CRISTIANO RONALDO trained with Francis Obikwelu on Monday as the Juventus star looks to start the new season at top speed.
At 34, the Portuguese forward is out to prove that age is no barrier to success by winning a sixth Champions League crown – his first with Juve.
Obikwelu is certainly a man who can help Ronny with his running.
A three-time European champion, twice in the 100-metre event and once at 200m, the 40-year-old also won Olympic silver at the 2004 Athens.
“It was a great experience to train with my friend,” Ronaldo wrote on Instagram alongside a clip of the pair.
Obikwelu can be seen keeping a close eye on the winger as he launches into a sprint.
And he earned some admiring glances too, former Real Madrid colleague Marcelo commenting: “Good technique kid!”
Born in Nigeria, the one-time European Indoor 60m champion switched to represent Portugal at the age of 16.
And Sporting Lisbon commented to show their pleasure at seeing two stars associated with the club together, as Obikwelu has run for their athletics team.
On his account, Obikwelu posted a photo with the message: “It was a pleasure to train with my good friend.”
Juventus begin pre-season in the coming weeks ahead of their first friendly against Tottenham Hotspur in China on July 21.
Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and South Korea’s K-league All Stars await them on their tour as Ronaldo prepares for his 18th season in the game.
