Lampard and Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia on collision course over Willian contract extension

CHELSEA boss Frank Lampard and club director Marina Granovskaia are currently battling it out over a decision to extend Willian’s contract.

The Brazilian winger, who has netted six goals in 37 appearances this season, is out of contract at the end of the season and Lampard is keen to offer a new deal but Granovskaia is focusing on summer transfer targets.

The Blues were ready to offer a one-year deal but the 31-year-old is pushing for a three-year contract having played a major part this season.

It would go against the clubs policy of only offering one-year contract extensions to players over 30 but Lampard is hoping to keep hold of Willian.

Should Willian leave, Chelsea would consider a move for Borussia Dortmund star man Jadon Sancho, who is set to be involved in a transfer battle this summer.

The 19-year-old has been in sensational form this season, becoming the first Englishman to record 15 assists since Lampard himself.

Sancho also has 14 goals in the Bundesliga, with only Timo Werner and Robert Lewandowski having scored more.

A move for the Dortmund attacker would cost Chelsea over £100million, which could tempt Granovskaia to offer Willian a longer deal.

Lampard and Chelsea are set to have a busy summer transfer window after struggling with an injury-hit squad in recent months.

They are considering a move for Lyon’s Houssem Aouar, according to reports as they look to add to the signing of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax.

The Chelsea boss is set offer teenager Anjorin a new five-year deal after making his Premier League debut on Sunday during the 4-0 win over Everton.

Anjorin, 18, has been with Chelsea since he was six and now looks to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Anjorin joins fellow Chelsea academy products Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Reece James and Marc Guehi in making a first team breakthrough this season.
