THE excitement is building for the undisputed light-heavyweight title clash between Artur Beterbiev and Joe Smith Jr on June 18.Beterbiev, who is the WBC and IBF light-heavyweight champion, beat Marcus Browne in his last fight to retain those titles and also continued his undefeated knockout-to-win ratio.

Smith Jr beat Maxim Vlasov back in 2021 for the WBO title and was able to defend that title against Geffrard in January with a victory via TKO.
Smith Jr and Beterbiev will put all of their titles on the line so one man will walk away as the undisputed light-heavyweight champion.
Everything has been put on the line for this fight, while Beterbiev will be desperate to stay undefeated. The winner is expected to fight Dimitry Bivol.
When is Beterbiev vs Smith Jr?
The undisputed title clash will take place during the late hours of Saturday, June 18 in the US.
The fight will be held inside Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theatre in New York City, USA.
There will be close to 5,600 fans in attendance at the fight.
Ring walks are expected to be on at Sunday 4:30 am BST and Saturday at 11:30 pm ET.

And it is there Ward, 38, revealed his apparent desire to fight YouTuber-turned boxer Paul, 25.
Mayweather, 45, said: “I spoke to Andre Ward, you guys seen us talking on stage, you know, at the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
“We was talking on stage. You know, Andre Ward was talking to me.

Ward hung up his gloves at 32-0 in 2017 after consecutive light-heavyweight wins over Sergey Kovalev, now 39.
And he amazingly snubbed offers to fight Tony Bellew, 39, at cruiserweight and heavyweight Anthony Joshua, 32, to stay retired.
Paul meanwhile is 5-0 and makes his return on August 6 at New York’s famed Madison Square Garden.

Crawford, 34, recently told EsNews: “Top five? – Man that’s hard, why you put me on the spot?”
Then Crawford went on to list his top five, “I’ve got me, I got Canelo, I’ve got Errol [Spence Jr], I got [Naoya] Inoue, [Oleksandr] Usyk.”
It means WBC heavyweight champion Fury, 33, not ranked with Ring Magazine, was left off the list but Usyk, 35, included.
Crawford then went on to explain that he does not believe he gets the credit he deserves in boxing but reckons he will after retirement.
Crawford said: “I feel like I’m never given the credit I rightfully deserve, but it’ll come when I retire
“As far as the rankings are I believe I am already number one.
Crawford continues to be linked to a mouthwatering match up with fellow unbeaten welterweight champ Errol Spence Jr.
The Texan, who beat Yordenis Ugas on April 16, recently expressed his interest in finally facing Crawford after years of speculation with the pair.

Fury could be waiting in the wings having confirmed his interest in coming out of retirement to fight the winner – but only if the money is right.
And even when putting his friendship aside, Parker claimed the Gypsy King has the beating of AJ and Usyk, likely by KO too.

The two would go on the box three rounds in the famed London gym and Murphy gave his account of how it played out.
He revealed: “When they got in there for the first round, Tyson was just thinking it was going to be easy and light.
“He’s quite relaxed, and Josh is hitting him with a setup one-two left hook uppercut and sort of wobbled him.
“So, it was like, ‘Oh, f***ing hell, this is serious now.’ We won the first round.
“Second round Tyson started to give him a little bit of verbal, sort of getting in his head. Tyson won the second round.
“So I gave Josh a bollocking, ‘What the f*** are you doing! Calm down, you’re letting him get into your head now. He’s beating you. Go back out and box like you did in the first round.’

“I knew now Tyson is going to turn it on with Josh. I said, ‘Nah, nah, nah, you only asked for three rounds, that’s what you’re getting.'”

Tyson at the time had offered to put his Rolex on the line to any sparring partner that could floor him.
According to Murphy, Joshua came close to winning the luxury watch.
And the coach admitted he would have allowed for more rounds – had Fury been willing to pay for it.
Murphy said: “So, Josh got out, but Tyson did have another round with a lad called Stacey who was training for a White Collar fight.
“I did ask Tyson before they sparred, ‘Are you going to weigh him in?’
“He said, ‘What do you mean weigh him in?’ I said, ‘Are you going to pay him?’ He went, ‘No, no, no, we don’t do that.’
“So, I did say if you had paid him I would’ve got him to do more rounds with you. I knew what the crack was.
‘IS THE ROLEX UP FOR GRABS?’
“He was going to put more on in the fourth round. Josh was an amateur and at the time he doesn’t need that.
“So we did three rounds and that was that. I asked Tyson, ‘Is the Rolex for grabs?’
“He just laughed. He was a really nice fella, I must admit. He was a down to earth man, and he’s a genuine person.”
The relevance of that sparring session still remains unclear, with Joshua, 32, and Fury, 33, yet to fight each other.
After Oleksandr Usyk, 35, beat AJ in September it dashed the chances of a Battle of Britain.
And the domestic derby faced a further knock back when Fury knocked out Dillian Whyte, 34, in April and announced his retirement.
But, hope is not all lost with Joshua set to rematch Usyk in Saudi Arabia on August 20.
