Earlier this month, it was reported the Red Devils were set to battle Sheffield United to sign Genk star Berge in a £20million deal.
Berge, 21, had told Genk he wished to leave the club this month.
And with just days remaining until the January window closes, the Norwegian may have got his wish.
Reports in Manchester claimed it WAS in fact Berge, before all tweets were quickly deleted.
Some fans commented it may be a reserve team keeper.
Whoever it was, he was grinning ear-to-ear as he was chauffeured in a black Mercedes this morning.
Man Utd are desperate to add more talent to their midfield with Paul Pogba injured and set to quit the club in 2020.
On top of that, star man Scott McTominay is out injured until at least next month, with Fred, Nemanja Matic, Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard struggling to replace him.
But on Tuesday morning, Solskjaer revealed the club were NOT close to make any new signings.
The boss said: “I haven’t got any updates for you on transfers, I think it was a waste [of a question], I gave you the option.
“I haven’t got anything to say now, my mind is on the game [against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday].”
Last year, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was reported to be interested in Berge – with United fans surely hopeful the mystery man is the Genk star.
The 20-cap Norway international helped his club win the Belgian league title last season.
And after Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Genk at Anfield earlier this term, Klopp is claimed to have said to him: “You are an interesting player – a very interesting player.”
And Berge himself said: “It was a great moment. You have a big smile when you receive those sorts of compliments.
“It is wonderful when such a renowned manager as Jurgen Klopp comes over and says something like that.”
