Andy Ruiz Jr shows off incredible body transformation in photoshoot ahead of mouthwatering clash against Luis Ortiz

ANDY RUIZ JR has revealed an incredible body transformation ahead of his heavyweight clash against Luis Ortiz. The 32-year-old makes his return to the ring in a clash with the Cuban on Sunday in California.

Ruiz Jr hasn’t fought since a points victory over Chris Arreola in May 2021, and has since left Canelo Alvarez’s trainer Eddy Reynoso.
And the ‘Destroyer’ has shared a pre-fight behind-the-scenes video on his Twitter account displaying a shocking transformation.
He can be seen flexing in the ad with a shredded torso and ripped upper body.
The Mexican-American was dropped in his win over Arreola, and there were concerns about his ideal fighting weight in the aftermath of the fight.

He was down to 18st 2lb for the Arreola fight but the snickers-loving heavyweight champion had previously ballooned weighing in at over 20 stone.
Ruiz is now back to 19st, where he revealed he was most comfortable, but he has packed on some muscle judging by the teaser footage.
His opponent Ortiz, 43, is widely-known for his two fights with Deontay Wilder, who won both fights by knockout.
But ‘King Kong’ gave Wilder an incredibly tough first fight, coming close to stopping the American, before winning every round in the rematch until a 7th-round stoppage.

And since that fight, Ortiz has won both his bouts, one against Alexander Flores and the other against former world champion Charles Martin, who the 43-year-old stopped in six rounds.
As well as Ruiz Jr vs Ortiz, the card will also have a brilliant lightweight clash between Isaac Cruz against Eduardo Ramirez.
And top lightweight talent Jose Valenzuela is also in action in a tough bout against Jezreel Corrales.

That included 68 wins by knockout – with 23 of those in the first round – giving him a 76.4 per cent knockout ratio.
‘The Acorn’ twice lost out as a challenger for world titles.
That included defeat to Ali in 1977 – a unanimous points decision after 15 rounds at Madison Square Garden with the WBA, WBC, and The Ring belts on the line.
Shavers’ other world-title shot came when he lost on a technical knockout against Larry Holmes two years later.

He had ten children – nine daughters and one son – including five girls Tamara, Cynthia, Catherine, Carla, and Amy from his marriage to Laverne Payne.
Tributes poured in on social media from the boxing world after the devastating news that came just a day after his birthday.

‘Don’t see them working together again’ – Anthony Joshua tipped to LEAVE Robert Garcia for ‘showing his weaknesses’

ANTHONY JOSHUA’S coach Robert Garcia has been accused of “showing his weaknesses” following recent comments made. AJ linked up with American Garcia for the first time before his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.

But Joshua was beaten for the second time on points by the Ukrainian.
Garcia raised eyebrows in a Spanish-speaking interview with IZQUIERDAZO, when saying Joshua “defeated himself”.
And although the trainer said his words were mistranslated, light-heavyweight Dan Azeez fears the damage has been done.
Azeez, 33, told Sky Sports: “I don’t see them working together again and even him coming out now with the mental stuff.
“Maybe people don’t say it to him behind closed doors, but I think it’s something maybe they should have said behind closed doors not come out and say it in public.

“You’re already showing his weaknesses now. Everyone says boxing is 80 per cent mental.
“If your own trainer who’s spent how many weeks with you is saying he’s not mentally strong or insinuating that’s a big thing.”
Garcia is quoted as saying: “During that ninth round, in the corner [we] were telling ourselves we had the fight.

