Fans convinced Mo Salah tried to pass the ball to Joel Matip AFTER he was subbed in Liverpool’s draw against Shrewsbury

MOHAMED SALAH left fans in hysterics when he tried to pass the ball to Joel Matip just moments after he was put on the pitch to replace him.

Jurgen Klopp introduced the Egyptian striker from the bench as Liverpool desperately pushed for a goal against Shrewsbury in the second half.

But Klopp’s best efforts went unrewarded as the Premier League leaders were held to a 2-2 draw by the League One side.

Salah, who has scored 15 goals this season, was unable to find a winner after he was put on the pitch in the 80th minute.

He pinged the ball out wide with his first touch of the ball after he spotted a red shirt in the distance.

But Salah did not realise that it was Matip making his way along the touchline towards the dugout.

The ball dribbled out of play as the home fans cheered at Montgomery Waters Meadow.

After the clip went viral on Twitter, one fan joked: “And they say he doesn’t pass. Egyptian king.”

Another added: “Finally he passed the ball.”

And one said: “Salah trying to pass to Matip who’s just been substituted for himself to come on is class.”

One Twitter user said: “Mo Salah passing to Matip who’s just been subbed off is a thing of beauty.”
