Anthony Joshua unveils plan to ‘expose cracks in Otto Wallin’s armoury’ as he admits defeat risks costing him his career

ANTHONY JOSHUA has unveiled how is ready to “expose cracks in Otto Wallin’s armoury” in his upcoming fight on Saturday. The Brit is making his final preps ahead of the showdown in Saudia Arabia against the Swede as a defeat could cost the fighter his career.

AJ, 34, is looking for a third win in a row after consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk, as he attempts to put himself into a position for more potential blockbuster fights in 2024.
Wallin has won all six of his fights since losing to Tyson Fury in 2019, but only one has come via knockout.
Going into the fight AJ is the favourite which could see him redeem his IBF title – currently held by Usyk.
And Joshua is desperate to show the Swede his A-game who he thinks does not look anywhere near the threat he did against Fury in Las Vegas.
    READ MORE IN BOXING
He said: “Sure, I’m the favourite, that’s been the case for pretty much every fight of my professional career but that doesn’t mean I’m overlooking my opponent, Otto Wallin.
“That said, he’s not in the calibre of fighter that I am.
“And there’s been a lot of talk. The more I hear it from him, the better I feel.
“He thinks he’s getting in my head, instead all he’s showing us is the cracks he’s got in his armoury, which I intend to expose.”

With a win over Wallin, potential mega-fights against Fury or Deontay Wilder are on the cards.
Wallin has had one loss in his professional career which was against Fury who he left covered in blood and needing 47 stitches above his eye during their close encounter four years ago.
But a loss on Saturday is not an option for the Brit who must secure a win if he wants to fight for a world title again.
AJ continued: “I can’t afford to lose on Saturday night. Defeat and there’s no talk of the next fight, of Deontay Wilder and becoming a three-time champion.
“That’s the stark reality of what I’m up against.
“Am I worried? Am I tense? No, not one bit. I arrived in Saudi Arabia feeling totally calm and relaxed, and that sensation hasn’t changed since coming here.
“A defeat would knock everything off-kilter – that’s always been the case – but I’m not even allowing myself to entertain the idea.”
The fight will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with ring-walks for the main event will likely get going from 11pm GMT. More

Joseph Parker fumes at ‘stupid question’ in Deontay Wilder press conference… and fans completely agree with him

JOSEPH PARKER lashed out at a “stupid question” after Deontay Wilder vowed to send him to sleep. Parker looks to KO Deontay Wilder’s super-fight with Anthony Joshua next year by upsetting the American on Saturday night.

But the hard-hitting Bronze Bomber – now nicknamed Doctor Sleep – warned that the New Zealander is in for an early night.
Wilder, 38, said: “End of the day, people have things to do. They wanna come and see a fight and after that they want to go party.
“So when you’re watching me don’t blink, I’m going to give you what you want to see.
“Nowadays my name is Doctor Sleep. And I’ve definitely got the NyQuil in the right hand so I hope he brings a pillow and a blanket.

“It gets a little chilly at night.”
Parker, 31, was not best pleased when press conference host Dev Sahni asked if he will be “bringing a pillow”.
He sharply replied: “Don’t ask me silly questions. That’s a stupid question, onto the next one.”
And fans were on Parker’s side as one said: “Disrespectful question to any fighter.”

Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder warned there will be an ‘UPSET’ on the cards… which will wreck 2024 fight plan

ANTHONY JOSHUA and Deontay Wilder have been warned an upset is on the cards in Saudi Arabia – which would wreck their super-fight. Behind the scenes, the pair of former world champions have agreed a deal to finally face off next year.

But a slip up for either KO’s the super-fightCredit: Getty
But, first, Joshua must beat Otto Wallin, while Wilder has to get past Joseph Parker on the same card in Saudi Arabia.
And Hall of Famer Frank Warren – who promotes Tyson Fury – believes a spanner could be thrown in the works come fight night.
Warren told talkSPORT: “Wallin and Parker are in these fights because they feel they’ve got a chance and they feel they can win and if they do win then they go on to bigger and better things next year.
“So, these are really going to be competitive fights, they certainly are on paper.

