Deontay Wilder says Anthony Joshua was ‘made’ to fight but he was ‘born to do it’ and still wants to ‘whoop that ass’

DEONTAY WILDER has claimed Anthony Joshua was “made” to fight whereas he was “born to do it”. Both the former heavyweight champions had late starts to the sport, with AJ only picking up the gloves at 18.

And Wilder was 20 when he began boxing in a bid to raise money for his daughter, who suffered from spina bifida.
Joshua won Olympic gold in 2012, only five years into his journey.
And similarly, Wilder was a bronze medallist only three years after picking up the sport, having medalled in Beijing.
Despite their similar starts in the sport, the American insisted he does not compare to AJ.

He said on the Last Stand Podcast: “They made Anthony Joshua.
“They made him. We’re born to do it, not made. Even the Olympics, they gave him that medal.
“They bought a lot of the belts. The way they moved him and prepared him for certain moments, he was not ready for it.”
Joshua, 32, and Wilder, 36, were in talks for an undisputed super-fight in 2019 but a deal failed to materialise.

The Bronze Bomber went on to complete a trilogy with Tyson Fury, 34, drawing in 2018 but losing the subsequent rematches.
Whereas Joshua most recently lost twice on the spin to Oleksandr Usyk, 35, although he is close to agreeing a shock deal to fight Fury next.
Wilder returns on October 15 against Robert Helenius, 38, but insisted his score with AJ still needs to be settled.
He said: “Still wanna whoop that ass. I’m not gonna rob the fans of not making that fight happen. I definitely want that fight to happen.
“I just wanna know if they’re for real.”

Mike Tyson stopped watching Jake Paul sparring session after 30 SECONDS… as he wanted to ‘look at pictures’

MIKE TYSON watched Jake Paul spar for 30 SECONDS… as he wanted to look at pictures in the boxing gym. Legendary coach Freddie Roach – who once worked with Tyson – revealed Paul trained in his famous WildCard gym in Los Angeles.
Jake Paul pictured with Mike Tyson in 2020Credit: Twitter @jakepaul
And heavyweight legend Iron Mike happened to be there the same day when the YouTuber-turned boxer was sparring.
But according to Hall of Famer Roach, the boxing icon had little interest in watching Paul and preferred to tour the gym walls.
Roach told FightHype: “Tyson looked at him and left.
“He saw 30 seconds of him sparring and said, ‘Freddie, can we go down and see the pictures?’

“He knows that’s where the good pictures are. He wasn’t as interested as I was.”
Tyson, 56, helped launch Paul’s boxing career with a spot on his undercard in 2020.
At the time, the social media sensation had won his professional boxing debut by beating online rival “AnEsonGib” in one round.
Tyson returned to the ring after 15 years out and drew with Roy Jones Jr, 53, in an exhibition bout.

But Paul, 25, stole the show as he brutally knocked out ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 38, in two rounds.
Since then, he has beaten former UFC pair Ben Askren, 38, and Tyron Woodley, 40, knocking the ex-UFC champion out in their rematch.
Paul returns on October 29 in Arizona against UFC legend Anderson Silva, 47, who also has a 4-1 boxing record.
It is unclear when the American visited Roach’s gym but it is safe to say Manny Pacquiao’s mentor was not overly impressed.
He said: “The kid’s OK, a club fighter.
“I don’t know him personally and I’ve never really met him. He was in my gym and wondered if they could use the ring and I said go ahead.”

Jake Paul declined $30MILLION to fight ex-UFC champion Vitor Belfort, claims rival Hasim Rahman Jr

And afterwards, the ex-UFC champion and now-defunct boxing promotion Triller claimed to have $30m ready for Paul.
And Rahman – who saw a bout with the YouTuber-turned boxer cancelled himself – claimed the £26m offer was not accepted.
He told The Schmo: “It is more-so about proving a point of why fake Paul was scared.
“He don’t want to fight Vitor — he declined that. They put $30million on the table for them to fight and he didn’t want to take that.

“And then now he didn’t want to fight me. So, these two guys that Jake Paul is obviously ducking and obviously scared of, now we going to fight.
“I don’t think any way the fight goes, I don’t think Jake is going to be in a hurry to get in the ring with either one of us.”
Rahman, 31, signed to replace Tommy Fury, 23, in August after the ex-Love Islander suffered a US visa issue.
But the heavyweight was unable to make the contracted 200lb weight and later saw it change to 205lb.

Then Paul, 25, claimed Rahman refused to fight any lower than 215lb, causing the Madison Square Garden headliner to be axed.
The American is now set to face UFC legend Anderson Silva, 47, in Arizona on October 29.
Meanwhile, Rahman returns in November against Belfort, topping a MisFits boxing card, headed up by Paul’s rival KSI.

Anthony Joshua’s trainer says ‘old Mike Tyson’ style is the ONLY way to beat ‘very difficult’ Oleksandr Usyk

ANTHONY JOSHUA’S trainer Robert Garcia claimed only a style akin to a prime Mike Tyson could beat Oleksandr Usyk. Garcia, a former world champion, was recruited by AJ for his heavyweight rematch with Usyk, who he’d lost to the previous year.

But it was a repeat result as Joshua came up short on points in Saudi Arabia last month.
It leaves ex-undisputed cruiserweight king Usyk still unbeaten in 20 fights and leading in boxing’s pound-for-pound list.
And according to Garcia, no one has the ferocious Iron Mike style needed to dethrone the Ukrainian.
He told FightHype: “Man, Usyk is very difficult.

“I don’t even know if there is any heavyweight that fights like that, but if we had a fighter like the old Mike Tyson, I think that style is probably the one that beats Usyk.
“But we don’t have anybody like that in the heavyweight division.
“As for the top guys, I don’t think there’s anyone who fights like Mike Tyson did, so maybe it’s going to be hard to find someone to beat him.”
Tyson, now 56, became the youngest heavyweight champion of all time in 1986, considered to be his most destructive of his era.

After Usyk, 35, retained the WBA, IBF and WBO belts, he called for an undisputed decider with WBC champion Tyson Fury, 34.
But he wanted to wait until next year after returning to his war-torn homeland for the first time, having left friends and family to train.
That did not fit into Fury’s plans of returning by the end of the year, so he unexpectedly turned his attention to Joshua, 32.
And despite consecutive defeats, AJ accepted a 60/40 challenger’s split in return of a world title shot.
Fury’s promoter Frank Warren said contracts have been sent to Joshua for a December 3 bout at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
