Two clubs bizarrely announce transfer of same player within 15 minutes of each other

RAFIDINE ABDULLAH was a man in demand on Thursday – signing for TWO clubs in just 15 minutes.

Both Hercules and Stade Lausanne announced the French midfielder’s arrival in unprecedented, and embarrassing, scenes.

Former Marseille man Abdullah was a free agent after leaving Belgian club Waasland-Beveren and appears to have been a little bit too successful in finding a new team.

At 10.36am, Swiss second-tier side Stade Lausanne announced his capture on Twitter with a picture of the player shaking hands with a club official.

The statement read: “FC Stade Lausanne-Ouchy is pleased to announce the arrival of Rafidine Abdullah! He will represent our team until summer 2021. Welcome Rafidine!”

However, Spanish club Hercules had other ideas.

At 10.50am the Segunda B outfit posted their own image of Abdullah in full Hercules training kit.

Their tweet read: “Midfielder Rafidine Abdullah joins Hercules training. The club has an option to retain his services.”

So who gets to keep him?

It is most likely that Abdullah will stay in Switzerland, given that he has supposedly put pen to paper on an 18-month contract – whereas Hercules simply possessed the “option” to sign him during a trial.

And it can also forever enter the echelons of football’s most awkward transfer announcements.

Alexis Sanchez playing the piano for Manchester United and Partik Schick arriving at Roma to a montage of random animal clips also spring to mind.
