Neymar ruled out of PSG squad for next game with injury… just two days after lavish birthday party

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN star Neymar has been ruled out of Tuesday’s clash against Nantes with a rib injury – just two days after his birthday bash at a Paris nightclub.

The 27-year-old – who doesn’t turn 28 until Wednesday – threw a lavish all-white party on Sunday just 24 hours after Les Parisiens’ 5-0 win against Montpellier.

The Brazilian trickster required treatment during the first half of Saturday’s victory, with PSG confirming that he hasn’t been able to shake off the injury.

In a statement released on Monday, the Ligue 1 outfit said: “Neymar Jr has a costochondral injury, suffered during the first half of the match against Montpellier.

“This was confirmed by tests that were conducted today.”

A number of PSG players including the likes of Edinson Cavani, Kylian Mbappe and Ander Herrera were all in attendance at Neymar’s party.

Speaking ahead of the encounter against Nantes, boss Thomas Tuchel admitted that his side’s preparation was not ideal.

He said: “Is it the best way to prepare for a match? No, clearly not. Is it the worst thing in the world? No. I always protect my players, and I really love my team.

“With this party, I accept that it is a bit difficult to protect the players, but the context is not simply black or white. It is a shame, because we are giving people the chance to speak badly of us.

“We need to adapt to the situation, but I am not going to leave a player on the bench or at home because they went out and celebrated.”

Tuchel also spoke of World Cup winner Mbappe after the two were involved in a heated exchange on the touchline after the ex-Monaco ace was brought off.

He stated: “There is nothing personal between him and me. These things happen.

“It was between a player who does not want to come off and a coach who had his reasons for doing something and who wanted to give a game to players who deserved it.”
