JOSE MOURINHO will be hoping to make a couple of additions to his squad in what is his first transfer window as Tottenham boss.
SunSport revealed that the Special One’s first signing is set to be Krzysztof Piatek after agreeing a deal worth £28million with AC Milan.
How Tottenham could line-up after the January transfer window
Spurs will be without star goalscorer Harry Kane until April after the England skipper undergoes surgery for his hamstring injury.
And chairman Daniel Levy moved quickly to land Polish striker Piatek, 24, ahead of Premier League rivals Aston Villa, Newcastle and Crystal Palace.
But Tottenham’s spending is not set to end there, with Mourinho already keen on adding to his full-back ranks, with the likes of Serge Aurier and Danny Rose failing to win him over.
Spurs have been linked with both Norwich star Max Aarons and West Brom’s Nathan Ferguson at the right-back spot.
But Aarons seems to be the most likely, with the youngster being tipped for a bright future in the Premier League.
At left-back, Mourinho may be forced to continue shoehorning centre-back Jan Vertonghen on the flank, with Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld in the heart of defence.
They’ll line-up in front of Hugo Lloris when the French stopper recovers from his dislocated elbow.
Spurs also need some help in the middle of the park, with Mourinho seemingly unsure of his best combination.
Eric Dier, Christian Eriksen, Harry Winks, Giovani Lo Celso, Victor Wanyama and Moussa Sissoko have all seen time in the position.
But club-record-buy Tanguy Ndombele has shown glimpses of being the main man for the job – should he find a consistent partner.
Someone like 22-year-old Flamengo star Gerson – formerly at Roma – would do the job, after he earned rave reviews in Brazil during his team’s most successful season ever.
Mourinho is thought to be a fan of the Samba star, who has been tipped to become one of the boss’ first signings in North London.
With the likes of Lucas Moura, Son Heung-min, Erik Lamela and Dele Alli, Tottenham are well-equipped in the attacking midfield ranks.
But up front they are perilously short, with Piatek installed as the club’s only fit senior striker with his only back up being 17-year-old Troy Parrott.
