Alisson gets incredible assist for Salah’s Liverpool winner – and then runs length of pitch to celebrate like Pepe Reina

MO SALAH was the man that got his name on the scoresheet at the death as Liverpool sealed their 2-0 victory over Manchester United at Anfield.

But his team-mate Alisson deserves his fair share of the plaudits.

After the Reds had squandered a series of chances to put the game to bed, United had found another gear and were pressing for an equaliser as the game approached its final stages.

Anfield had collectively held its breath as Fred delivered a last-gasp corner.

The Brazilian’s cross was half-cleared, but the resulting attempt on goal was tamely scuffed, with an offside Juan Mata unable to get involved in play.

The ball dribbled harmlessly back to Alisson – but rather than fall on it ball and watch the clock run down, the 27-year-old was alert to the counter-attacking opportunity that had presented itself.

With the Red Devils having committed every man forward, Salah was free on the halfway line with acres of space to run into.

And his goalkeeper spotted him, pinging a perfect pass over the top to send the Egyptian scampering away.

Daniel James tried to get back, but there was no stopping Salah, who slotted home to seal the victory in front of the adoring Kop.

And as the 27-year-old celebrated, he was soon joined by his assistor, as Alisson evoked memories of Pepe Reina by running the length of the field to celebrate.

Liverpool midfielder James Milner laughed: “Which was better – the 60 yard pass or the 50 yard knee slide?”

Reds fans fondly remember the 37-year-old Spaniard, who similarly ran the length of the pitch to celebrate after David Ngog had sealed a 2-0 triumph against United back in 2009.

And they revelled in the moment, with one gleefully pointing out: “Alisson has been involved in more goals in the PL that Jesse Lingard”.

While another commented: “Assist of the season!”

And one loved up fan gushed: “This is beautiful”.
