Usyk won by split decision and even picked up the Ring Magazine title, which was vacated by WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
But much of the Ukrainian’s heroic performance was overshadowed by Joshua’s post-fight outburst.
It saw the British star take the microphone to produce a bizarre speech, all after chucking two of Usyk’s belt out of the ring.
And despite the setback, Joshua is determined to make a great comeback in boxing.

Usyk says the division’s first ever four-belt unification fight against Fury must wait until next year – but if it “Fury floats away” Joshua 3 is an option.
He said: “Fighting Tyson Fury in December is impossible. First, I have old injuries.
“Second, I just don’t want to box in December. I haven’t left the gym for half a year, I want to be with my children, my family.
“Boxing can wait a little. Next year I think it will happen.”
He added: “If Fury floats away, then maybe we will agree on a third fight with Joshua.” More

Ruiz Jr hasn’t fought since a points victory over Chris Arreola in May 2021, and has since left Canelo Alvarez’s trainer Eddy Reynoso.
And the ‘Destroyer’ has shared a pre-fight behind-the-scenes video on his Twitter account displaying a shocking transformation.
He can be seen flexing in the ad with a shredded torso and ripped upper body.
The Mexican-American was dropped in his win over Arreola, and there were concerns about his ideal fighting weight in the aftermath of the fight.

He was down to 18st 2lb for the Arreola fight but the snickers-loving heavyweight champion had previously ballooned weighing in at over 20 stone.
Ruiz is now back to 19st, where he revealed he was most comfortable, but he has packed on some muscle judging by the teaser footage.
His opponent Ortiz, 43, is widely-known for his two fights with Deontay Wilder, who won both fights by knockout.
But ‘King Kong’ gave Wilder an incredibly tough first fight, coming close to stopping the American, before winning every round in the rematch until a 7th-round stoppage.

KSI has suite at Arsenal’s Emirates with punch machine in it… but Logan Paul’s security punched it so hard it BROKE

LOGAN PAUL revealed KSI has a punch machine in his Arsenal suite – at least he did until his security BROKE it. KSI – real name Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji – is a massive Gooner and as a result appears to have a box at the Emirates.

And the YouTuber-turned boxer recently announced a sponsorship deal with Arsenal alongside former opponent and friend Paul.
KSI, whose nickname among pals is JJ, recently returned to the ring, beating TWO opponents in one night at the O2 Arena.
And Paul went to watch from ringside, having seen Arsenal beat Fulham 2-1 earlier in the day.
It was there he alongside his podcast hosts Mike Majlak and George Janko visited KSI’s box, and broke his punch machine.

Majlak said: “Thank you to JJ once again, not only for smoothing things over with the UK audience but also giving us his suite.
“Which was incredible, that had a punching bag in it that our stupid American asses spent the majority of the game trying to beat his record, which was 740.
“No one was able to do it until our massive security detail – he’s a brick wall – he hit the bag once and not only did he break the record, he broke the machine.
“The bag detached, the metal screw evaporated immediately. So JJ, we broke your machine and we’re sorry.”

KSI, 29, drew with Paul, 27, in 2018 before winning their rematch by split-decision a year later.

However, he has since called out the Ukrainian for a blockbuster fight in December, which Usyk has said he can’t do because he’s nursing injuries and wants to spend time with his children. More

But the Ukrainian hero – who started his amateur career at middleweight – has ruled himself out until next year.
That sparked a furious reaction from Fury, who wants the first ever four-belt heavyweight unification before Christmas.
He said: “Usyk, middleweight; you say you want the WBC and it’s held by gypsies, it is held by gypsies, it’s held by the Gypsy King.
“And it’s held tightly, grasped tight and all rounds lead to a seven-foot behemoth that will destroy you, middleweight.

“I’m a seven-foot, 20 stone behemoth and I will destroy you, middleweight. Find your balls and come see me, bitch.”
Fury, 34, claimed he was retiring after knocking out Dillian Whyte, 34, in April unless he was paid £500MILLION to return.
And after again Usyk, 35, outpointed Joshua, 32, the Gypsy King accepted the pound-for-pound star’s challenge.
But he wanted a deal signed and sealed by September, despite his own team revealing February was the likely unification date.
Usyk returned to his war-torn home with a heroes welcome having spent months away from his loved ones while training.
And now, the 2012 Olympic gold medalist and unbeaten professional is ready for down time with family and friends.

But the unified world champion has spoken out to defend AJ, who also apologised for his actions a day after the heartbreaking loss.
Usyk said at a press conference: “I don’t hold a grudge against him. He was upset. I’d be upset if I lost twice.

Initially, Fury claimed he would only put up his WBC belt if he was guaranteed £500MILLION and a deal in place by September.

