Now Celts have put the 24-year-old former Norwich City ace, who is under contract until 2022, on their shortlist for the summer.
Murphy joined Cardiff City back in the summer of 2018 and was part of the Bluebirds side that played in the Premier League last season.
During his time at the Welsh capital club, he has made 51 appearances in all competitions and scored seven goals.
After coming through the youth ranks at Norwich, the winger spent time on loan at Wigan and MK Dons.
He ultimately made 104 appearances in all competitions for the Canaries before moving to Cardiff, scoring 20 goals.
Meanwhile, Stoke City star James McLean has claimed he convinced former Rangers and Celtic transfer target Tyrese Campbell not to join the Ibrox club last month.
The Irish international is a well-known supporter of the Hoops, and he couldn’t resist having a cheeky dig at their Old Firm rivals.
He posted on Instagram: “When you convince @tyekaicampbell to see sense and turn down Sevco and he listens.”
Campbell ultimately decided to remain in England and has scored five goals in 19 Championship appearances for the Potters so far this season.
