Flash Floyd Mayweather – worth £425m – teased for choosing budget £38-a-night Blackpool hotel for UK meet and greet

FLOYD MAYWEATHER has been mocked for choosing a low-budget venue in Blackpool for a meet and greet.

The legendary boxer – dubbed “The Money” – is notorious for flashing wads of cash and arriving at venues in luxury motors.

But he is swapping Las Vegas for the Lancashire seaside resort after being booked to appear at the Grand Hotel, owned by Britannia, which is consistently voted the UK’s worst hotel chain.

Mayweather – worth a staggering £425million – will charge fans £150 for a photo at the £38-a-night no frills hotel when he rocks up in March.

A VVIP Platinum table for 10 costs a whopping £2,500 while a VIP Gold table for 12 costs £1,800.

But some fans hilariously claim the boxer, who won 50 fights, is coming to enjoy the Pleasure Beach, Coral Island and other local attractions.

Dean Anderson joked on Facebook: “I’ve heard he’s only coming for a blast on the donkey’s and the Big One.”

Dean Kelly quipped: “Rather play on the pleasure beach pal with candy floss and a toffee apple mate.”

Imagine his face when he rocks up in Blackpool.

Fan on social media

Mathew Smith said: “Must be coming to get his photo taken with one of the many Tarot readers on the prom.”

Josh Adamson said: “Imagine his face when he rocks up in Blackpool.”

David Keith Mersey jested: “He’s always wanted to go to Pleasure Beach.”

Glenn Millington said: “As a Blackpool resident when I wrote to my MP asking for money for Blackpool I meant investment not this Floyd chap.

“I presume he’s been tricked into coming by being told that this is the Las Vegas of the north. He will quickly realise the error of his judgement.”

Lee Lomas posted: “Bet Money Mayweather loves Blackpool that much he gets a year pass on the Pleasure Beach and a caravan in Fleetwood.”

Chris Houlihan said: “His management team have been severely misinformed about the current social and economic standing of Blackpool.”

Andy Cregan Eccles said: “The guys got about 700 million and millions worth of cars. Why in God’s name does he need go Blackpool for a few quid.”

Scott Gray joked: “Be able to stock up on chicken tikka or Brussel sprouts flavoured Rock while he’s there.”

And Wayne Shuttleworth quipped: “Big “money” Mayweather splashing it out on the 10p pusher machines at Coral Island.”
Scott Paterson posted: “Bit of a come down from Vegas.”

But not everyone believes the resort isn’t good enough for him.

Peter Stephenson said: “Once in a lifetime to meet a boxing legend…fair play for getting him to Blackpool I say.”

Kenny Mew, general manager at The Blackpool Tower Dungeon, said: “Who can blame Floyd Mayweather for wanting to swap the bright lights of Vegas for Blackpool?

“I hope he’ll have time to see the sights. Whether it’s riding the Big One, getting a selfie by The Blackpool Tower or calling into the arcades, he’ll soon learn why we got the reputation as the Vegas of the North.

“We look forward to welcoming him to the town.”

Mayweather is stopping off in Essex, Sheffield and Derby as part of his Legendary Icon tour.
