Tottenham boss Mourinho’s biggest worry is not missing Kane but how utterly dreadful they are at the back

TOTTENHAM clearly missed England striker and talisman Harry Kane on Saturday.

He’s the man they would have wanted on the end of Serge Aurier’s cross that Giovani Lo Celso somehow managed to put wide with the goal gaping.

The biggest worry for Spurs will be how stale they have become and also how dreadful they have been at the back this season.

Just last season Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen were considered one of the best partnerships in the Prem.

But Jose Mourinho can’t make his mind up between two or three at the back.

And the Spurs boss has made several changes during his short reign, including giving 20-year-old Japhet Tanganga his league debut against Liverpool on Saturday.

Mourinho knew he wouldn’t have huge spending power when he agreed to take over but they look four or five players short of getting back to where they were last season.

They are way off the top four now. Another headache is what to do with Christian Eriksen, who was booed off by some fans on Saturday when he was subbed.

We all know he’s going to move on but I’m surprised Tottenham – who look set to lose Eriksen to Inter – have allowed it to get to this point.

They should have sold him when he had 12 or 18 months left on his contract, rather than let him go for nothing.