“Oleksandr Usyk came back stronger. I’ve even thought in these last few days that it was Joshua who mentally defeated himself.
“Joshua was mentally defeated since round ten or 11. Round ten was a big one for Usyk.
“That changed the whole fight, and mentally we were defeated.”
Joshua, 32, is set to return in either December or January following consecutive losses to Usyk, 35.
AJ recently returned to Finchley ABC, his first gym, meanwhile Garcia defended his comments.
I don’t see them working together again and even him coming out now with the mental stuff.Dan Azeez on Anthony Joshua and Robert Garcia
He told ESNews: “I spoke to a Spanish reporter that I know so I gave him a little interview, but from Spanish translated to English, they make it seem like, ‘Oh, Robert is talking s***’, pretty much.
“I wouldn’t say that about my fighters, man. I’ve never done it before and I never will. “The headline is, ‘Robert says Anthony mentally beat himself’ but I never said that.
“I said that Usyk after being hurt really bad in the ninth he came in the tenth like that never happened, he came strong which you’ve got to applaud that.
“So that’s not saying ‘oh, Anthony was beat mentally’. Usyk came back strong and dominated those three rounds.

“I said, ‘Look, Usyk being the winner, the champion and Anthony grabbing the belts that’s disrespecting the champion’.
“But Anthony was frustrated. F*** he hates to lose. He came back and apologised and everything was good.”

Deontay Wilder says Anthony Joshua ‘ran out of gas’ against Oleksandr Usyk and has ‘a serious stamina problem’

DEONTAY WILDER claims Anthony Joshua has “a serious stamina problem” and “ran out of gas” against Oleksandr Usyk. AJ was first beaten by Usyk in September 2021 but lost the rematch in Saudi Arabia just last month.

Joshua, 32, pushed Ukraine’s pound-for-pound star, 35, all the way but was edged out on a split-decision.
Former WBC champion Wilder, 36, put the loss down to AJ’s inability to keep up with the pace.
He told ESNews: “He has a serious stamina problem.
“We know he would be very cautious of what happened before and, as you see, it was very cautious of him throwing punches and different things like that.

“So the best man won that night. Joshua did exactly what we expected him to do and run out of gas.”
Following consecutive defeats, Joshua now faces a rebuilding job, which his promoter Eddie Hearn hopes to start in December.
Whereas Wilder, 36, returns on October 15 in New York against ex-sparring parter Robert Helenius, 38.
WBA, IBF and WBO champion Usyk and is set to unify his belts with Tyson Fury’s WBC belt in a historic heavyweight undisputed decider.

And Wilder has backed old rival Fury, 34, to become the first to reign with all four heavyweight straps.
He referenced the Gypsy King’s knockout win over ex-cruiserweight Steve Cunningham when predicting the result.
He said: “I think Fury is too big for him. One thing he’s got for him is just his size.
“I look at that fight as like a Cunningham, someone who dominates him but when he gets tired, he looked to lean and all s*** like that.
“But anything is possible, you can’t look past that. You can’t look over Usyk’s skill and ability to manoeuvre around the ring.”

Andy Ruiz Jr eating fried chicken and refusing to diet for Luis Ortiz fight as Anthony Joshua’s ex-rival reveals weight

ANDY RUIZ JR is back at the weight where shocked the world – on a lax diet including fried chicken. Ruiz shot to fame in June 2019 when he became the first man to defeat Anthony Joshua, following a seventh-round stoppage.

The day beforehand, the Mexican-American hit the scales at 268lb, 19st, where he revealed he was most comfortable.
And ahead of his return against Luis Ortiz this weekend, live on FITE TV, Ruiz is back at his optimum weight with the help of fried chicken chain Cane’s.
He said: “I’ve been doing everything that I’ve been supposed to do.
“I don’t want to say a lot of stuff but yesterday we ate Cane’s – I’m not in a big diet, you know? I’ve been eating good.

“The main thing and the most important thing is just putting the hard work inside of the gym.
“So weight – it goes off and it comes back on whenever it does. We’re just focused on boxing. 260lb, I’m in the 60s.
“So I weigh exactly what [I did] when I fought Anthony Joshua. But having more ability, you know, moving around. I feel good.”
Ruiz, 32, lost his rematch with Joshua, 32, in Saudi Arabia six months after winning the belts having ballooned up to 20 STONE.

