around two days to get home, with the road trip from the border to his home ten hours alone.
      TAKING UP ARMS
      By February 28, Usyk was already defending his people with a machine gun over his shoulder.
      He joined the Kyiv Territorial Defence military group to defend the area where he and his family live and, together with his friends, they formed a group to defend their territory.
      Our source revealed: “He had a machine gun, as everyone in the group did. It was loaded but he was praying every day that it would remain silent so he would never have to shoot.
      “Thankfully God heard his prayers and he never had to.
      “But another house he lived in previously was attacked and occupied by Russians.”
      Usyk stayed in the basement of his house, together with all the guests who came to celebrate his daughter’s birthday.
      He lost around 22lb in weight during his time, too stressed to train or eat well.

      FIGHT OR FLIGHT
      Around March 25 — after almost a month of life-or-death hiding and patrolling — Usyk took to social media to confirm, after some deep soul searching, the rematch was agreed and he would be leaving Kyiv.
      The wannabe Hollywood actor was against leaving Ukraine so had asked his wife Yekaterina to leave and take their children to a safe place. She said she would never leave Ukraine without him.
      Usyk’s devotion to his country would not let him leave instantly so he stayed a couple more weeks and spent time with the military guards and his friends on the front line.
      He met them and talked to them and visited hospitals with the wounded soldiers.
      But Ukraine’s brightest minds and most powerful voices finally convinced him he could achieve more on the world sporting stage than on the front line.
      He spoke to many powerful people and they all advised him on returning to boxin. His team then officially applied to the minister of sport to give Usyk and his team permission to leave the country and start his training camp.
      They received that official permission from sports minister Vadym Gutzeit after he spoke to the President and Prime Minister Zelensky and they all confirmed Usyk should go and represent Ukraine on the world scene.

      HUNGARY FOR SUCCESS
      Usyk and his small and dedicated team met in Western Ukraine and drove across the border to Hungary and stayed in Budapest for a night. Then they moved to the Czech Republic.
      Despite reports, the convoy never crossed the border into Poland and never stayed in Poland.
      Team Usyk stayed in the Czech Republic for around two weeks, starting his training camp there together with Polissya Zhytomyr, the football team he made his debut for in a February 4 friendly.
      When the fight was confirmed the group made their way to Dubai via car and plane and set up home in the Box IQ gym where he hopes to acclimatise quicker and better than AJ, who remains in Loughborough.

      STATE OF EMERGENCY AND MIND
      Usyk looked refuelled and powerful at the Jeddah media events last week. He won their face-off at the press conference, forcing AJ to break their stare first.
      The maverick danced in the mocked-up ring right in front of Joshua, while filming a promo, and then threw more shapes with ringside fans.
      The champ, we are told, is back to his terrifying best and already has WBC champ Tyson Fury on his busy mind.
      Our insider said: “It is true that Usyk lost a lot of weight but most Ukrainians lost a lot of weight at the start of the war because you cannot feel hungry sitting around in a basement hiding from explosions.

      Piquet – world champion in 1981, 83 and 87 – is facing a lifelong F1 ban from ALL future races amid calls to axe his access to F1’s VIP paddock.
      He reacted to the race storm ahead of this weekend’s British GP with a statement in which he denied making a racist comment against Hamilton.
      Instead, the 69-year-old, who is the father of Max Verstappen’s girlfriend, said he was mistranslated but did admit his comments were ill-thought and issued an apology to Hamilton.
