Following the World Health Organisation’s announcement of the virus as a pandemic, the Times report that all football matches in England will be played behind closed doors.
The proposal is to make a stream of games available to season ticket holders and individual match ticket holders so that they can still see the action.
But it’s been met with anger, with many demanding a refund as a result of the decision.
Playing in empty stadiums has not been welcomed by managers, with Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo among those to say they find it pointless as the game is a spectator sport and played for entertainment.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola spoke on this issue, telling reporters: ”Does football work without spectators?
”If the people can’t come, there is no sense. We will follow what we have to do, but I wouldn’t like to do it without the people.”

Rather than postponing any games, the League will continue online if possible.
This includes lower league clashes as well.
The plan may be put into force if the number of coronavirus cases goes over 500.
Just last night it stood at 460, so the changes are somewhat imminent.
The plans which include no matches being shown in pubs in order to minimise large public gatherings in order to contain the spread, are seen as the only way forward, but fans feel rather differently.
Many fans are concerned they will not be given a refund for games missed live in stadiums and have voiced their disapproval on their Twitter accounts.
