Tyson Fury reveals he still feels ‘absolutely suicidal’ every Sunday and would be ‘dead in a year’ if he gave up the gym

TYSON FURY says he feels “absolutely suicidal” every Sunday and would be “dead within a week” if he stopped training.

The Gypsy King revealed his continuing fight with mental health issues ahead of his rematch with WBC heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder on February 22.

Fury has won his two comeback fights since being unlucky only to draw with fellow unbeaten fighter Wilder in December 2018, having suffered from depression after beating Wladimir Klitschko four years ago.

And he told Behind the Gloves that the “routine” of boxing keeps his darkest moments at bay.

The 31-year-old said: “I look forward to Saturdays. I do a long run in the morning and then I will do something with the kids or whatever I can.

“Then Sunday comes and every Sunday I am absolutely suicidal, every single Sunday whether I am in camp or I am at home.

“It is like the world has ended and I just want to not live anymore.

“That is Sunday. And then I go to bed on a Sunday night thinking yeah Monday is tomorrow I can start my stuff again.

‘I’M TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE’

“Back to the gym, back to the coffee shop, back to the lunch, back to the kids.

“That is the way I live. It is routine that is keeping me alive and keeping me going.

“If I give up the gym I will be dead within a year, that is for sure.”

Fury told talkSPORT last November he lived as “two completely different people” during his long time out.

He said: “There have always been two characters to Tyson Fury – there’s Tyson Fury, the man, and there’s the Gypsy King, the entertainer.

“You wouldn’t believe how different those two people are.

“It’s like another person sat there. It’s not me today, it’s an entertainer, it’s somebody who has never been affected by mental health.”

Fury’s latest frank comments come after Yank Wilder claimed the Brit only split from ex-trainer Ben Davison so he could use it as an excuse after their second bout in less than a fortnight’s time.

Wilder told ThaBoxingVoice: “The weight thing – I don’t wanna hear nothing about being out of shape or, ‘He didn’t have enough time to get in shape.’

“All these trainers around – I don’t wanna hear when I knock him out that, ‘If he had Ben it would’ve been better.”