And he could be set for a sensational rematch with Mayweather in the next year, if recent reports are to be believed.
The UFC superstar made his ring debut in 2017, losing in ten rounds to all-time great Mayweather.
In the open workout before the fight, McGregor was ridiculed for his unusual warm up in the ring before hitting various bags for 12 rounds at the UFC’s Performance Institute in Las Vegas.
McGregor returned to his first ever boxing coaches at the Crumlin amateur club, with former Olympian Phil Sutcliffe, for the first time ever, cornering him in the octagon.
Before he beat Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds in 2020, McGregor was filmed back at the UFC’s PI.
There the southpaw revealed he is sitting down on his punches to generate more power, opposed to his more unconventional karate-style strikes displayed three years ago.
McGregor said: “I actually look at the Mayweather [fight], the shots on the bag and the way I was punching and I actually can’t even watch that.
“I shiver when I see the way I was throwing my punches back then. I just wasn’t sitting right on them, just floating through the air.

“Now I’m getting into positions and sitting in. Got to go through everything to learn, to truly learn. Experience is the best teacher of all.”

They will now instead work alongside those who first taught McGregor how to box.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER has well and truly lived up to his ‘Money’ nickname by dominating the list of highest earning boxing fights of all time. The pay-per-view king divided opinions throughout his 50-0 career but always delivered results in the ring – both in terms of performance and pay cheque.

And here, SunSport runs down the most lucrative fights of all time.
    1. Mayweather vs Pacquiao, May 2015
Dubbed ‘Fight of The Century’, fans’ five-year wait for the two pound-for-pound kings to meet finally ended in 2015.
Unfortunately, despite the longwinded build-up the bout did not deliver in terms of excitement – but did so in revenue.
Mayweather’s tactical masterclass as he outpointed Pacquiao sold a record 4.6m PPVs and recorded the highest gate in history.
Their purses were also unprecedented, as the fight became the richest of all time.
Mayweather vs Pacquiao breakdownPPV – £333million
    Gate – £58.7m
    Mayweather’s purse: £223.5m
    Pacquiao’s purse: £122m

    2. Mayweather vs McGregor, August 2017
After it was announced UFC star McGregor would cross over to face Mayweather, it was instantly called ‘The Money Fight’.
And it lived up to its name as the figures show.
But it did not manage to surpass the PPV and gate record previously set two years before by Mayweather and Pacquiao.
Mayweather, who won in ten rounds, matched the purse he made against PacMan, while McGregor’s net worth skyrocketed after his commendable boxing debut.
Mayweather vs McGregor breakdownPPV – £325m

    3. Mayweather vs Canelo, September 2013
When Canelo challenged the pound-for-pound No1, boxing fans tuned it to see if the puzzle to beating Mayweather could finally be solved.
But yet again Money came out on top with a points decision and laughed all the way to the bank as the fight broke a then PPV record with 2.2m sales and £120m in revenue.
Despite over 16,000 packing into MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the gate for the headliner only brought in £20m.
Still it ranks as the third richest fight in boxing history, with Canelo going on to become a star of his own since the humbling defeat.

    4. Mayweather vs De La Hoya, May 2007
When Mayweather stepped up to light-middleweight to beat De La Hoya – it was the last time he would do so as the B-side fighter.
The win cemented the brash American – then known as ‘Pretty Boy Floyd’ – as the sport’s No1.
It initially broke box office records and Mayweather adopted the Money nickname afterwards.
Although a lucrative rematch failed to materialise, it was one of many mega-money paydays for Mayweather.

    Gate – £15m
    De la Hoya’s purse: £42m
    Mayweather’s purse: £20m

    5. Evander Holyfield vs Mike Tyson II, 1997
After Holyfield outboxed and stopped Tyson for the heavyweight title in 1996, it set up a lucrative rematch the following year.
But it would be remembered for all the wrong reasons, as Tyson twice bit Holyfield before being disqualified in round three.
Later known as the ‘Bite Fight’ it raked in 1,990,000 PPV buys – still the highest number bought for a heavyweight fight.
Their purses made up the highest combined figure for any fight until it was broken ten years later.
    Holyfield vs Tyson 2 breakdownPPV – £81.4m
    Gate – £11.6m
    Holyfield purse: £28.4m

    6. Lennox Lewis vs Mike Tyson, 2002
Lewis and Tyson finally settled the score in 2002 – but it came too late.
Tyson was a fading heavyweight while Lewis reigned as the undisputed champion, going on to win in round eight.
Highly-priced tickets finally managed to sell with 15,000 attending the fight and breaking box office records.
Despite selling less than Tyson’s rematch against Holyfield, it still raked in £90m in PPV sales.
Lewis vs Tyson breakdownPPV – £90m
    Gate – £14.2m
    Lewis: £14.2m
