But he appeared on BBC for the FA Cup quarter-final draw with quite a different look.

The 59-year-old, who became a household name after skying a penalty in the 1990 World Cup semi-final against Germany, was boasting a trendy haircut seen on mainly millennials.

Indeed, Waddle totally captivated the audience with his barnet.

And fans decided they had to rush to Twitter to express their thoughts over Waddle’s fresh trim.

One wrote: “Chris Waddle at 50 with a peak Grealish trim.”

Another said: “Chris Waddle looks like a shaved pigeon.”

One tweeted: “Newcastle will play Chris Waddle’s hair in the next round.”

Another exclaimed: “I’m sorry but wtf is going on with Chris Waddle’s hair ffs.”

One added: “How can it be possible for Chris Waddle to have worse hair now than he did in the 80s? It defies all logic.”

Waddle recently made waves with a brilliant goalscoring performance during a veterans’ game.

He rolled back the years with an audacious 35-yard lob in a 2-2 draw.

Waddle turned out for Long Bennington Veterans FC in the East Midlands Veterans League against Bottesford FC.

The two sides were competing for the Olivia Hinton Trophy, with ex-England international Waddle proving to be the highlight of the match.