He got back down to 18st 2lb for his comeback fight against Chris Arreola, 41, in May of last year but the win was less than convincing.
So Ruiz is returning to what got him to the top of the division as he eyes another run back to the titles.
His fight with Ortiz, 43, has also been named as an eliminator for the WBC title Tyson Fury, 34, currently holds.

Deontay Wilder’s manager hails ‘gutsy’ Anthony Joshua and leaves door open for future talks with Eddie Hearn over fight

ANTHONY JOSHUA was hailed for his “gusty” performance against Oleksandr Usyk by Deontay Wilder’s manager – amid interest in a super-fight. AJ was beaten on points by Ukraine’s pound-for-pound great for the second time in the space of a year.

Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel watched in admiration as Joshua, 32, challenged unbeaten Usyk, 35, twice on the spin despite losing.
It now leaves AJ and his promoter Eddie Hearn with a rebuilding job on their hands, which they hope to begin in December.
And Hearn named Wilder as a potential opponent in Joshua’s comeback trail, something Finkel is prepared to discuss.
He told SunSport: “He was gutsy to go right back into the fight when he clearly lost the one.

“But it really depends mentally what Joshua feels he needs.
“If he needs to take a break and take a fight as a comeback fight or if he feels the real redemption is with Deontay, we’re open to it.”
Wilder, 36, returns himself on October 15 against former sparring partner Robert Helenius, 38, in New York.
Hearn revealed he approached Finkel before AJ’s rematch with Usyk to discuss a future fight with the Bronze Bomber but did not hear back.

Finkel confirmed he did receive an email to ring Hearn, but neither Joshua nor Wilder were directly mentioned in the message.
And he is unwilling to look past Helenius, which is Wilder’s first fight since losing to Tyson Fury, 34, in their epic October 2021 trilogy bout.
Finkel said: “Right now, we have one fight on our mind, and nothing else, which is Helenius.
“Because, if he doesn’t do what he’s supposed to do with Helenius, the rest doesn’t matter.”
Joshua and Wilder, unbeaten at the time, were in 2019 negotiating a huge undisputed title decider, but to no avail.
Although the public demand for the fight, despite both losing twice in a row, is almost as great as ever.
It leaves Finkel prepared to try again with Hearn in the future.
He said: “I’m not closed to it. I would never just walk away from it.

“If there’s a big offer there for that fight and Eddie wants to talk about it, at that point we’ll figure out what to do.
“If it’s meant to be this time – which it wasn’t in the past – it will happen. If it’s not meant to be, we’ll go our way and they’ll go theirs.
“It’s had a couple of years to build up, it’s like Mayweather and Pacquaio for an example, it didn’t lose any glamour at that time.”

Mr Burton was fatally stabbed outside a bar on Goose Green in Altrincham, Greater Manchester, in the early hours of August 21.
Tributes poured in for Mr Burton after his death, led by the boxer’s heavyweight champ cousin Tyson Fury.
In his tribute, the boxing champ said: “Life is very precious and it can be taken away very quick. Enjoy every moment.”
The two-time world heavyweight champion, from Wythenshawe, also called for an end to knife crime in a post on his social media channels following his cousin’s tragic death.
Today, Mr Burton’s family and friends bid him an emotional goodbye during a service at St Michael’s Church in Urmston.

Pictures showed mourners arriving for the service earlier on carriages and trailers. One was being pulled by a horse.
One trailer carried a huge, white floral arrangement, while another carried flowers that spelt out his name. Dozens are expected to turn out to pay their respects to Mr Burton at the service.
Speaking after Mr Burton’s death, Shaun Egan, who previously coached Mr Burton at Jimmy Egan’s Boxing Academy, described him as “such a nice lad”.
Mr Egan said: “He was an absolute talent. He was such a nice lad, he was hard-working and had a great sense of humour.

“What’s happened is just awful. He was just a great guy. To hear he has died like this is devastating.”
Liam O’Prey, 21, of no fixed address, has been charged with his murder and a string of other offences.
Mr O’Prey appeared at Manchester Crown Court on Friday charged with Mr Burton’s murder. He faces four counts relating to the same incident.
