And Inter have now had to provide the 28-year-old with a temporary apartment in which to complete his temporary “preventative isolation”.

After moving to Serie A from Tottenham Hotspur in January, Eriksen made just six appearances for Inter before the league was forced to be suspended.

Italy has so far been by far the worst-affected European country – with 17,660 cases logged to date – and 1,266 deaths.

And football hasn’t been immune from the crisis, with a number of Eriksen’s fellow Serie A players having been struck by the illness.

Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, who was an unused substitute in the behind-closed-doors match against Eriksen’s Inter seven days ago, has tested positive for Covid-19.

And former Premier League stars Manolo Gabbiadini, now of Sampdoria – and Patrick Cutrone, on loan at Fiorentina from Wolves, have also been struck by the coronavirus.

Eriksen’s Inter have fallen away in the Serie A title race since the turn of the year – and it is unknown as to whether they will have the opportunity to turn things around.

Uefa will hold a conference by video with representatives of all 55 of its member nations present on Tuesday, to discuss the future of its domestic leagues.

And also on the agenda will be the Champions League and Europa League’s respective campaigns, with many round of 16 ties still up in the air.

Euro 2020 could be postponed – with the summer’s Olympic Games also in serious doubt.

The Premier League and EFL in England are currently suspended until April 4, but Premier League chiefs are under pressure to suspend the entire season.
