GUNNERS legend Ian Wright has placed Wes Morgan above Steven Gerrard in his all-time top ten Premier League captains list.
The former Arsenal hotshot says it’s because of Morgan’s memorable role in leading Leicester City to an incredible Premier League title win.
Wes Morgan played in 38 games for Leicester leading them to their first ever Premier League title win in 2015-16
Leicester City were rank outsiders for the title in 2015-16 and given odds of 5000-1 of finishing top of the table.
Yet it’s a fairytale feat they managed to pull off in stunning fashion, with Morgan leading every single one of their 38 games.
And it’s an achievement Wright highlighted as the reason for his decision to rank Morgan higher than Liverpool icon Gerrard.
The former Arsenal frontman was having a debate with Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer when Lineker questioned whether Morgan should be ranked higher than Gerrard.

On the Match of the Day Top 10 podcast, SunSport columnist Wright said: “Wes Morgan won a Premier League title with a Leicester side no one expected. The fact is Steven Gerrard nearly did it. He nearly led Liverpool to it.
“But Wes Morgan with the team he had and the way Leicester did it – it’s a miracle.
“It’s the miracle of the Premier League, with journeymen and people we didn’t know.
“Obviously [N’Golo] Kante and [Riyad] Mahrez, they came out of the blue, [Jamie] Vardy. And then he [Morgan] had to keep them going through that season.”
Jamaican international Morgan scored twice in two league games during the Foxes’ title winning season.
Goals included the winner in Leicester’s 1-0 home victory against the Saints.
And while Gerrard might not have lifted a Premier League title, the Reds captain helped his team pull off an unforgettable Champion’s League win.
He led his side to glory in the competition in dramatic fashion in Istanbul with Liverpool beating AC Milan on penalties to capture the 2005 trophy.
