UNION BERLIN’S Bundesliga clash Wolfsburg was SUSPENDED after more Dietmar Hopp banners were unfurled just a day after Bayern Munich stars walked off the pitch in protest.

The game was disrupted due to hateful banners aimed at controversial Hoffenheim owner Hopp.

Hopp is not well liked among fans of rivals teams because of his involvement financing the rise of Hoffenheim from the fifth tier to the Bundesliga.

The club chief made his money as a hugely successful software entrepreneur and is said to have by invested around £350million in his pet project.

He was granted an exemption from German football’s 50+1 ownership rule which is implemented to ensure the clubs remain in the hands of the supporters.

But despite that, a huge number of fans in Germany are against what he and the club stand for – and there was more drama on Sunday, too.

Just before half-time, the referee blew his whistle with the score at 1-0 to Union Berlin in their game at home to Wolfsburg.

Frustrated players walked over to fans in what appeared to be an attempt to get them to hide the offensive banners – in scenes similar to those at Bayern 24 hours earlier.

In the game in Berlin, supporters had shown off a huge banner, spreading almost the entire width of the pitch.

Translated from German, it read: “Collective punishments abolished now for Hopp… two steps back.

“F*** you DFB [German Football Association].”

Another simply read: “Son of a b****.”

Yesterday’s banner seen at the Bayern Munich game read: “Dietmar Hopp is a son of a whore.”

Borussia Dortmund fans have also previously shown their feeling towards Hopp with chants against the 79-year-old.