“And the rest of the card, a couple of them are really good quality fights, I feel like there must be an upset in there somewhere.”
Joshua, 34, and Wilder, 38, are being lined up for a March 9 showdown back in Saudi to at last settle their score.
So AJ knows anything but victory over Wallin could be potentially career ending.
Joshua admitted: “I’m looking to do a demolition job, 100 per cent. I am looking to do a good job. I will do a good job. I have purse focus on Saturday.

“It’s not hard to stay focused, I made that commitment in my life to stay fully locked in.
“I will perform and do my job. I can definitely also window shop in my life, but I also have to say that this is the checkpoint and if I don’t get past this then there is no future.”

Tyson Fury ‘to jet out to Saudi Arabia TWO MONTHS before Oleksandr Usyk fight’ as promoter defends his training camp

TYSON FURY is reportedly heading to Saudi Arabia TWO MONTHS before fighting Oleksandr Usyk after his camp plans came under fire. Fury faces Usyk in the heavyweight division’s first ever four-belt title unification on February 17 in Riyadh.

And, according to the Daily Star, he will make his way to the Middle East on December 30, a full seven weeks before the bout.
That means Fury would spend Christmas with wife Paris and his seven kids, but swerve a New Year’s celebration at home to get preparations under way.
The Gypsy King almost suffered a disastrous and embarrassing defeat against ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou in their crossover clash in October.
He was dropped by the massive underdog and deemed fortunate to walk away with a controversial win on the scorecards.

Fury, 35, touched down in Saudi only a week before that fight, but things look to be different for the historic unification with Usyk, 36.
His own dad John hit out at his training camp for the Ngannou fight and claimed even now it is a “CIRCUS”.
John even said his son’s training camp showed he was “in decline”, leading to fears he could be outclassed by Usyk.
But Fury’s Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren was quick to speak out in defence of the undefeated WBC champion.

Deontay Wilder reveals chilling new nickname as he issues warning to Joseph Parker and Anthony Joshua

DEONTAY WILDER has revealed his chilling new nickname in a warning to Joseph Parker and the rest of the heavyweight division. The American former WBC world heavyweight champion has always gone by the “Bronze Bomber” moniker.

It is a nod to the bronze medal he won at the 2008 Olympics and a homage to heavyweight legend Joe Louis, who was called the “Brown Bomber.”
But Wilder – regarded as one of if not the hardest hitter in history – has now adopted a new name in honour of his power.
He said: “End of the day, people have things to do. They wanna come and see a fight and after that they want to go party.
“So when you’re watching me don’t blink, I’m going to give you what you want to see.

Tyson Fury’s dad John warns Anthony Joshua will be ‘tested like he has never been tested before’ against Otto Wallin

JOHN FURY was warned Anthony Joshua will be “tested like he has never been tested before” against Otto Wallin. Tyson Fury’s dad watched in horror as his son was left needing 47 stitches after a points win over the Swede in 2019.

The Gypsy King was left a bloody mess in that Vegas fight… and now, four years later, Wallin will be out to inflict similar damage to Joshua.
And John has questioned AJ’s team for choosing the Swedish southpaw as the man to welcome him back to the ring in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night.
He told Boxing Social, via FreeBets: “I’m not so sure again about the people around him, the managing side, picking a man like Wallin.
“He would give anybody a problem, he’s a 6ft 5in southpaw, a good game kid and has one of the best trainers in the world in his corner in Joey Gamache.

“At the end of the day, it’s an uphill battle let’s put it that way. Can AJ pull it off? He can.
“But he’s going to get tested like he has never been tested before. I think if I was looking after him I wouldn’t have picked Wallin, no.
“When AJ is like he is, he’s on a comeback trail, he’s had a few setbacks, you want a confidence builder.
“And this ain’t a confidence builder, this is a bloody hard fight.”

John claimed Fury looked “as weak as a kitten” in Las Vegas when he was taken to the wire against Wallin.
Fury parted ways with trainer Ben Davison after the bout.
Coincidentally, Davison is now in the corner with Joshua for the first time, in the absence of head trainer Derrick James.
And Wallin said: “[Davison] was in Tyson Fury’s corner for our fight.
“I think it’s good to remember that after the fight Ben Davison was fired by Fury.
“So that’s all I take from it. Fury had a draw with Deontay Wilder, he got a new trainer, and he came back to knock Wilder out.
“So obviously Fury got better when he switched trainers.”
